11 Random Meme

By , January 21, 2012 12:33 pm

Kandi tagged me for the 11 Random Meme. Sounds like something fun to do before I get to work this afternoon (barf). Meme rules:

  1. You must post 11 random things about yourself
  2. Answer the questions set for you in their post
  3. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer <– I don’t tag people. Feel free to participate on your blog or in the comments.
  4. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them
  5. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people!
11 Random Things About Me:

(Hint, a lot of this info can be found on my 100 Things page. I tried to pick some random things that give you an idea of who I am!)

  1. I have three siblings – an older brother, a younger brother and a younger sister. They all still live in Iowa. I wish we were closer (in proximity and relationship).
  2. I have been a vegetarian since January 2001 and a vegan since June 2009, for ethical reasons.
  3. I am really independent. BUT! If marriage has taught me one thing, it’s how amazing and reassuring it is to know that my husband will always 100% be there for me and have my back. And fix all the technology related things I break.
  4. I do not plan on having children. Never say never, but… I just don’t feel it’s for me.
  5. I never had an issue with my weight until college, when I started binge eating to deal with stress. I’ve been yo-yoing in my weight for almost 10 years. Not. Cool.
  6. I’ve never had close girlfriends until now (well, the last few years) and I cannot get over how awesome it makes me feel to have these people in my life.
  7. Work is not my life. I am not passionate about my work. I work to pay the bills. My dream job is to be a tour guide.
  8. I love to take bubble  baths. I sometimes wonder if I am the only adult who still takes baths (except for Stephanie, who blogged that as one of her Random 11 this week!).
  9. I know nothing about fashion. And I definitely don’t know what to do with my hair. Any advice for someone with thick wavy hair that does not involve a hair dryer?
  10. I have a really good memory. If you tell me some random fact about you I will probably remember it!
  11. I read blogs for entertainment but also to make relationships! If I comment on a blog for awhile and never hear anything back, I will quit commenting. (Is anyone else like that?)
Kandi’s 11 Questions:
  1. What is the last thing you took a picture of? My face. Ha ha. I was trying to show my snow covered eyelashes (a la Marcia), but the snow melted too fast!
  2. If you eat eggs, what is your favorite way to make them? No eggs for me!
  3. What is your favorite board game? I like non-competitive, non-strategy board games, like Loaded Questions and Apples to Apples.
  4. Do you prefer dogs, cats, or some other pet? Cats! I don’t know how to take care of a dog.
  5. Missing from Kandi’s post
  6. Cake or pie? Cake, if it’s moist and dense.
  7. If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be? It’s hard to say, as I have not traveled much. Maybe Colorado. Or somewhere in Spain.
  8. If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be? There are so many places I want to see, it’s hard to pick just one, but I think… Australia!
  9. What is your favorite color? Orange
  10. How many siblings do you have? Oops! Should have read these questions before I started my 11. I have 3 siblings.
  11. If you were invited to a wedding reception but not the ceremony, would you be offended? No way. The reception is the fun part!
 My 11 Questions for You:
  1. What is your dream job?
  2. What is the farthest (furthest?) you have traveled from home?
  3. Do you think you can you have more than one best friend?
  4. What is your favorite cuisine?
  5. Who is the first person you want to share news with?
  6. What are people likely to ask you to help them with?
  7. What are you likely to ask someone to help you with?
  8. Why do you read blogs?
  9. Who knows you the best?
  10. Do you believe in karma?
  11. What’s something you are really interested in, that most people don’t know about? (that you are interested in it, not the thing itself)

Fun! I think I’m going to answer these questions on my blog on Monday.

I guess it means that we’re really close since I knew all of those things about you already 🙂 Except what you took a picture of last. I figured it would have been Data 🙂

    • kilax says:

Cool! I look forward to reading your answers. And seeing your questions 🙂

Yeah… there is probably not too much you don’t know about me!

I did take some pictures of Data today after I wrote this! 🙂

  2. Losing Lindy says:

I didn’t know you loved Apples to Apples! I love that game!

