The cat who rides the train / BlackStrap Neck Gaiter Giveaway WINNERS

Have you ever brought an idea from a dream in to the awake portion of your life?

Ha ha. I have. And I probably shouldn’t much, lately, as my dreams have been completely WHACK. But I thought this one had some merit…

When I sleep on the train ride to work, I normally dream about riding the train. I have a recurring dream that Data rides the train with me downtown, to keep me company. Only, this morning was the first time ever during the dream that I wondered how Data gets back home. Because he doesn’t come with me to the office (that would be ridic!), he rides the train back home (isn’t he so nice to keep me company on the train just to go back home?!). But in my dream, I was all worried that Steven wouldn’t know when to pick him up at the train station, and that Data wouldn’t be able to get off the train, because he was in his carrier. He would be stuck on the train forever. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I woke up this morning, in a complete panic. Ha ha.

So what is the idea I am bringing in to the awake portion of my life? Duh! Bring Data on my train rides for company! Judging by how well it went when we took him to the train station once, I bet it will be great. Not.

I am completely kidding. But I was thinking, it would be cute to have a little children’s book, about a cat who rides the train. And maybe wears a tie. Or has a top hat. Someone should write it. Not me. But I can help with ideas.

Yes, this post is completely ridiculous. This is what you get, instead of all the half-written snarky posts I have in my draft box. Unless you want to see a bullet point list of those…

Wow! I was surprised how many people entered the BlackStrap Neck Gaiter Giveaway! I really appreciate my readers, and I give away products that I like (not some random thing I was offered to giveaway) funded with my own money, to share the product AND say thank you. So, thank you, readers!

I selected TWO winners since so many entered. Funny, both winners like Corona Blue. The winners are Meghan and HeatherMeghan and Heather, please email me (kilax@ilaxstudio.com) your mailing address and confirm the neck gaiter you want, and I will send it your way!

I always end up dreaming about being in an episode of whatever is on if I happen to fall asleep while watching a show or a movie, but I’ve never fallen asleep on a train before – I bet I would do the same thing! I hate waking up in a panic from a dream though – I’ve done that and it’s really not a good way to start the day. (On a related note to both of those things…don’t fall asleep while your husband is watching Dexter. It’s uh…not pretty.)

And whooo! Wow, what a great way to start my morning – suddenly I am SUPER excited! Thank you so much, I’ll email you now!

Oh gosh, that is why I CANNOT watch those shows (like Dexter) – I dream about them. Hmm, if I were you, I would watch something schweet like Star Wars and hope I fell asleep and woke up in a scene.

      Congrats on winning!

      • Heather says:

I do too…my husband had to stop watching Dexter in the same room as me. I felt bad, but I kept dreaming about being the murder victim and and and…I’m going to stop because I can already picture it! We haven’t done Star Wars at night, but I’ve definitely fallen asleep to things like Mythbusters, Star Trek, Psych, Dr. Who…haha!

        Thank you!

Derp, I forgot to enter your giveaway. 🙁

Aw, Data on the train would be cute! Bob always asks the dogs if they want to go to work with him – we think they’d love all the smells and free pets on the CTA.

This sucks, but sometimes I have dreams where I’m mad at someone or fighting with someone, and when I wake up I feel mad at that person!

    • kilax says:

That’s okay! You have one… right?! Or no?

Ha ha ha. Dress them up as service dogs and give them a go!

I hate it when that happens too. And it’s usually with Steven, or him with me.

      • Anne says:

Nope, just the baklava you got me 🙂 I haven’t been running outside as much as I’d like this winter, so it’s cool. And it’s going to be way too hot for a gaiter soon anyway.

Haha, service dogs don’t jump on people or try to get food out of their bags.

Yeah usually I’m fighting with my mom, so apparently my dreams all happen when I’m a teenager.

        • kilax says:

Dang! I couldn’t remember which I got you!

Ha ha ha. Yeah… I was going to type that… they are service dogs in training? JK.

Yeah, since you never fight with your mom now……………………… ?

      • Heather says:

My husband hates it when I wake up mad at dream-him…I kind of think it’s funny.

  3. Rachel says:

I love the idea for a kids book about a cat that rides the train! Awwww. If only I could write…or draw…or have any sort of creativity!

I wish we could take our pets to work. Wouldn’t that make stressful days so much better?

    • kilax says:

Oh gosh. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, instead of getting mad I would go pet Data. Wait. I can do that when I work from home. Hey! It does help!

We should take pics of the cats with a “green” screen and I will super-impose them in to scenes for the book. What do you think? Do Soxie and Leo want to be in the book? Or maybe Leona and Roxie?

  4. Xaarlin says:

I think a kids book about a cat that rides the train in a bow tie and top hat would be totes adorbs!

I don’t want any of my dreams to come into real life. Well- at least the ones I remember like velociraptors chasing me around my neighborhood, and other catastrophes. Yeah. No thanks 😉

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha. You dream about dinos?! Last week I dreamt I was killing zombies. And the night before the Texas “Half,” that a ghost tried to kill me while I was taking a bath. WTF, brain?!

  5. I would totally buy that children’s book. It’d be a good one for those kids to read to the cats at the cat shelter too :).

I rarely remember my dreams but when I do its usually about oversleeping. Booring.

    • kilax says:

Aww, yeah! They could! I do wonder what books those cats were having read to them 🙂

Ha ha ha! The chronic “I am going to be late for something!” dream?!

  6. Erin says:

I have had dreams where I got injured and then woke up and that body part hurt. So either I was flailing around in my sleep and hit something or the brain really is that powerful. Crazy, huh?

  7. Best. Post. EVA. I’ll make my friend write the book. He wrote a book for Miles about Miles the Monkey and the case of the missing Denali. Very cute.

I had a dream that there were riots in Fort Wayne, and I was fighting someone for a $6.99 sports bra. Got to run from that crazy in right gear!

  8. Chris says:

There is a cat back in my home town that rode my train sometimes. He was very popular and even made it in the newspaper. He didn’t wear a bow tie or top hat though.

  9. Gina says:

Don’t let the cat drive the train!! Hehe! You know we would totally read about cats and trains!!!

  10. Maggie says:

I can’t comment on your other post, but Olive HATES car rides. HATES them. And protests so loudly and agreesively in her carrier that I think it’s just as traumatizing for me as it is her.

Also this sounds like an adorable book.

    • kilax says:

Sorry! That is because I have commenting turned off after 30 days (too much spam 😉 ). Does Olive meow louder as the speed increases? Data sure does!

      Aww, thanks!

  11. Kristina says:

That’s so awesome that you dream about taking Data to work. When I remember dreams, it’s usually because they are tapping into some stress that I have going on. Fun times (not!).

  12. Meghan says:

Wait, wha???? I won? I never win giveaways! YAY! Thanks, Kim!

  13. kim says:

I love this post! Yes, Data!

  14. Losing Lindy says:

I love the idea….you should write the book! Congrats to your winners!

  15. The fact that your cat is named Data spawned some serious conversation last night between Mike & I. I had no idea that there was a star trek character named Data, who I imagine kitty is named after?! I felt silly for not having known that!

  16. […] to do this race; go to a fitness class with other bloggers, etc).  But last night I read about Kim’s funny cat dream and wanted to share it with him.  (I don’t usually remember dreams, but he does […]

  17. That is a great book idea!! Love it!!

Oh and i love how your giveaways are for stuff that you like and buy with your own money. I never thought about doing that but it is a great idea.

  18. Mica says:

I approve of this idea if Data is riding the train to come see meeeeee!
