Closing the dance floor!

By , January 20, 2014 6:23 am

Steven and I went to a wedding this Saturday and stayed until the dance floor closed! I don’t think we have done that since our wedding! We were having such a fun time chatting with people and dancing, that the night just flew by. And the funny thing is, I didn’t know anyone there except for the bride and one bridesmaid… so I wasn’t sure who would we hang out with for most of the night. But we ended up sitting at a table with some wonderful people, and it felt like we were there with family. What a great time.

Do you stay until the dance floor closes at weddings? Are you out there dancing the night away?

Anyway… this is about to get cheesy. You’ve been warned.

The wedding was for a college friend of mine, and the whole night, I just couldn’t stop smiling, and thinking about how happy I am for her. I teared up during the ceremony. I got overly excited when it was my turn to greet and congratulate her. I… just spent the whole night with a stupid grin on my face, thinking happy thoughts.

And that wasn’t the point of the post. Oops. I am getting there. You could just tell how much planning and thought went in to the wedding. You could see the little details that made their special day, well, their special day. When I was there, feeling so honored to get to partake in it, I started thinking about our wedding and how one of my favorite parts after was hearing everyone’s different wedding and reception experiences. Because after all that planning, the night just flies by, and hearing everyone’s stories afterward makes the feelings of the night last even longer. Weddings can have a lot of guests – how much do the bride and groom actually see? It’s so fun later on, to hear about how old friends got to reconnect, or a funny story from the dance floor, or whatever it is. Hee hee, when I get a chance to catch up with the bride, it will be to tell her how crazy fun her cousins and their partners are. I wonder what other stories will be shared with the newlyweds!

It makes me feel good to think about all of these people coming together with love for the couple and for their family and friends there, to share a fun night together with all of these somewhat different experiences.

So, yeah – cheesy. I just felt a really good buzz after this wedding. It was a great feeling.

And thankfully, my snister did my hair and makeup so I didn’t look completely ridiculous! Ha ha ha.

You look beautiful! Duck face and all! We’re typically a one dance and leave to go get the kiddos type of couple these days. We totally busted a move at our own wedding though.

Note to Kim: Take normal picture of self when rocking a great dress, hair, jewelry, and nails BEFORE taking goofy pic for Gina! I would have liked to see a nice picture of you and your whole outfit, and maybe without the shower curtain. πŸ˜‰

I love weddings, too. I’m at an age now where they’ve kind of dried up, but I’m hoping some of my younger friends or my nieces will tie the knot some time soon.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha!!!! Note to Julie: I DID take those pictures, and posted them on Facebook before the wedding – did you not see it? Ha ha. That shower one was definitely the clearest. My phone doesn’t take such great pics, especially on timer.

Ooo, I hope for that too so you can get back out there! You know, we didn’t go to any last year… I thought things were slowing down, too!

I looooove dancing, so you know I’m on the dance floor at weddings! πŸ™‚ I also love photobooths. I wish photobooths had been a thing in 2007 when we got married, although maybe it’s for the best, I think they are a bit expensive.

Robert and I were just reminiscing on our wedding last night! I bought some flowers at Jewel on Saturday, and 2 of the 3 that I bought were in my wedding bouquet, so I had to look up pictures of it … and then we started reminiscing. (Of couse, he had no idea which flowers were in my bouquet.)

    • kilax says:

Isn’t it crazy how popular they are now? I had heard others talk about them and I know my snister is having one, but it was my first experience! Definitely a fun idea. And they were putting them all in a book where you could write a message for the bride and groom, which I thought was neat.

Aww, what kind of flowers? πŸ™‚

Our friends had a photobooth, and each strip of photos printed twice – one for the guest to keep, one for a master album of all the photostrips. They had an open bar, and a pretty goofy group of friends (myself included), and apparently by the end of the night there were some … interesting photos being taken. And forever remembered in their album …

My bouquet was green hydrangeas, green hypericum berries, purple tulips and dark red mini calla lillies. Here’s a good shot: https://magrobwedding.shutterfly.com/137

There is nothing like a really fun wedding! I’m a total sucker for weddings – that’s actually how/where I met my husband.
Like Julie – we’ve slowed down. All of our friends are having babies! Which is fun too, but quite different from the wedding circuit.

  17. MILF Runner says:

Totally thought of you today when I looked in the mirror and my hair was FLAT!!!!! I was so excited πŸ™‚

Yeah, I stay on the dance floor until it’s all over. Unless the DJ sucks, in which case I’m outta there!

    • kilax says:

Woo hoo! What do you think made it that way? The weather? Or did you have to make a pact with the devil? (lol, trying to be funny)

Yeah – good point! The DJ was playing a decent pop/rock mix, so we were jamming πŸ™‚

you guys were meant to be photographed! So cute! I love weddings to. They are just so happy!
