Halloween 2012

I think a few of you had a clue to our Halloween costumes after my Wordless Wednesday picture last week… right?

From L to R: Me, Steven, Aunt Sue, Mom, Dad

A gorilla and a bunch of bananas!

Bar crawling on Halloween with my family has turned in to somewhat of a tradition. In 2010, all the siblings and significant others went out, with my mom and a family friend (CJ). Steven and I were lacking costumes:

In 2011, we were prepared with costumes, and drug* my dad and Aunt Sue out with us:

This year, my older brother and sister couldn’t make it! So it was a smaller group, but we still had a blast. And hopefully, the entire group will be together next year.

The first person who can name CJ’s costume (far left) and was NOT there on Saturday (or Anne, who I told) will get a prize in the mail from me.

I really dig group costumes. Have you ever been part of a group costume? What was it?

People were really in to our group of bananas and gorilla. Almost every bar we went to had someone yelling “Bananas!” when we entered. Well, except the first bar, where they opened the door and joked “your kind is not welcome here.” And then there were the people who thought we were a white supremacist group… umm… no.

We picked up a few stray bananas:

And had an encounter with a (sick?!) monkey:

and apparently, a can of beer…:

We also ran in to another family member:

I used certain parts of my banana to aid me in dancing to “Sexy and I Know It.”

And was relieved when I saw people dancing Gangnam style in the third bar (they weren’t in the first – I was doing it all by myself!**).

We had such a good time. It’s just so fun to go out and see everyone’s costumes! And to act goofy and not be judged for it. Okay, be judged for it, but pretend to blame it on Halloween – even though I am pretty wild on my own. Ha!

And… a few random photos:

*Dragged? HA! Almost have to drug him to get him to come.
**Story of my life. Ha.

  4. I love the picture of you dancing. Your face looks so devious!!!

  5. I sort of love everything about your group costumes. Hilarious!

  6. kelsey says:

you are the sexiest banana I’ve ever seen.

  7. It’s so cute that your whole family dresses up together each year. I’m not a huge fan of Halloween, but in college a few girlfriends and I dressed up as three blind mice and the farmer’s wife.

  10. hahahah I absolutely loved this! Really made me smile this morning.

“We picked up a few stray bananas” lmao, not a sentence you read everyday!

I think I’ve heard of people having nightmares about being chased by a person dressed in a banana outfit. A whole family of bananas might just drive these people over the edge. Gah!!!

    🙂

  12. Maggie says:

Hahaha this is awesome. Especially the picture of you dancing with your, um … banana.

  13. haha I love the costumes! You guys look awesome. 🙂

  14. It looks like you had so much fun and I love your costumes! Banana suits are always so ridiculous looking!

I love group costumes too. In college one year my housemates and I all dressed up as characters from Clue (I was professor plum) and then another year we were characters from Alice in Wonderland. I haven’t celebrated too many “adult” Halloweens but I can imagine that group costumes would be a hit at a bar.

I love everything about this post. Your costumes are great and I love that so many other people are dressed up. What fun!

  16. Michel says:

This is great. You guys are bananas. I laughed so hard at your “sexy and I know it” picture that poor Scaredy Cat ran off the bed. LOL.

I also enjoyed the pictures of Halloweens past. The Dexter and victim costume is one of my all time faves!

That was so creative of my sis and her bf last year! This year she was a ninja turtle, and I am not sure if her (now) fiance dressed up.

  18. What a fun idea! I think group costumes are the way to go on Halloween. It’s just so much more fun that way! A few years ago I wanted my friends and I to be one of the seven deadly sins (although there were only 4 of us) but it fell through 🙁

  19. gina says:

Oh man, that all looks like so much fun! I really liked your costume idea this year!

Awesome costumes. I love how packed that party is you went to.

And yes, I have done a group costume before.. well, a duo. My wife and I were penguins 3 years ago
