Helper Cat Replacement

By , December 10, 2012 6:35 am

Sorry Helper Cat, I have some one else to help me wrap gifts!

Last week someone was bragging to me about how they have ALL of their holiday shopping done and ALL of their presents wrapped.

Crap.

Uhh. Yeah. Despite early discussions of gift buying, it’s still a work in progress. Don’t worry! Panic mode WILL NOT be happening this year. But that person made me feel like I needed to step up my game.

So Saturday was spent shopping it up at the outlet mall,

and Friday and Saturday night spent wrapping gifts.

Okay, okay, let’s be honest… I only bought presents for four people on Saturday – 80% of that bag haul is my mom and grandma’s.

And… my mom wrapped all my gifts for me! MUAH HA HA HA!

I texted her on her way out here from Iowa on Thursday, asking if she would help me wrap… and she did ALL the work. All I did was help get paper, ribbon and stickers out, and answer questions about which wrapping paper I thought looked the nicest. The only gift she didn’t wrap was her own.*

Mom, please come back and wrap the rest of my holiday gifts that I have yet to buy. Or should I just mail them directly to your house for you to wrap?

How is everyone doing with shopping and wrapping?

I only have a few more people left on my gift list, and I have ideas on what to get them all, so I feel pretty good about it all! But I do dread the wrapping part. Ha ha.

And in case you were wondering, Helper Cat did make an appearance…

  1. Pepper is not a very good helper at wrapping gifts. She walks on the paper as I’m trying to measure it out, and tries licking the tape. Also, she likes to destroy presents that are already wrapped (she did this yesterday for the first time ever). She should just stick to something she’s good at. Like being a brat.

I am no where near being done. I usually finish on Christmas Eve. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!!

You are well ahead of me! I still have a few gifts to buy and I haven’t wrapped a single gift!

  3. gina says:

YAY for Helper Mom! I have to get my butt in gear, I still have some shopping left to do as well as ALL my wrapping. OH BOY.

  4. Kim says:

Our cat growing up used to eat the ribbons… then throw them up. Festive.

  5. Emily says:

That picture of Helper Cat is hilarious!!! I really only have one more present to get, which is for my mom… and she’s tough to shop for. I’m not big on wrapping gifts, either (I love when friends do their wedding registries at Bed Bath and Beyond since the store takes care of the wrapping for you, LOL).

This kinda makes me panic a little bit! I still have shopping left to do- with NO ideas!! Your gifts look beautiful!!! Personally, I think that gifts that don’t have any cat teeth marks/bites/scratches are not quite perfect yet- the cat bites/scratches seem to add something- at least in my warped mind (and that would be because all my gifts have these)!! 🙂
I do heart Data!! He is so photogenic and it is so nice of him to lend his paw to you!!
    =^..^=

I’ve been done with shopping since black friday. Wrapping is an entirely different story. I normally tape everything in a plastic grocery bag and call it a day.

    My family loves its.

  8. Pete B says:

Great pic of “Helper Cat” acting all innocent next to those presents. My dog unwraps (i.e. tears the paper off) of any presents under the tree so they have to be put up high until X-Mas!

  9. ChezJulie says:

Helper Cat indeed looks very innocent. I can only imagine what wrapping presents with two Devon Rex kittens in the house is going to be like! I still have some shopping to do and all my wrapping. Yikes!

  10. Erin says:

Helper Mom is much more helpful than Helper Cat.

I have a few more things to buy (guess what I’m doing during lunch today) for people but I should be done this week. I still feel a little frantic about it, though! Like I’m forgetting something.

  11. Etta says:

I still have one gift left to make and a few to buy. And by a few I mean most of the gifts on our list.

  12. Kiersten says:

If I was closer I would totally be your helper cat. I LOVE wrapping presents!

  13. Marcia says:

Haha helper cat! I am nowhere near done shopping and at zero % wrapped. I will inevitably forget where I hid stuff and forget to give it at all. I think I have a wrapped game down in my hiding spot from 2008.

  14. Marlene says:

Panic is starting to set. But panicking is far more enjoyable than shopping, so I think I’ll procrastinate a bit longer. 🙂

  15. Love the pics of the cats, Kim! So cute!

  16. Anne says:

Oh that’s so cool that your mom did all your gift wrapping! And that’s an impressive haul!

I’m about done with most of my shopping, though I haven’t gotten anything for my parents just yet, or for my mom’s birthday on Friday (it always gets kind of lost in the holidays), but that’s partly because I won’t see them until January. I haven’t even thought about wrapping anything yet!

  17. Ok – I need to figure out a way to get my mom to wrap my gifts too. You know, once I actually get it together and buy them. I’ve been trying so hard to get my Christmas shopping done and out of the way. Yesterday I went out with such good intentions and somehow I bought myself shoes. It’s not going so well.

  18. Losing Lindy says:

I haven’t started wrapping yet, I am so sad about Christmas this year. I can’t give like I want to.
