July – Sept Races!

By , July 24, 2013 10:19 am

It’s weird to think that I haven’t raced since the Chicago Women’s Half with Anne on June 23rd! Whoa! It’s been a month! But hey, once I race with Anne, why would I want to race again, unless I could do it with her? Hee hee hee.

The only thing I was registered for at the time of the Chicago Women’s Half, was the Full Moon 5K in Madison tomorrow night, with Rachel (can’t wait!!!!). But in the past couple of weeks, I have added a few more races! Here is what I have upcoming for July – Sept (and you can always see my schedule here):

  • July 27 – Tread the Trail for Epilepsy 5K in Garnavillo, IA with my dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • August 11 – Iron Girl Triathlon Relay in Pleasant Praire, WI with Chris and Judy!!! Our multisport club is sponsoring us, i.e., paid for our entry!
  • September 7 – Lung Run 10K in Chicago, IL with Anne! If all goes well, this will be a PR attempt. My 51:00 PR from 2009 is a bit old.
  • September 15 – North Face Endurance Challenge (NFEC) Half Marathon in Eagle, WI with Rachel! We ran the 50K last year (with Kovas!) and had so much fun! We’ve decided this year, we are going to do the half as slow as the 50K, to make the fun last even longer. Just kidding! North Face is giving me a free entry to this race, and if you want to enter any of the Wisconsin or Georgia NFEC events, use xxx! (code removed for privacy reasons)

That’s it for now! There are two other races I am looking at in September, but have not signed up for yet.

What is on your calendar for the rest of July through September?

  1. I have this small thing called Hood to Coast. Ya know, NBD. And I just registered for a fall half – Fort4Fitness – on Sept. 28 here in FW. I see you’re free that weekend …

I’m amped b/c the paper is paying for it as I’m blogging about the road leading up to it and it’s where I PR’d – THREE years ago. It’s also in my hood so I know where all the “hills” are.

    • kilax says:

That is cool that you are blogging about the race and that the paper is paying for it!

I hope HTC is as awesome as everyone acts like it is! 🙂

    • I was just logging on to tell Kim S. to run F4F because it is just the #BestHalfMarathonEver and then I casually glanced at Aby’s XC schedule and realized that she doesn’t have a meet that day. OMGosh, my heart dropped. We haven’t been able to F4F for the last 2 years b/c of XC. My entire family runs it every year! I’m soooooo excited. Going over to register now. It’s not like I’m already registered for two other Sept halfs and a 20 miler or anything else. WhooooHoooooo!!!

Kim S – Come! I’ll give you a ride if you can deal with the kids.

      • kilax says:

Ahhh! That is so awesome that you are going to be able to do it?! And I am invited to watch the kids?! Hee hee 🙂 Aby can almost run a HM now, right?

  2. Awesome list of diverse races! At this point, I am signed up for nothing but a fall marathon and actually trying to keep it like that. We’ll see how long that lasts…I’m a bit addicted to races 🙂

    • kilax says:

It’s so tricky when you have a fall marathon coming up and still want to race! Longer races become part of longer runs, shorter races are run on tired legs… still fun though! 🙂

  3. Declan says:

Busy lady!!! Good luck and have fun on those races! The recaps will be great i’m sure.

No more races for me until the Chicago Marathon! You’ll race more in one month than I even have planned for years lol

    • kilax says:

LOL! In comparison, you do make it seem like I race a lot! 😉 I am usually between 15-20 a year, I think. Most of it is social though, and no speed focused 😉

  4. Rachel says:

So you and your dad aren’t doing the Shithouse Run? Sad. 🙁

I’ll probably do the Madison Mini on my bday and then North Face and Fox Cities on 9/22! That’s about it for now.

That finish line picture makes me so happy.

    • kilax says:

Hee hee! We didn’t even end up talking about Shithouse! And the weather looks like it will be so nice!

You have a fun schedule coming up!!!!!

      I love that pic too!!!!

  5. Sarah J says:

You should come up and do Fox Cities Marathon/Half with all of us in September and Tyranena half in November. It’ll be fuuuun!

  6. Anne says:

I’m pretty sure this post could have ended after the first paragraph. Just a PSA so your readers know what a joy it is to race with me 🙂

Also, note that you attempting to PR at the Lung Run means we won’t actually be running together! But I’m SO GLAD you joined my team, and hopefully (maybe? perhaps?) I’ll see you at brunch after 😉

My calendar now through Sept is pretty quiet – just ZOOMA with Katie on 08/10, the Lung Run 10k (obvi), and it sounds like the Wurst Running Club Ever is going to tackle the St. Michael’s Oktoberfest 5k on 09/19.

