Notes:

  • WHOA, what a week! It must have been our most humid one of the summer so far! I ended most of my runs completely soaked in sweat. Even my shoes were soaked after my long run on Sunday! That rarely happens to me. It’s really fun to run with your socks slipping around in your shoes. Ha ha. Not.
  • I was happy to fit in some lunch workouts, but man, midday is NOT my best running time! My body likes running early, in the dark. Oh well, miles are miles right now. Even if they are junk miles, I am happy to be running a bit more. And this weather is just reminding me how much faster I feel in the fall/winter!
  • Rachel and I did a 10K in her town before our trip to Iowa on Saturday! I think that was the most challenging 10K I’ve ever done! I told Rachel I need to come back and run the course with her when it’s not so humid (and could they remove the hills? Ha ha, just kidding). Report on that tomorrow!

This week really has been the worst for humidity…I’ve been logging the humidity just to compare to how I feel and even though I got “used” to 80% humidity, this 95% has just been absolutely awful. I’ve been dripping coming in from runs too and they all felt so hard.

And hey! I don’t believe in junk miles =) You ran and running is good! (Even if yesterday I wanted to never run again. Hah!)

Isn’t it interesting to log that? I log the weather for each run with a start and stop screenshot of the weather on my phone. Once it’s in the 90s and pretty warm outside… it gets difficult to run in 🙂

LOL! I have a joke with a friend that I am running JMF – Junk Miles Forever! I use that phrase jokingly… I am always happy to get runs in and am not typically one to do pace/speed/temp/etc.

When Eric finished the half marathon yesterday I asked if he dumped water on himself. He said no, he was just that sweaty. I told him he had to sit on the dog mat in the backseat on the way home (I drove to the race). So, yeah, HUMID! It sucks!

  3. I soaked my car seats yesterday and had to sit on a beach towel to drive to work today, lol. Poor new car, it doesn’t smell new anymore 🙁

I agree with the midday thing! I love it in winter when mid-day is usually the best time to run, but now it is rough. A couple weeks ago, I even decided to hit the track during lunch. Ugh. But I got it done and that was what counts, right?

Nice week! Also, was in chicago over the weekend for the tri and it was freaking hot as hades and humid as can be!

  6. Rachel says:

Great miles this week! The highlight of my week was sharing so many miles with you and your dad! YAY!

I love that you felt so good during the long run Sunday!

      Awww! <3

Yes! As long as I remember those damn pills. Geesh. Why is that so hard to get in to the routine of?! I forget to ask if you wanted any... let me know if you want me to send you some. That won't look suspicious in an envelope or anything! 🙂
