A short run in Indianapolis

Wow! Downtown Indianapolis has a lot of neat public spaces!

I’ve had a few people recommend Indianapolis races to me and honestly… never understood why. Now, I can see the allure to run here! I wonder if the rest of the city is as beautiful.

I am in Indianapolis for a super short work trip. I got in late last night, but with the city being on the western end of the time zone, I still had plenty of light for a run! I mostly ran on the White River Trail.

I do think I’ll have to come back for a race. This is only my second run (ever!) in the state of Indiana, and my first one didn’t go so well… ha ha.

I love seeing new areas through running and am grateful I had this opportunity to see just a (very small, ha ha) bit of Indianapolis!

It does look like a pretty place to run, I would never have guessed. I love cool old buildings. We don’t have very many of those in Montana.

  2. I love running in new places. Indy looks really pretty!

It’s been forever since I’ve been to Indianapolis and I had no idea they’d made it so beautiful downtown!

  4. I once spent about 9 months traveling to Indianapolis every week for work – and I was surprised at how nice the city is! Very walkable and clean. The people are incredibly friendly, too. I’ve had the Indianapolis Monument Half Marathon on my watch list for a long time. I have also heard great things about the Mini-500 and all other races in Indy.

Yeah, I felt that way too, just from my little trip! Man. Every week. When you lived in Chicago? Was driving on I-65 as horrible then (with all the semi traffic)?

Yeah! I am looking at Monumental now!

Great pics. Hoping the weather will be nice and cool there on Saturday for the Mini!

I’ve only been there once, and it was for an AF friend’s softball tourney YEARS ago so I don’t remember it well. Looks beautiful!

Thanks for the flattering post about Indy! I’ve been following your blog for awhile. I live and run in Indy, so I can definitely say that our races here are top notch. Give us a chance sometime!

Aww, thanks for following and commenting! 🙂 I have a tab open with the Monumental Marathon calling my name… lol!

So pretty! I ran there once when I was in Indy for a conference. Very pretty city!

  9. Amy says:

Wow! Looks like you saw a lot and who knew Indy was so pretty?

Wow, I had no idea Indianapolis was so beautiful! When I ran the half there, it was November, and we were mostly around City Hall (I think…), so I didn’t get to see any of those fabulous, lush parks! That being said, the fall foliage was pretty!

Do you find that you notice how pretty cities are when you run races in them? I’m usually staring at the ground and miss almost everything!

In a crowded race, I definitely notice less of the surroundings! When it’s not so crowded, my eyes wander, though! 🙂
