Mostly running related… er… oops.

  • I really liked Erin’s post on Tuesday about making running FUN. This post came at the perfect time, as that is my goal with running right now. And I plan on accomplishing it by being more of a social runner, and actually using my running club membership. So far I am off to a good start. I ran with Maggie Tuesday night (had a blast!) and some club members Wednesday am. I’ll run with Katie on Saturday. What makes running fun for you?

Photo from Maggie – don’t we look like Runner’s World cover models?

  • Of course, my other goal with being more of a social runner is to forget about pace (which I generally don’t worry about too much anyway) and just run the pace of the group. But! I do plan on signing up to run with some fasties too. So we’ll see what that does.
  • Guys, I need your input. I am not sure what to do with my Sunday Training posts. I’ve been keeping them for a few years, as I like to use them as a log of what I am doing, and also for reference (What should I wear when it’s 19°F? How much water will I need when it’s 85°F?). BUT – they are getting so damn boring. I enjoy writing them as the week goes by, but I don’t even feel like proof-reading them. They’re too long! I have a few ideas on how to shorten the training posts. What information would you want me to keep in them? Photos, pace, weather, how the run felt…? Something else? Nothing?
  • Last April I tried doing the monthly fashion challenge but lost interest in it after we had a death in the family and I got kind of depressed. Er… anyway, I am trying it again! I have been taking pictures of my outfits each day to post one large “30 Days of April Outfits” post at the end of the month. I wasn’t going to mention it because I though that would make it not happen (see goals post). Hmm, but I guess I just did. So, the goal with this is to wear something different every day. And my personal goal is not to look like a slob on the days I don’t have to go in to the office.

Running with friends makes it fun for me.
I like your training posts (especially when there are cute turtle photos) but I do admit I sometimes put off reading them because I know they’ll be a longer read. It’s interesting to see how much more you do than me. 😉
The fashion challenge sounds like a fun challenge. I am not sure I could go a whole month without rewearing the same things. I tend to wear the same things all the time, especially to work… but it’s tough getting ready for work at 5am… sometimes it’s easier to just wear something you wore the week before.

I will definitely wear items twice, just in a different outfit. Like… black cardigan… wear it all the time!

Thanks for your input (and honestly!). I have an idea for something new try 🙂 Still includes photos 🙂

Yes, you guys could be in the runners magazine for sure! I like the fashion pics..ALWAYS! :))

I really enjoy running with people – even people i don’t know. A few weeks ago I ran with a different group of people and it was fun to talk to them for the 12+ mile run.

i like your training weekly posts, but I find i can’t write my own because it just gets too long so I totally understand. I have been trying to find a new way to do them but idk. All my creative juices are being used at work so the blog is suffering.

  4. Maggie and I just realized how weirdly close our offices are located. Does this mean we can all go running sometime soon? I hope so!

    Miss running with you…

I adore your training posts. Just the way they are. So yes – I am useless 🙂

The only way i can keep running exciting is going to new places. I get so bored running the same paths….i am an adventurer!

  7. I am not a social runner at all. I have one friend that I run with occasionally, but honestly, she’s getting too fast for me. I want to push myself, but when someone else pushes me I get really irritated. I feel like if she gets any faster, I may just tackle her from behind. For me, running is more fun when I’m by myself. I sing along to my ipod, I play air drums, its just a good time.

For me, the VERY best way to keep running exciting is to try new gear (especially shoes!) But obviously it would get way too expensive to buy something new every time I was having trouble getting motivated. =)

Love the picture of you and Maggie!!! You really do look like Runners World cover models!

For your training posts, I personally read them with the intent of learning from whatever experiences you had on what did/didn’t work over time/that week/that day, etc. So I would love to hear any additional thoughts you have from that standpoint!

That reminds me I have a new pair of shoes to break in! 🙂

Thanks for your input! Maybe I can add a lessons learned to my new layout idea… hmm… Thanks again!

  9. I like idea of becoming a social runner! I am leaning towards that direction too. Initially, I started running after college to hold myself accountable with a goal and a deadline because I was used to having a team. Now, I need some friends to keep me motivated and accountable. It’s much more fun to run with friends!!!

Also, keep it up with the training logs. I have been doing the same, mainly to keep a record for myself of my weeks. It really helps when I am in a “reflecting on life” mood and it helps me get motivated to see others’ weeks!

Obviously by now you’ve already done your new training log post…. 🙂

I like that you liked my post on having fun while running. I hope taking some of the pressure off of your runs will make it more fun for you again. And, of course, running with new people!

I’m really looking forward to your fashion post at the end of April. So you’d better stick with that goal!

I didn’t mention this (or did I?) but on Sunday I was going to run 4 with one guy then we ran in to two people he knew in the parking lot! LOL, so, two new running friends. Fun how that works.

I am going strong on the fashion post! Having fun but I definitely have a uniform – blazer or sweater, w or w/o belt, dress or skirt.
