First 10-Miler

I keep forgetting I am running a race this Saturday!

The race wasn’t on my radar at all. In fact, I didn’t even know it existed! But a running club person posted about it on Facebook. If you have a team of ten from a running club you can compete for a trophy for overall fastest club. This person was looking for people to run.

I let him know I wouldn’t be much help with the overall time but I could help with being one of ten people!

So. It will be my first 10-miler. I have no goals for this race. Hopefully I will not start out too fast with some of the speedy people from my running club.

What race distances have you officially raced?

(It seems like I have asked this question before.)

I’ve done 5K, 3.5 miler, 10K, Nautical 10 (11.5?), half marathon and marathon. Okay, I did a 4 miler but I don’t count it as racing. In fact, that Nautical 10 was not “raced” either.  Hence, why neither of these distances are listed on my right sidebar under PRs. And who knows if the 10-miler will go on that list. Ha ha.

Ive done a ton of different race distances. 100m, 200, 400m, 800m, 5k, 3.5 miles, 5 miles, 10k, 15k, half marathon and soon a marathon!! ekk. I have never run a 10 miler I don’t think! Good luck this weekend! Enjoy it!

just so you know, the 10-miler is officially the “party distance” Have fun 🙂

    Have fun at the 10 miler. I’ve done one 10 miler. I haven’t done a 10K. I keep thinking I need to run a 10K!

  4. Anne says:

I’ve “raced” a 5k, and that’s it. Are you doing the Soldier Field run? One of my girlfriends has done it a few times and says it’s a lot of fun. Good luck!

  5. Erin says:

Sometimes I think the only distance I haven’t done is a 15K or whatever the Hot Chocolate race is. I guess that comes with racing the CARA circuit last year. Actually, I should put racing in quotes. Like you, I wasn’t much help with the scores 🙂

  6. Kelly says:

Is it the Soldier Field 10 miler? I’ll be volunteering there.

  7. Cary says:

    Which 10 miler?

10 miles is my FAVORITE distance. Strangely enough, I tend to have a better average pace for my 10-milers than I do for 5ks AND half marathons. I don’t know what it is about that distance, but I guess I just really get into my groove!

    Have fun!

I have completed races (whether *I* raced them or not! lol) in the 5K, 4 mile, 5 mile, 10K, 10 mile, half marathon, and marathon distances.

Have fun in yours this weekend!

I love the ten mile distance! A great race to try to run fast.

    data is awesome! Good luck

There is a very well-known 10 miler here: the Antwerp 10 Miles, but I haven’t done it (yet). They have weird distances here, so far I’ve done a couple of 11Ks, 8Ks, a 15K, in addition to 5Ks and 10Ks. I actually really liked the 15K distance so I would probably like the 10 Miles.
Anyway – good luck on this new distance for you (and stop calling yourself slow!)

Data is the one calling me slow! In my head, I’m a Kenyan!

Those distances are probably not weird for Europe! 🙂

I’ve never done a 10 miler either. I’ve done 5k, 8k, 5 miler, 10k, 15k, half marathon and full. I also ran the 400m and 800m in track in high school.

I wish you a fantastic race this weekend! Also, here is hoping and praying that the weather will turn out okay, especially after some of the recent weather disasters in the last few weeks!

I’ve done 5K, 10K, 10, and 13.1. And even though I’ve only run one 10-Miler ever, I have to say I think it’s my favorite race distance!

  14. Tracy says:

Are you doing soldier field? Because I am!!

  15. Kristina says:

Good luck! I actually like the idea of a 10-mile race. I’ve done 2 10-mile races, but years ago (seriously) and last year I had a 10-mile run for the final leg of a triathlon. For the very few trail races I’ve run, I feel that the race distances is a bit more random – I have an 8.6 mile race on Saturday, and another trail race was a 20K, 12.4 miles.
Enjoy the run – hope that it’s good weather for you!

Our grey cay Rocko is no where near as fast as Data. Hope the race is good. 10 miles seems like a reasonable distance.
