Blech! I can't imagine. I like the gym usually, but I do notice one good thing about taking a walk/run/bike is that you are forced to exercise in that you always have to get home, you can't just hop off the machine...

Gina (Mannyed) - And staying darker later in the morning. It's really making me feel sad. :(

Nilsa - Whoa! You must be serious! I am already planning on sticking to the indoors when it gets that cold ;)

sizzle - This probably didn't encourage you to exercise outdoors though :P

Jenn - I am in the same boat - can run a long time on the treadmill, but not outside. I think I'd like to run outside as often as possible, and on the treadmill when I am not feeling well (my bum hip).

ajooja - Park running is A LOT different than track! Is it more of a trail? Those are tough. But it's probably good to do both!

martymankins - Should that be my next Rock Band name?!?! I do like it. :) We have schools close, but I never thought about using them. The Chicago area als has a pretty extensive Forest Preserve system WITH trails. I was actually thinking how much I would love to run in the park - it would just be a REALLY sweaty ride home! ;)

Alice - Yes. Yes. Yes it is! I am trying ti fight the urge to just use the treadmill... but I already feel cold weather creeping in! It's getting a little cooler every day :(

Megan - Hopefully not a tick in your BRA?!?!?

em - I think running may be the easiest sport to get bored in! Maybe I will have to try the boogeyman idea! And YES, I am definitely happy it was NOT in my mouth. EW. YUCK YUCK YUCK.

Robin - Exactly!

tori - Isn't it funny how people have a natural inclination to want to watch other people exercise? I think it is something we just can't turn off about ourselves. I am guilty of it too! I wish that bug would have been imaginary! Where was your bug?

Also, gross about the bug! I hate when you think there is a bug, but then think you are imagining it and then there really is one that you discover a bit later and then know it had been there that whole time. That happened to me this morning!

Before I had kids, I ran outside and thought treadmills were horrible. Then I had kids and it was either run while they were sleeping or not at all since my husband's schedule is unpredictable. Now, I actually prefer the treadmill! I tried to run outside the other weekend with my daughter and hated it! We have way too many neighbors who are outside at all hours watching us. I know they aren't actually watching us, but it sure feels like it. Probably when the kids are old enough, I will go back to running outside at 5 in the morning and then it won't matter, but for now I love my treadmill!

I wish I could run on treadmills. I think I have runners ADD or something, I just get bored. I looooove running at night. I get all freaked out that theres a boogeyman behind me and it makes me go faster. Novel idea until there really is one someday.

Better in your bra than your mouth? Just a thought... (man, without knowing I was talking about bugs, that statement alone is kinda weird.)

I know I definitely prefer the majestic outdoors on some days, but other days I just want the benefits of the indoor, private, climate controlled, bug-free treadmill.

You should be thankful for one thing: the bug was not a tick.
I speak from experience.

i prefer running on treadmills because i SUCK at running, and it's like 40x easier to run on nice, flat, gentle treadmills :-)

That's a catchy phrase "Black Bugs In Bras" Or the next cool new band name.

Seriously, the idea of running outdoors when it's nice is tempting, but I think I would prefer the indoor treadmill.

For outdoor running, we have a park here called Liberty Park. About 3 years ago, the city poured a buttload of money into it and made a nice track that circles the entire park (the park covers 4 city blocks north and south and two city blocks east and west). If it wasn't so far from my house, I would prefer it to running outdoors.

We also have a high school across the street, but with school season starting next week, it's kind of off limits now. Do you have any similar parks or schools nearby to your home?
