Blogger/Blogspot Dilemma – Temporary Solution?

By , January 28, 2010 5:41 pm

So, someone was a bit of a crankypants last Saturday!

I am so incredibly far-behind in my blog reading that my brilliant solution to send email comments to blogger/blogspot blogs just isn’t going to work. I don’t have the time.

I am trying to come up with a temporary solution that still allows me to leave comments on these blogs. Half of the running blogs I read are hosted by blogger/blogspot! That is a lot to miss out on.

I decided to limit reading these blogs to one computer – that way, if I get a virus, I still have the other computer to use. However, it was hard to decide which one to use. My large computer is easier for reading blogs, but too heavy to carry to work, and has too many programs on it to reinstall when reformatting. The baby computer is lightweight, has no programs and no files… but no CD drive. So when I go to reformat it, I have to borrow my neighbors 1 GB jumpdrive so I* can put Windows back on it. Wah.

So, blah blah blah… the baby computer it is. It is loaded with anti-virus and spyware software, so let’s see where this gets me. Now I will know if this software works at all.

It’s interesting that many other bloggers have had problems leaving comments on blogger/blogspot blogs, but have not had this virus issue. Only a few other people have, but think it came from Facebook, or ads. So, if I get it on the large computer, I will know it isn’t blogger/blogspot, and I can quit being a whiny baby!

Thanks for being patient!

And yay for me not being as much of a whiny brat as I was last week!

Of course, it could all change… ๐Ÿ˜‰

glad you found a solution. re: the clients- basically what happened on tuesday is that people signed up for “ask the personal trainer” it’s free- and they get to ask anything they want of me. questions, etc. and apparently they don’t get exercise as you said. one “client” girl taking advantage of teh free 20 minute consultation kept motioning to her hips and saying i want to minimize this. what do i do? me:,….

  3. I’ve definitely had problems leaving comments — some of them only allow comments with my Google account, which links to my OLD blog — but never a virus. Then again, I use a Mac.

I never received any viruses but I definitely had the problem where I couldn’t comment, which was annoying enough. Hopefully you can get the virus thing figured out, I know how frustrating they can be. :/

Good solution! At the very least, you sort of have a control group!

That is what I was thinking too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope it was all just caused by something else and coincidentally popped up when I went to blogger sites!

You are too funny… I love it… you are so dedicated that you don’t want to miss out ;)… that’s great.. I have to admit I have become quite addicted to blog reading ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way.. update you blog roll and blog reader as I have moved (sorry to be a pain) but as I went through the face lift I decided that the name of the blog doesn’t truly represent my reasons for blogging and therefore I made a name change… you can now find me at http://www.nutritiousfoodie.com/

    Have a great night

Made the change! Can’t wait to check out the new site! It will be hard not to call you OT anymore ๐Ÿ˜‰

I havent gotten any viruses, but I have had to click the post button about 40 times to get my comment to actually post.

  8. kapgar says:

    Here’s your solution… get a Mac! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m so sorry you’ve had this problem! I haven’t had any viruses, but I haven’t been commenting as much lately on blogs.

I hope the anti-virus does the trick ๐Ÿ™‚

I think that surfing without some kind of virus protection, even if you are a Mac user, is not a safe thing to do — eventually someone will make a virus smart enough to outsmart you. Also, the programmers who make viruses are probably smart enough to build in a delayed action feature so that you don’t know what sites to avoid.

I did enable comment moderation on my blogspot blog, just in case one of the slimy spam commenters was slipping in a virus in their comment links. I wish Blogger just had a “no links allowed in comments” setting because I would have just used that. Luckily, comment moderation does not seem to have discouraged commenting so far.

This is the exact reason I hate technology sometimes! I don’t see why someone needed to create a virus in the first place… what joy can a virus-creator really get out of life!?

I always wonder the same thing. How can causing misery and frustration for someone else make them happy? Especially if they don’t get to witness/track it?

  12. martymankins says:

Since Kapgar already told you the obvious solution ๐Ÿ˜‰ I will ask a few questions.

Baby computer? a netbook? Which model?

When you went to my Blogger blog, what happened? Was there any pop ups or virus issues?

    • kilax says:

I have an HP Mini and a Dell D800 or something like that.

I have not visited your site or sent you the links to the others because I was on my work computer all week! So far, I have not have any problems since I started looking at them Thursday evening.

  13. Bethany says:

    Yay, I think that’s a great solution!

  14. Yay! I like this solution much better than the other one. I have never had a problem with blogger or even facebook, I hope it keeps up.
