Random Thoughts Thursday 40

  • Just in case you don’t know what a microwave is supposed to do… ha ha ha.

  • Speaking of microwaves, we don’t have one. Never have, in our house. People think that is odd. How often do you use a microwave? I think it’s funny when I am at someone else’s home and don’t think to use it. I am so used to using the stove! I do use the microwave at work though. When it’s not broken.
  • Obligatory first racerback burn of the year pic! This tan happens to me each year, and it just makes me laugh. However, I better watch it next year. Depending on what kind of dress my sister has me wear for her June wedding… that could look really bad!

  • Steven is back! He was gone Saturday afternoon – Wednesday afternoon visiting his family in Kansas City. I had an entire post listing funny things I do when he’s not home… but it wasn’t so funny. So I didn’t post it. Ha ha.

Left a little note for him in the car.

  • I FINALLY registered for my ACE exam on July 25th! Yay! I had another long post about that, and how I realized I am a planner who doesn’t like to set goals, but need to feel like I am accomplishing things each day to feel happy… blah blah blah. It was long and boring-o. Basically, I need to study each day to not feel panicked about the test. Even though I hate goals and plans to achieve them… I gotta stick with this one.Β

  • I wanted to follow up with the “Oh, Brother” post and let you know that Matt was the first to correctly guess that a “leg tube” is a foam roller. Matt got his new foam roller last weekend!

I love that you are a planner who doesn’t like to set goals. I adore planning, but then I refuse to follow my own plan. πŸ˜‰ Happy Thursday!!!

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha! Are you a self-sabotager, like me?!

      Happy FRIDAY!!! πŸ™‚

Hope I get to see you on Monday πŸ™‚

  2. Beth says:

The top photo with the microwave sign totally reminds me of the Passive Aggressive Notes site, which is hilarious if you haven’t seen it. So sorry you got sunburned! Hopefully that will go away quickly. Your note for your hubby is so sweet! Hmm, maybe I should leave a note for my fiance in his car… Have a great day!

    • kilax says:

Yes! I was trying to think of what it reminded me of, and that is it! The thing is, I think the lady who wrote it was being sweet. Which makes it even funnier!

Aww, I bet your fiance would like a note, too πŸ™‚

  3. Heather says:

I still have my racerback tan from last summer!! I swear it’s never going away. πŸ™‚

  4. That microwave note is so funny! I can’t believe you don’t own one! I use mine several times a day, and can’t imagine what I would do without it.
I have that same tan already!

  5. EmilyJ says:

So excited for your ace exam!!! Just wore a spaghetti strap tank yesterday to try and get rid of the same racer back tan. Don’t think it’ll stay away for long though πŸ˜‰

  6. Declan says:

Ahhhh running tanlines! Both a badge of honor and laughter! I use the microwave as a timer half the time lol Or to heat up some mac and cheese for my kid.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha! I know a few people who use it as a timer and have asked me to when I am at their home, and I am all “uh… how does this thing work again?!”

  7. Anne says:

Is that microwave at work? We have the same old school microwaves at my office, heh. We have a microwave, but before I lived with Bob I never had one! My brother got so annoyed with that on one visit, he bought me one (but instead of doing it while he was here, he mailed it to me and I had to lug the damn thing up 3 flights of stairs myself!). And I always forgot I had it and never used it. I still rarely use ours, so I could probably do without it.

I have so many different burn lines right now, it’s crazy. I was so worried about that last summer because of my wedding! So I’m happy I can just burn freely again this year. Do they make racerback bridesmaids dresses? πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

It is the microwave at work! Those things last F-O-R-E-V-E-R!!! Oh my gosh. What did your brother want to use the microwave for so badly?!

      Burn line pic!!!!

Ha. I wonder if they do make raceback dresses. They would not be so flattering…

  8. Kristina says:

We don’t have a microwave, although I’ve had one in the past. I do use the one at work, when I take my lunch (very rare these days…).
Good luck with the ACE exam!

  9. Xaarlin says:

I didn’t have a microwave for a long time either. And now that I have one I generally don’t use it. I prefer the stove or oven πŸ™‚ (but I also don’t buy anything condusive to microwave “cooking.” No, it’s not cooking if you heat it in the microwave.)

