Random Thoughts Thursday XVII

By , June 7, 2012 6:22 am
  • I think I might be getting heartburn. I’ve had a burning sensation in my chest during runs on Monday and Tuesday and while drinking Chai Lattes yesterday and today. Wah. Why is this happening now? It really hurts!

  • They paved the trail by our house yesterday! I was already running on it, but know it’s even more inviting.

  • What is your criteria for actually going to the theater to see a movie? Ours is that is must have some visual aspect that makes it worth seeing on the big screen… so usually action films. BUT! If someone else is paying, I will go. Or if the tickets are cheap. We get a coupon for $5 movies on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week, and we might see The Dictator tonight. I hope it makes me laugh. I have no idea what it is about.
  • There is a blogger interview event going on tonight in Chicago that I could not attend because I have an appointment in the suburbs. The interview is going to be with a draft pick for the Chicago Bears. It is probably better that I do not go, since I know nothing about football. But I am excited to see the interviews from my fellow bloggers!
  • I feel like a hussy in the dress I am wearing today despite wearing it before ( #16).
  • I am dreading an event today (not listed above) and will be so happy when it’s over!

ok, now I want to come run on that trail SO BADLY!

our theater criteria are pretty much like yours. otherwise I’d rather spend the $ on something else.

that dress is way cute, so knock off the hussy talk sexy girl!

I’m also dreading an event today. but at the same time looking forward to it being OVER 🙂

  2. Emily says:

Yikes, sorry to hear about the pending heartburn! I’ve found that Maalox and Pepto Bismol both work wonders!!!

I never see movies in the theater. I always prefer to watch them at home in the comfort of my own living room. That way I can pause it and go to the bathroom or the fridge whenever I want to. =D

I think #16 is a great dress! No reason to feel anything but fabulous in it!!

I feel for you with the event you are dreading. If you’re like me you have this knot of fear in the pit of your stomach. But I am thinking about you and praying that it goes well and ends quickly!!! (I have my own event of which I am apprehensive about, which takes place on Monday. Will tell you more about it either offline or in person during this Saturday’s race).

Speaking of which, yay for the 13.1 half this Saturday! It’ll be so great to see you and to meet some of the other bloggers, too! And the weather looks like it’s going to be nice, at least in the morning!!!

Thanks for the heartburn recs! If this keeps up, I need to find something to use.

We LOVE to watch movies at home. We watch quite a few a week! I do want to see Batman on the big screen though, and enjoyed The Avengers.

My event is over. It is probably not as serious as yours. I was being a baby.

Can’t wait to see you on Saturday! 🙂

  3. CourtneyInControl says:

    Boo heartburn!! No good!!
We rarely go to the movies, usually only out of town. We did see The Dictator over Memorial Day Weekend and it cracked me up!! I thought it was very funny!!
WOW!! I so wish I lived in the Chicago area so I could go to the blogger interview event with the Bears draft pick!! So awesome!!! I would gladly go for you!!! :o)
I like the dress you are wearing today!! I think it looks great on you!!
I hope your dreaded event goes by quickly and you can enjoy the rest of the day!!!
    =^..^=

    • kilax says:

I didn’t even think to tell you about the Bears thing! Sigh! I told my BiL, since he knows about these things. Too bad I cannot go.

      (Dreaded event is over!!!)

  4. Maggie says:

Awww you’re not going to be there tonight 🙁 Sadness. I saw the Dictator a couple weekends ago. It’s funny although I still think Borat was his best movie of that genre.

  5. abbi says:

I have not seen a movie in a theater in YEARS so our criteria must be pretty high! 🙂 Yay to the trail being paved!

  6. Pam Fench says:

I.can’t wait until the dictator comes out on DVD! I wanna see it so bad! However it didn’t make the “see t in a theater” cut.

  7. I go to the movies maybe once a year. Apparently, the sun, Venus and Mars must be in alignment in order for us to go!

  8. I wanted to go to the meet and greet tonight, but can’t make it. My roommate and I have had this spa night planned for 2 months- she would have killed me!

