Training Week 136

Highlight of the Week: Running related – a surprise decent time at the 10 Miler on Saturday! Social life related – kayaking, picnicking, and beach-bumming with Erin on Sunday! It was the perfect way to take advantage of the super hot day! And spend time with my best friend. I can’t wait to do it again!

Lessons learned:

  • No need to run when my body tells me not to. I set out to get a few miles in Sunday morning but was a bit stiff from my race. No need to run through that.
  • The front facing iPhone camera makes me look like caca.
  • A run can sometimes make a headache feel better!
  • Sometimes a more adventurous run makes me more excited about running than just going out there and trying to run certain paces.

Reminders for next week:

  • Wear bug spray if your runs take you through the woods!

Im sure i mentioned this last week- but I love the weekly photo recap 🙂

Congrats on the 10 miler and another stellar week of training!!

Thank you! I am happy you like the photos! My recaps used to be much too long – I like this shorter format better 🙂

You did strength 2 days in a row? Brave girl…My arms just stopped hurting today…so glad you and Erin had a great time today! Must try kayaking. It has to be sort of like canoeing, right?

Strength was crazy this week. I am usually not sore right away but I was on Wednesday! And again on Thursday!

I have never canoed! I think kayaking is similar. Maybe easier? 🙂

Sounds like a great training week – you are a badass, by the way! And congrats on a good 10-miler. That is a great time, especially with hills! Hope you have a terrific Monday.

  4. Erin says:

Wait, you ran AFTER your race? I must be a lazy smack because I usually consider a race good enough. John has a kind-of joke about how a race is really good enough for double the miles on your training schedule since you run faster than a training run 🙂

I also had a great time on Sunday! And I love that my arms aren’t sore at all today. I must be in pretty good shape because I could definitely feel them working in that kayak!

I was hoping that a post race run would shake out my stiff legs. It didn’t help that much. My run this am felt good, thankfully!

My arms were not too sore from kayaking either! I guess we should go longer next time?!?!?!

The bugs are really bad so bug spray is pretty necessary but I always forget it.

    I love the pictures!

  6. Wow! Sounds like an exciting week!
