Less reality, more beach

PLEASE

What a nice, momentary escape*.

And pretty cool that it’s fifteen minutes from my house. This was the first time I went to a Lake Michigan beach** – and I’ve lived here nine years!

*Minus the children throwing rocks at birds, which really bothers me.
**To do beach things – I’ve been by Lake Michigan plenty of times.

It’s weird for this west coaster (always, no matter how long I live in Texas) to hear anything other than the ocean referred to as the beach, but that sure looks beachy! How nice to have something so lovely so close to your house.

Looks like a gorgeous place to spend the day!

    I want to go! ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t believe you’ve never done beachy things here before! I think it took me about a week to get to the beach after I moved to Chicago.

      Let’s go!

Was your place very close to the beach when you first moved to Chicago? It was never worth the drive from our house in RL – I went to the pool or Independence Grove, instead!

Yes it was! My roommates and I were about 2 blocks away from the LFT (and I didn’t even run – what a waste!), and then another half mile down from Montrose Beach. Ahhh, what a good location. We probably ran by that place when we did a LR together a couple years back – it was on my normal route to the lake.

So we have SF, beach, and watermelon mojitos before summer ends… busy busy! ๐Ÿ™‚

WtF, kids throwing rocks at birds?!? Did you say something to them? If you felt compelled, I think you were definitely within your right to say something. I almost yelled at two kids in Tahoe whose parents were letting them carve their names into trees.

Were the rocks smooth and rounded at this beach too?

    • kilax says:

I didn’t, but wanted to! When I asked Kelly if I should and she didn’t say anything I didn’t want to make a scene. But, wtf, people.

They weren’t as round and smooth as the other one!!!!

Beautiful beach photo! It’s inspired me to try to get to a bay beach this year since I do miss the ocean. Not quite the same but close enough for a fix ๐Ÿ™‚ And boo to the kids throwing rocks at birds.

Ahh, the lakefront. Love that pic!

I’ve rarely been to the Great Lakes region, but I’m always amazed that the vast expanse of water is *just* a lake. What a beautiful place! I hope that you return many, many times.

My friend that I was with was saying how it *almost* looks like the ocean! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope to be back soon! It was so relaxing!