  3. Kim says:

Your cat is so cute! You can definitely tell you had some snow on your eyelashes – I wish they took care of the sidewalks better around where I live. If I ran outside right now I’d fall as soon as I stepped out the door.

    • kilax says:

      Thank you! 🙂

It makes me crazy that people do not clean the sidewalks in a lot of our neighborhood… to the streets! (when they are plowed anyway)

  4. martymankins says:

I changed the rules a bit over on my blog. But still answered your questions. 🙂

  5. Pam says:

Holy crap. Where have you been all my life??? We have a whole lot in common.

I’m a vegetarian, also for ethical reasons, and would love to go vegan, but damnit I just love cheese and greek yogurt.

I’m crazy independent, too. I guess that comes from pretty much HAVING to be for my entire adult life until I married my husband in ’07.

We don’t have kids and don’t plan on having them.

I still don’t have close girlfriends. Really only one, but she’s hundreds of miles away.

In direct contrast to how my bosses THINK I should feel (I’ve told you what I do), I do not live to work. The money and benefits are the ONLY reason I do what I do.

I do love my cat to pieces, but I’m more of a dog person. Yes, they’re more attention demanding, but they’re worth it. 🙂 (Your cat is GORGEOUS, by the way!)

Australia is also my dream vacation spot. We’re already planning on going for our 10-year anniversary in 2017!

My dream job is anything to do with animal rescue and rehab.

Farthest I’ve ever traveled from home is either Barbados or Germany. I suck at geography and am too lazy to find out which is farther. I do know that the flight times were about the same.

People constantly ask me for help with things related to my job.

I very, very, VERY rarely ask anyone to help me with anything.

I read blogs for inspiration and to network.

I believe in karma most of the time, but the fact that my ex-husband is still living and breathing kind of keeps me from going all in on that one.

    • bobbi says:

Just wanted to say HI and that your blog HATES my guts right now and I can’t comment. You write a post about nutsacks, and I CAN’T COMMENT. Not cool!

      (But I’m still reading!!)

    • kilax says:

That is so cool to find out! That is one of the fun things about writing this 11 things for newer readers – you learn a lot! (I mean this has been happening to me on other blogs!)

We were married in 2007 too. In September 🙂

Thanks about our cat! Why don’t you have a dog, too? 🙂

We always ask my sister’s fiance about his job too. lol!

And another lol at your karma statement!

  6. carol says:

It seems like more and more women are making the choice to be childless so I found it interesting that it is your current plan (I have never had kids and at 55 can probably say never will – LOL!). I have several friends around my age who have not had children either. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Kelsey says:

I want to be a tour guide too!!

  8. abbi says:

We are definitely a lot a like as well, enjoyed reading these!

  9. Laura says:

On the topic of thick, wavy hair – I’ve got it too! I never knew what to do with it (that didn’t take like at least an hour) when it was long. Cutting it short was just about the best decision of my life. (It’s also layered.)

It seems to look okay if I do no styling what so ever and just let it go. Often I blow dry. It takes about 5 min at chin length and 10 at shoulder length, which I can manage. It’s never bone dry when I’m done and still retains some of the wave, which works out well because it looks like I’ve actually done something to it.

  10. bobbi says:

I’m with Laura above – my hair looks best when I don’t do anything to it…

(and an emphatic YES to number 11 – I don’t often comment on blogs I never hear back from)

  11. My dream job is to own a gym. Although I don’t think I will ever be rich enough to be able to open one.

  12. I took the liberties of posting my replies to this game on my blog. This is fun as long as it’s not too often:

  13. Stephany says:

I’m not sure how I feel about kids. I love them but man, they are a LOT of work. I’m not sure I’m up for that. At least for now. But I’m 24 and single. 😉 We’ll see how I feel in a few years.

YES to bubble baths. I may actually take one very soon. 😉

  14. Etta says:

I’d love to take bubble baths but we have a small tub and it’s not much fun to take a bath you have to sit straight up in. 😛

  15. Dave2 says:

    Done! Thanks for the meme!

I’ve been a vegetarian since 1986. And though I have cut WAY back on the amount of dairy and eggs I eat, I haven’t been able to go Vegan. Maybe one day…
