Random Thoughts Thursday XII

By , March 1, 2012 5:01 am
  • You guys remember when Erin helped me come up with a ton of outfits with my sad wardrobe? She started her own fashion blog – Loop Looks – to show how to dress for all four seasons on a budget and still have fun with your clothing. Add her blog to your Reader! Also, she has a form on there for Closet Consultations, if you are in the Chicagoland area and want her to help you out (like she did for me!).
  • Erin and I are going on a girls’ vacay to NYC! We are piggy-backing the trip on to the end of a work trip for me. I. Cannot. Wait.
  • I will also get to see my other best friend, Gina, when I am there. Should be an awesome week (assuming the trip happens this time).
  • February was a somewhat crappy month for me and did not deserve an extra day. I am not even going to link to all the stupid things I blogged about in February. It’s a new month now!
  • I had to buy a birthday card and a thank you card last week. Wow. I am totally mature.
  • After all my talk about making a 5K running playlist, I realized I didn’t even hear the music (despite it playing) during the  race on Sunday. Nor, did I really pay attention to what was going on around me (if I was getting passed/passing people). I think paying attention to the music would have helped. I tried one of my mantras –  “Push” – but it just wasn’t doing it.
  • Remember when I bought those two huge boxes of LUNA bars and asked you guys to guess how long they would last me? And said I would send one to whoever guessed the closest? Well, they lasted 55 days (and that is with giving some away!). Kandi guessed the closest at 45 days. Kandi, please email me (kilax@ilaxstudio.com) your mailing address and I will send you a bar.
  • I have been in a total blogging rut. AHHHHHH!!!!!

My sister sent that card with the butt scented candle to one of my kids for their birthday.
Yay for another visit to NYC!

  2. Losing Lindy says:

    Yay for heading to NYC

  3. I’ve been in a blogging rut, too. That’s why I’ve been so quiet as of late. Hoping my mojo went into mini hibernation and I’ll be good as new sooner than later. :p

I always get silly cards. The only time I stray from this is for Mother/Father’s Day. That’s when I get real. ha ha

  4. Kandi says:

Those cards made me laugh. I would love to receive something like that! haha. Major points go to anyone who gives me a wedding card with the word “butt” on it.
Yay for winning your Luna Bar contest! I’ve never tried one before. I knew you could make it! 😉 Emailing you now.

  5. gina says:

    Very excited about Erin’s blog!

I love your taste in cards. : )

  6. Kristina says:

Have an awesome time in NYC!
And I know what you mean about February – am pretty happy that the month is over. Here’s to March!

  7. Emily says:

That is awesome that you’ve got the trip to NYC planned – you will have a great time! Take lots of pictures!

Those cards are too funny! Is there an inside joke to go along with them?

Agreed on February, too. Psychologically, I always feel like the arrival of March signals the end of winter in Chicago, or at least the harshest part of it. Springtime gives me hope. =)

Unfortunately, there is no inside joke! I am just immature. The birthday card was for my brother, and when he opened the gift, he texted me and asked if it was butt-scented. LOL.

  8. Erin says:

My theory on February has always been that it’s the shortest month of the year because it’s the crappiest. If it was longer we’d all hang ourselves.

You always pick the best cards! I like it when cards make me laugh.

  9. Haha, I got that Butt Scented candle card for my birthday! My MIL got it for me as my dog likes to smell butts and she knew I’d find it hilarious. 🙂

I never run with music any more. I don’t know if its because I’m too lazy to update my iPod or I’ve just gotten used to running without it. I used to not be able to go 1 mile without it, but now I run my longest distances with no music. Although, the more I think about it, I only use my iPod when I’m on the dreadmill. 1 mile on that thing seems like 3 miles outside.

  10. Stephany says:

The first two months of 2012 have not been great for me. I’m hoping March will be the start of good things, but judging by the fact I’m spending today in severe tooth pain, it’s not looking good.

I was in a blogging rut for some of February but I think dropping down to just 3 posts a week has helped me! Hope you can break out of yours soon.

  11. I go through luna bars so quickly. I eat at least one a day-chocolate peppermint stick is where it’s at! I hope March is better for you!

  12. Khushboo says:

I hope March is a better month for you…and luna bars really are the best!!

  13. martymankins says:

Blogging ruts are ok. I get them every so often. I went from posting every day for 10 days to not posting anything for 6 days. Most of mine is blamed on work stress and screwing up my personal mojo enough to not make time to blog.

  14. Etta says:

Late feb seems to be a time when a lot of people are in a rut. It’s the recovery time after Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s/Valentine’s.