    • kilax says:

I was going to end it, but I had to get the NFEC code in – honesty. I mean #honesty (?).

I thought we were running the 10K together at my PR pace? Whaaaa? JK! We still get to wear team shirts, right? And I should be able to do brunch this time – in theory, I don’t need to get home to study after.

      What about the wine 5K?!

      • Anne says:

AH! I knew I was forgetting something! The wine race is so much about Bob finally becoming a Half Marathoner (talk about late to the party, right?) that I forgot I’m running too! Woops.

I did PR at the Lung Run last year, but I don’t think I can PR *that* much! 🙂

    • Rachel says:

I feel like its a battle between Anne and I over racing with you! 🙂

  7. Pete B says:

Good luck with your 10k PR attempt. I always bolt out too fast with those 5k/10k combos as I try to keep up with the 5kers. So, my 10k PR was done with positive splits. I don’t have a plan until the Marathon. I really need one. 🙂

    • kilax says:

I am not sure I have many PRs that are NOT positive splits.

You don’t have a racing plan or a running plan?! 😉

      • Pete B says:

No and no. I need to get both soon or I might start training by “feeling” and get into trouble, cause I always get that “feeling” that leads to over-training. 🙁

    • Anne says:

Actually, the 10k usually starts before the 5k… but obviously Kim will be trying to keep up with me right out of the gate 🙂

  8. I might do a half in August and I am signed up for Al’s Run, an 8k here in Milwaukee, in September. Racing is fun! I have been wanting to find a 10k to do. Surprisingly enough I have never done a 10k before.

  9. Courtney Ilax says:

Aww man kim that means you won’t be at Thomas 5th birthday this year 🙁 I hope you guys can make it back for at least Nicky, celebrating it on October 5th since his birthday is that sunday 🙂 Though good luck on the race!

    • kilax says:

Aww, sorry! 🙁 I have plans the weekend of Nicky’s party, but maybe we can come if they fall through! I think we are planning to come for Halloween again at the end of the month 🙂

  10. Kandi says:

I’m always amazed at how many races you do each year. I haven’t raced since the end of April. I only have one race on my schedule so far and that’s a half marathon in Sept.

  11. Erin says:

What? Only one race in August? What’s wrong with you?? Just kidding 🙂

  12. bobbi says:

NOTHING. I have ZERO on my race calendar. Weird.

I may do the rally for autism 8/17. And I may do F2B. And that’s it. Must go race shopping soon…

  13. Sounds like a fun list of races. I’m doing the Irongirl sprint tri in Clermont in September and am looking forward to it!

  14. Alyssa says:

I have the Camp Courageous Sprint Tri in August 3 and then the big half Iron August 18. I promised myself to not sign up for any additional races until after that race. But my friend Laura already two races for this fall.
I also really want to do the century ride at the Potosi Brewery ride. I just need to convince Matt that it is a good idea.

  15. Courtney says:

Wow, you are going to be busy!! Your 5k Full Moon race sounds pretty cool- that will be fun!!
    =^..^=

  16. Kristina says:

I always feel that there is an ebb and flow to the race calendar – for me, at least. I was thinking about a long trail run, but I might do one more tri in October and call the 2013 racing season over. Maybe.
Did you check out the Smash kits? You’d look so good in one!!

    • kilax says:

It’s good to keep your options open like that! I was really liking having an open calendar. Then these races kind of fell in my lap (it did help that two were paid for by someone else).

I still can’t get their site to load! I looked at the cute ones on their FB page though! Thanks!

  17. Xaarlin says:

    Good luck tonight!

Why does te NFEC have to be the week before FVM!?! I want to run it with you. I’m a sad panda. 🙁

  18. Ian says:

I’ll see you at some of those

Running: Aug – Muddy Monk Nearly Sane trail half, Windrunner 10k, Sep to TBC (either HOBO or North Face)

Working races: Iron Girl, Chicago Tri expo, WTTW 5k, Oak Brook half, Lung Run, GLASA Twlight 5k, Nature 5k, CARA 20 miler

Training: Lots of miles for marathons in Oct and Nov

  19. Valerie says:

Looks like a fun lineup of races! I bet you will beat your 10k PR…which is already super fast- wowzers! So excited to do Iron Girl with you too!

  20. EmilyJ says:

Look at you with all these fun races! Woot woot!