And I just realized now that I received your txt as I was running last night and didn’t respond! SO SORRY! But I think my chance to run again has passed. 🙁 Next week is my late week… sigh… But now maybe we can do lunch every once in a while, right?!?!?! (squeal!)

  9. kandi says:

The caption on the trail picture cracked me up. I heart you.
We tend to only see action movies in theater but have also been known to go to a few comedies.

  10. J says:

WE hardly go to the movies – we just wait till they are on TV. I can’t even remember the last movie that I went to – I think it was Sex and the City 2. lol

  11. Kristina says:

What a great-looking trail! Have fun on it!

As for movie-watching, it depends on the movie and, I’ve discovered, the time of year (what’s going on in our life). If it is an action movie, though, we’re pretty cautious since we’ve seen some doozies!

  12. gina says:

    The trail is a beauty!

I’m jealous that you are going to le movies! Have fun!

You may have to avoid the foods that are giving you heartburn for a little while. In the meantime, TUMS are your friends.

  13. Michel says:

Ahh heartburn. My only relief before was pepcid.

The last movie I saw at the theater was Star Trek. Hello 2009. That’s a very long time ago!

  14. Anne says:

Heartburn is the worst! There’s a pepcid out there that you take before you eat, and that usually works for me (though I do have prescription heartburn medicine too).

I see maybe 2 movies a year in the theater, and often it’s because someone else invites me. I’m totally fine to wait for movies to make it to cable/pay-per-view and just watch them at home.

  15. diane says:

I go to movies TOO MUCH. But that will probably change really quick now that my numero uno movie buddy has moved away. 🙁
Tums, Maalox…over the counter Zantac. All good choices for heartburn…I know the burn all too well.

  16. Christina says:

I don’t like any of the Sacha Baron Cohen movies. I think he’s f*cking stupid!! I wouldn’t go see that one. We go to the theatre to see movies that we think look good, whether they are action or not. We just saw Snow White and the Huntsman and really liked it!!! The theatre close to our house has an early bird matinee on the weekends, so we went and saw Snow White the weekend it came out for $5! Its a really nice theatre, just as cool as the one downtown. Maybe when you guys come we can go see a movie there. (We have 2 free tix because when we were there this weekend the power went out and we had a “intermission” of about 10 minutes before the movie started playing again! So now we have 2 free tix to any movie in any type of theatre there even though our tix were the cheapest… hellsss to the yeah. So we are thinking 3D movie with cinema seats when we go back.. 😉 )

  17. Mica says:

    Hope “the event” went okay!

I’m pretty picky about movies I see, so I usually only go to ones that I have been anticipating for several weeks/months. Though sometimes, I get in for free at the local theater, so I’ll see a bunch of random stuff (“Transformers 3″…having seen neither 1 nor 2).

  18. Erin says:

Ugh. Heartburn/indigestion. I started getting it a few years ago when I eat certain foods. Not sure why. Maybe stress related?

I hope the dreaded event went as well as it could. Sometimes the anticipation is worse than the actual event.

And yay for a paved trail!

  19. Gingerfoxxx says:

Chai lattes give me heartburn too!! I thought i was the only one. Damn you, Chai! I would like to meet this lovely trail!

  20. Kiersten says:

I usually only end up going to the theater if someone else invites me, so it is usually more to be social than because I care about the movie. Or if it is too cold and nasty out in the winter to do anything outside!

  21. Etta says:

Before G was born, we used to go to the movies quite often. It’s always been where we’d go on dates. We’re pretty frugal otherwise. We love the movies. I haven’t been since last July, which seems crazy to me.

  22. martymankins says:

For the last 5 years, I’ve. Been taking Prilosec for my heartburn. One pill a day works. I’ve had many talks with others who say if I change more of my diet, I won’t need to take it anymore. I’ve made some changes, but still get bad if it’s been more than a day since I’ve taken one.
