In like a lion

Is the heavy thunderstorm that woke me up this morning a sign that this dreadful winter is over? Or is it all a ruse?

No need to answer. I’m not that gullible. (Plus, I looked at the forecast last night.)

But I will admit, for a second, seeing that pathetic little patch of grass in our lawn gave me a glimmer of hope.

January and February slipped away from me. It was a combination of being so overwhelmed at work, and being so unmotivated by our biting temperatures and mounds upon mounds of snow.

I am someone who lives life at its happiest when I am working towards something – whether it be a goal, milestone, or an event. These last two months haven’t had anything like that for me. I tried to regularly exercise – that failed. I haven’t worked on any of my personal professional goals because I am so sick and tired of work by the time I get home. Steven and I shut ourselves in during the weekends these past two months because we were too worn out to put on happy faces and be conversationalists (well, at least I was, anyway).

So, yeah. It’s time to quit whining and start trying again.

At least until it snows again.

We had a couple thunder/lightening/snow storms last month. I was really disappointed to miss all of them, i was always already asleep, because they’re somewhat rare and I think it would be really neat to see snow and lightening together.

  2. i completely understand the weather situation… yesterday it was 82 here and today we have a chance of snow… tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 60′s… um, hello?!? wintertime is good for hibernating… it’s just always nice to know i’m not the only one who feels this way sometimes…
    :)

  3. I don’t like going out much in the winter. The cold zaps my energy, I hate being cold, so I rather stay in and curl under the covers. Much like Manny. Come spring and daylights savings time, you’ll just feel the urge to get out. You’ll probably feel like being in a better mood, too.

Jenn – our thunderstorm + mounds upon mounds of snow = flooding. There is a river here that floods all the time – and the water still on the ground is now ice. Yay. Not.

CournteyInControl – It seems like the weather has been up and down like that all over the states. Global warming? Or is this just an effed up winter? ;)

Gina (Mannyed) – I wish we hibernated during the winter, like bears. Or at least stayed home and slept all day – like cats!

I think this extended stretch of wintry weather has melted everyone’s spirits. Although it’s still too early to formally call this a “long” winter, it sure FEELS long. I don’t recall feeling this fed up with winter in a long time. The first stretch of true spring weather will give all of us a spring fever so severe we’ll be running down the streets in flip-flops during our lunch breaks and begging our bosses to let us take recess.

It’s going to be a lot easier to start trying again when the sun stays out for more than 30 minutes. :)
And just so you know, anytime I’ve had interaction with you the past couple months you have been nothing but lovely (and we would have loved you anyway even if you weren’t!).

lcmotorist – I think you are right! I saw a guy outside today without a coat, and a short sleeved shirt! At first I thought he was crazy, but then when I started to think about it, it didn’t seem like a bad idea…

diane – I love how it doesn’t get dark until after 6:00 now! And thanks, you always have a way of making me feel good. I am so happy we went out to the movie with you, and got out of the house! I think that was the start of my feel good revelation (of course, the Dayton headache put a damper in that one! Next up – Portsmouth, OH! riiiiiiiiight)

oh how I wish winter was over. I’m staring at a giant pile of snow outside my window at the moment – it’s covering the lower branches of the tree in our front yard. And we’re getting more. :( I hope the thunderstorms heralded the end of winter for you!

This winter is the first time I haven’t envied you guys up north. The bad weather seems to just go on and on for you. I’m grateful to be here in sunny, warm San Diego!

I hope you get an EARLY spring!!!