So happy you scheduled your test!

That racer back tan is brutal! I got burned so bad 2 years ago in a race I think I still have tan lines!!! Looks like you might need some spray ran for next year? Haha
Aww Dates, the study cat. CB isn’t personal trainer/supervisor. Haha

    • kilax says:

Oh gosh. Things taste SO MUCH BETTER heated up on the stove or in the oven. Like… it’s life altering. Have you ever heated up pizza in a pan on the stove? A little oil, very low heat, man, is it WORTH the wait! So crispy and delicious!!!! NOMZ!!!!

I am wondering about spray tan! But those look so fake. Maybe I will wear long sleeves? SIGH! Why can’t my snis have her wedding in the winter?!!?!?!!?

  10. Soo many kitty pictures!!

We have a microwave but I don’t use it very often, only to heat up leftovers on occasion (like 3x a month?). Things just taste better cooked in the oven.

  11. Erin says:

I use the microwave every morning to make my oatmeal. Since I am not a morning person I like that it only takes 4 minutes which lets me sleep in a little bit longer πŸ™‚

I also use it to steam some vegetables. Although I didn’t poke deep enough holes in the spaghetti squash I was making on Tuesday night and it exploded in the microwave. It was pretty hilarious, actually.

Good for you for signing up to take the exam! Now that you have a deadline it will probably help you stick to your study plans πŸ™‚

  12. Kim says:

    Yay for scheduling your test!!!

  13. Michelle says:

Glad he’s home safe and sound! And funny, I only use my microwave mainly
To boil water for my tea. I’m a stove girl too!

  14. Christina says:

Love the nudey pic! Ow ow!!

Why did you start numbering your posts instead of roman numeraling them??

    • kilax says:

      Gracias!!!

LOL. Since I had to look up which roman numeral I was on, I figured other people didn’t know either, so I went to actual numbers πŸ˜‰

  15. Kandi says:

My mom uses her microwave all the time! I use mine considerably less. I even considered getting rid of it but Joey thinks we need it. I use it to heat water for tea, reheat leftovers (very rarely as I prefer the toaster oven), and to heat up canned veggies. I could easily go without it though. I the microwave at work more often than my own at home.
You made me realize I need to pay attention to my tan lines this summer since I’m in a wedding with a strapless dress in August.

    • kilax says:

I only use it at work! Craziness! But that is because we don’t have a stove at work. Ha ha. And I used to use a kettle for tea… and now I use the Keurig – true laziness!

  16. What a tan! Do you burn at all? Were you going to consider long sleeves in the summer? Might be hot but worth no tan lines! πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

Yeah, I burn at first, then it turns in to a tan. I am still a bit red for the all day Chocolate Fest on 5/5. Oops.

I am considering light, long sleeves. I don’t want to look like an idiot (more than usual, ha!) at her wedding!

  17. Tara says:

Hi! Thanks for your comment about keeping at it. πŸ™‚ I’m trying.

We don’t have a microwave, either! I just heat up leftovers on the stove or in the toaster oven, and I hardly miss it.

  18. Can we have a party for you when you pass your exam?! I have a chocolate fountain and all …

  19. Losing LIndy says:

If your sister is smart she already knows that you will need a racerback dress πŸ˜‰

  20. Two things I love about this post- the look on your face in your tan selfie and Steven’s luscious locks in the picture of him and data!!!!

    • kilax says:

Steven has the nicest hair! At his last job, he overhead some girls saying “men shouldn’t have nicer hair than women.” Ha!

  21. My grandma hates to cook. I used to live with them and I remember the microwave died one day. She went out immediately and bought another huge, expensive microwave. She couldn’t survive without that thing.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha! That seems so unusual for a grandma! Well, at least most of the grandmas I knew were slaves to the stove πŸ˜‰

  22. Mica says:

Was Data happy about that portrait? I can see him grumbling about it….

  23. martymankins says:

I use a microwave often. Not for frozen meals, but to heat up water or for leftovers.
