Gettin’ festive up in here!

With whom do you spend the winter holidays?

Thanksgiving is always spent here, with friends. And except for being stuck in Chicago in 2007*, we rotate every other Christmas – Steven’s family one year, mine the next. We see whichever family we didn’t see on Christmas day in January. I actually really like spreading the cheer out. Ha. And buying gifts after Christmas, as well.

This year is Steven’s family’s turn! And! His dad and brother are coming here. We only get a real tree if we have guests coming** for the holiday*** , so I am excited we get to do that this year! We will probably cut it down, ourselves!

And…

AND…

AND!!!

This year, Steven said I could get an inflatable lawn decoration! AHHH! I AM SO EXCITED! Guess which one I chose from the picture below! Darth or Yoda?!

Don’t worry. I am not going to put it out until the day after Thanksgiving. And I plan to only have one. For now. Muah ha ha.

And! I got this sweater. Anne recommended two holiday cat sweaters from Target – one for me, and one for Steven! Sigh. I couldn’t convince Steven to get the men’s one, so I got it for me. Ha.

Don’t worry, mom! I will wear the black cat shirt this holiday season, too!

Can you tell I am feeling a little festive? Hee hee. I know some people aren’t happy to be hearing holiday music right now, but I was sad it wasn’t playing yet on November 1st!

*OMG, the post in that link is SO dramatic. Get a grip, 2007 Kim! Ha ha.
**When it’s my family’s turn, we travel to Iowa.
***Otherwise we put out a little fake one.

I’ve been feeling festive really early this year too! I know a lot of people get annoyed by super early holiday cheer, but dammit, it IS the most wonderful time of the year (unless yo’ure Grumpy Cat). Love the sweater so much, and I can’t wait to see your yard all decked out!

I toads remember weather problems around Christmas 2007. It was the first year I spent with Bob, so I took the Amtrak home a few days before Christmas, and it took 8 HOURS to go not even 300 miles. But thankfully my return trip on Christmas day wasn’t backed up.

It’s funny to me to see everyone so annoyed. I know, I know. That’s bad πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for finding the sweater!

Geesh! And you wouldn’t think Amtrak would be THAT late (even though they always are a bit, right)? lol

Love the sweater! Is there a dog one too!?

CB says he hopes you chose Yoda.

I’m kind of meh about the holiday season. Maybe it’s because of not really being near my family since before 2006 and the crappy relationship I was in. Although I do think having to socialize with loads of people for turkey day or Christmas would be anxiety producing. So I like just spending a quiet day with my boyz. πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

They did have a dog sweater! It was really mopey and ugly though… apparently, it’s so bad, they don’t even have it on their site.

I let Steven choose! And he did chose Yoda πŸ™‚

I am sorry the season brings back bad memories! Totally only spend time with the people you want to! That is what we do!

  3. oh.em.gee. i’m guessing yoda.

not quite there for christmas yet, but i love thanksgiving. always have, so i try to soak up fall and all it’s glory until then. it has become the great debate in our household since d loves christmas. our families are so large though that holiday celebrations are overwhelming and stressful. we usually switch off who we celebrate with, but d’s parents always guilt trip us when we aren’t present at their holiday celebration (which btw is usually the reason for stress since all of his adult siblings cannot get along and fights generally break out).

honestly, some years we’ve thought about jumping ship and taking a trip.

I’m not sure why or how but I’ve actually already done about half of my christmas shopping! So you’re definitely not the only one.

    I’m hoping for Yoda!

And…you look cute in that sweater!

  5. Rachel says:

The Yoda one is so cute, but Darth has a lightsaber! So hard to choose! You couldn’t talk Steven into both??

I have one Christmas gift done so far. I need to get crackin’!

    • kilax says:

Sigh! No! And I really wanted Darth but he wanted Yoda and I let him choose since he was being nice enough to let me get one. Ha ha ha.

You are ahead of me! I have zero! But a few things in mind. Since I won’t see my family until January (and that is the bulk of my buying), I am not too worried about it.

  6. Pete B says:

I hope you bought both Darth and Yoda! πŸ™‚

  7. Jen2 says:

Hmmm, Darth or Yoda? They both have merit! I really think you should’ve gotten both! LOVE the sweater. I bought a silly one last week too and I can’t wait to wear it! I hope we get to go with you to cut trees! I’ve never done it and we NEVER have a real tree so I’m pretty excited! I heard Christmas music for hte first time this year in Kohl’s last week and I have to say it made me happy. I think I’m ready to kick it into gear! I may even decorate outside this coming weekend (It’s not even that early since Thanksgiving is next week)!

    • kilax says:

I might go back and get the other if they go on sale! πŸ™‚ I am excited to see your sweater! And yes! We can all go to get trees! πŸ™‚

I am excited to see your decorations. Your Halloween ones were so fab!

  8. Pam says:

    That sweater wins Christmas. LOL

  9. Erin says:

Pretty sure that 93.9 started playing Christmas music on November 1st. I wouldn’t say I’m a Grinch but I think most Christmas music is horrible so now I’m avoiding that station like the plague. Although, I am looking forward to wrapping presents and watching Love Actually πŸ™‚ Of course this means I have to actually buy presents…

    • kilax says:

Sigh. They didn’t. It wasn’t until 11/15. I checked every day until then.

I was wondering if you would watch Love Actually this year!

  10. Molly says:

That is one fantastic sweater. It might just require a trip to Target.

I guess that you picked the Darth lawn inflatable. But I would not cry if you picked Yoda. Pure. Awesome.

  11. Marcia says:

I hope you got Yoda! He’s adorable–I think the green gives him the edge over Darth. Thing 2 has her heart set on a light up Christmas lawn Pig at Target. I’m waiting for it either to go on sale or for her to forget about it, which most likely will not happen. Ha!

    • kilax says:

Yeah, Steven thought Yoda was more festive with his green and then the red coat! πŸ™‚

Ha ha ha. I almost hope you get that because it sounds hilarious!

  12. Michel says:

I love Christmas. In fact Christmas shows are year round here. I just want Thanksgiving to still have it’s day (as you can tell by my FB feed πŸ˜‰ ) I do LOVE the Star Wars stuff. I would do it to. But we forget they are blown up and ice gets caked on them.

    • kilax says:

I have been watching our neighbors to see how they use the blow up things and it seems like they let it down over night and when it’s stormy so I think I will try that πŸ™‚

LOL! I am not a huge Thanksgiving fan so that is probably part of the reason I don’t mind the rush!

  13. Kandi says:

I was out of town all last week so I’m trying to get caught up! Awesome job on your marathon by the way. I read it on my phone and have horrible time commenting.
We can’t get a real tree ever because I’m allergic. We had one when I was growing up until I graduated from high school and I didn’t realize it was the tree causing me to get so sick every year! Love the sweater!

  14. bobbi says:

    Sigh….NOT YET!!! I’m not ready πŸ™‚

Maybe it’s because Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday…

  15. I am SO SO excited. My husband and I are getting to go home to my parents for Christmas. It will be the first time we’ve both been home at my parents’ house for Christmas!! I know it’s going to be perfect. Last year we were down here then I flew up a few days after Christmas to celebrate with my family. I love the lawn decorations. I don’t even know if we’ll put up a tree this year since we won’t be here for Christmas…I’ll have to discuss with Tim.

Can’t wait to see those Star Wars inflatables.
