Highlight of the Week: Teaching the Tuesday night Efit class. We were all pushing hard, but being goofy at the same time, and it was a blast. And, not fitness related, but taking Bobbi hang gliding!

Notes:

  • Yay! A week at home! It was nice to get back to a “normal” routine, even if only for one week! Who else has a summer full of travel?!
  • There are different “challenges” we do at Efit, and the most recent one is this 30-day summer fitness challenge. Give it a try! You just do it once a day… or more, if you are feeling bad ass!

  • So happy I got to run with Kelly and Bobbi this week. It’s nice to have one-on-one time to chat with my girls. I love communicating via technology, but face time is always the best!
  • I put together my marathon training “plan.” Ha. It consists of a rough guideline of what my long runs should be each week. Really, the key for me is losing some weight, not running specific paces/distances. When I lose weight, running is a lot easier/and I’m faster. We’ll see what happens!
  • Bobbi LOVED hang gliding! Yay! I am so happy she got to go – the sport is very weather dependent and we’ve had some storms lately. But it was all clear for her flight!

Great week! That hang gliding photo is awesome. Did y get to go as well?

  2. Amy says:

I have no idea how people can run 5 and 10Ks in this weather. So congrats on that! I love reading your fun and diverse workouts. Makes my running and hiking seem boring.

    • kilax says:

Gah, I know. It’s so nutso humid out, and that makes the heat feel so much worse! I usually don’t do many races in the summer, but I needed motivation to get out there today!

Whatever! You get to hike in so many beautiful places!

  3. Pam says:

OMG I’ve always wanted to go hang gliding! So jealous! I can’t imagine racing a 10K in June. I wouldn’t be brave enough to register for one, much less run it.

    • kilax says:

Go do it! It’s fun! At the place we went to, you get pulled by a ultra light aircraft in your glider, then released. I wonder what it would be like to jump off of something and go!

Ha ha. I was so focused on the hills that I barely noticed the heat. And I registered morning of 😉 Racing in the summer isn’t really my thing! I just did the 10K to get a run in 🙂

  4. kim says:

What marathons are you training for?

    • kilax says:

I am registered for Milwaukee (but might not be able to run it due to a schedule conflict). I might do a 50K in September too, but I probably won’t train much for that.

  5. Hanggliding?!?! Wow! Is that one of your many sports?? I went skydiving once. I don’t know if I have the guts for that one!

    Which marathon are you doing?

    • kilax says:

I tried it once last year. I actually liked sky diving better 🙂 But I will probably try it again someday!

I am registered for Milwaukee. I am not sure if I can run it, due to a scheduling conflict, but I plan on “training” for it 🙂

  6. Michelle says:

OOOOOOOOOOOOO I just love that she got to do this!!!! Are you doing Naperville this year?

  7. Tiina says:

Eee! Hang gliding seems so scary to me. And I hear you on the weight. I was a lot faster when I was 30 pounds lighter!
