The Great Farewell

One more organizational post – while I was doing my clothes purge and organizing inside the house, Steven was organizing the garage. We were on a roll (but we didn’t get everything done)!

Data had to say farewell to an old friend…

He loved to go out in to the garage and play with this model. He liked to chew on the trees. I made one last video of it.

Don’t worry, I still saved all of my favorite models. There they are:

Damn, these things are expensive to build. Steven asked me how much I spent on each one. Maybe $200-$300? And he asked how I could afford it. Student loans and credit card, baby. That is probably why it took me a year and a half out of college to pay off my credit card (but I am credit card debt free now!).

What is/was ridiculoulsy expensive about your education? Books? Models? Beer?

Books were definitely the most expensive thing I had to purchase. With econ and math we didn’t have a lot of hands on activities.
My parents and I had a deal that they would cover my tuition (which was mostly covered by scholarships) and I had to cover any room/board (since I could have lived at home if I wanted to) and books. They got the better end of that deal for sure!

Books, for sure. English major, which translates into 30 books (or more) a semester, many of which weren’t available used. On the up side, I started a great home library that way!

LOL, that video is hilarious. I like how an animal, grazed on an animal shelter. So profound.

I would have to say books were the most expensive items for me!

BOOKS! I intentionally avoided taking the Shakespeare class in college because the book was so notoriously expensive. I do still have a $50 book of modern literature I had to buy my senior year.
I’m really jealous of students now (I started typing “Kids these days”–ha) who can buy a lot of their books dirt cheap off Amazon or Craigslist.

  5. Books for sure. OMG thank God for half.com!

Hahahha I love the last five seconds of that video. 🙂 Architecture majors are crazy!

Books were really expensive….and then for nursing school we needed stethoscopes and such, and a nice one will set you back at least $100. Good thing they last a long time!

  7. Books were definitely the most expensive thing from my education. I was in college just when buying used books off the internet was becoming a bit more common. I did that, and sold my books back at the end of the class (I got more $$ than if I’d sold at the school bookstore).

Mmmm some more motivation to continue/start the purge/organization of January.

Even before I watched the video I knew that was your Guttenberg Animal Shelter model!

I’m guessing books were my most expensive college need. Social sciences don’t require a lot of other materials. What would really tick me off, though, was when professors would ask us to buy out of print books! Talk about hard to track down not to mention pricey!

Yay! I am happy you recognized the terrain. I think I pointed out my site to you when we ran by?

I hated how a lot of professors would only use the most recent edition, even though the last edition was probably just as good and CHEAPER!

Books and classroom fees were my big expenses. I didn’t drink during college (shocking, I know)

Those models were cool. And Data will be sad.

Ugh, BOOKS. I hated buying books.

Those models are VERY cool! I’m always amazed at how expensive art supplies are. I’m not an artsy person at all, but my partner has taken a few art classes since we’ve been together and it is crazy ridiculous how expensive the supplies are. I feel like he invests at least $50 a week in addition to tuition. It’s fun to have something more than a paper at the end of a class, however.

That was great. I was a little sad thinking of all the time you must have put into that model. But then again, you don’t need it anymore 🙂 Yay, out with the old!

    Very nice narration! And destruction.
