Notes:

  • On Monday I couldn’t decide if I wanted to ride my bike or run after work. So… why not do both? Ha ha. I did a brick workout and really enjoyed the cycling then… completely tweaked my back getting off the trainer. Because I’m so graceful. Teaching class that night was interesting. I just had the class do lots of partner work. Hee hee! I was happy it was better Tuesday afternoon. I am not used to having back pain and I felt really uncomfortable.
  • The last two Saturdays, I’ve started out a longer run low on energy, and surprise, surprise, the first few miles felt really tough. Then I felt much better after eating something (especially with caffeine, it seems). Not sure why I did that two weeks in a row… but I am definitely one of those people who needs to eat closer to when they run. It’s funny, I attended a nutrition for athletes seminar last year and the lady was saying to get up two hours before you work out to eat and let your body digest your food, but that just doesn’t work for me. I do better if I eat something then go work out immediately. How soon before you do an endurance workout do you need to eat?
  • A few of my running buds met at my house Sunday and I planned out routes for them! It was fun to introduce people to the “hills” in my neighborhood. Ha ha. When we finished the run, I was so close to 40 miles for the week, I just had to finish it out. I don’t even have to check – I know that is my highest mileage week this year. And it got me to 100 miles for the month, too! I love to track this stuff, but I have to be careful not to compare it to the past when I was doing so much more. Every year (month, week, day) won’t be the same.
  • I might get out for my first outdoor ride of the year next week if the weather cooperates. Woo hoo! I hope it happens!

That is one fierce week, my friend! Congrats on your super high mileage! I bet you’re the best running route planner. I think I need you to come out and plan some workouts for me – I always run the same routes / speeds. It’s time to change it up!

    • kilax says:

Thanks! I really enjoy planning routes and trying to run in new areas. 🙂

It would be fun to plan some stuff out with you! I can’t recall – does the plan you are on now have any tempo or speed work? 🙂

what an awesome week! You are an awesome inspiration!

I love how you say you felt warm in sub freezing temps 🙂 I ran on Tuesday when it was 50, and I was cold 🙂

We are opposites with food before runs. I can totally rock an empty stomach for long runs to avoid getting up early- because if I eat anything within 2 hours of a run I’ll feel like puking (and feel super heavy). And if I were to eat something with caffeine on an empty stomach I would probably feel sick. So funny how different everyone can be.

I hope you get to ride outside!!

Ha ha ha! Well, was the sun out Tuesday? I can’t remember. Don’t worry! I am not an alien – I felt cold this morning! 😛

It is interesting how different we all are, yet there is advice that floats around to make people think they should all do things the same way. We all really have teo figure out what works for us! Ha ha. I think besides our food differences, you and I also have a window where we are comfortable running the same temp! Mine goes to 50ish, and yours maybe starts around 40?! LOL!

Look at you back to back long runner! Nice!

I had every intention of running yesterday…and then I didn’t. Man, lazy Sunday won!

I spy the troll hole in the picture!

    • kilax says:

Thanks!!! Hee hee. I made sure the rest of my Sunday was mostly lazy! I love lazy Sunday!

We should tell our sisters that trolls come from Janesville. Think they will believe us?!

  5. I tweaked my back, too, this week. I was doing bentover rows with a barbell and UPPED my weight like a fool – by, like, 50 percent. Four days later, I’m still hurting and sitting with a heating pad. Mark said he could feel the knot in my back. GAH!

Enough about me. Although, obviously, I read your blog to talk about me. Nice job on the double long runs. I’d love to get that worked out. And mad props for keeping up with intervals.

    • kilax says:

Gah! Ouch! You poor thing. Man. I hope that gets better asap so you feel better to teach. And feel better, in general. And you are always welcome to talk about you, in the comments! 🙂

Thanks! Do you mean you want to do double long runs? I was doing it more last year and miss it!

      • I want to do double long runs! I think it would be nice to build endurance and maybe get faster. Plus, I always run with people on the weekends now and two runs = more social time.

Thanks 🙂 Mark is sucking up and got me a gift card to Massage Envy. I am going to be cashing that in very soon. I am feeling better. Some of the “issues” have been resolved and I have my first appointment in 10 minutes.

It’s me!! I am so happy to be in your pics again 🙂

You know all about my eating issues. I am of the 2 hours prior variety…
