Almost gone

Our pond is still disappearing! Everything that is muddy in this photo used to be covered in water (so, really, the entire photo)!

Soon, it will be gone, and the ducks won’t visit anymore. Sadness.

See the ducks in the photo?! When you compare this photo to the ones in this post, you can see how much the pond has gone down.

And, I won’t get to play with my remote controlled boat on it! Sigh, I had big plans for that. Ha.

For my birthday (July 31) I asked for a remote controlled boat for the pond. Steven gave it to me when we were at the Mississippi River and it was so much fun to play with up there.

Teaching Luca how to drive the boat.

I hope we get some rain so I can play with it here. And so we don’t have a giant mud pit in our yard.

  1. That is crazy how much the pond has disappeared! Especially since we haven’t been under massive drought conditions over the past few weeks, either. (When I ran the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2014, you could DEFINITELY tell they’ve had a severe drought – the Santa Ana River was so dry I thought it was a construction site for a new expressway!)

The lack of rain this summer has been so weird! I really don’t remember a summer quite like this. I hope it rains soon so that you still get to see your duck buddies – they’re so cute! And they’ll miss your treats!

Me either! We usually have a few big storms and a few series of days of rain!

Me too! I hope my treats would be enough to bring them back!

  3. Alice says:

oh no! do you think it will come back? is it just lack of rain?

  4. Shelley B says:

Aww, you’ll need to get a kiddie swimming pool for your ducks soon!

  5. Amy says:

I was going to ask about the mosquitos – at least that’s improved. But still, bummer about your pond!

  6. Mica says:

I hope the pond comes back! Has your summer been drier than previous ones to cause the pond to dry up so dramatically?

  7. This is probably a stupid question but why is it disappearing? I just woke up and am not drinking coffee. Plus, I have a headache to just bear with me. 🙂

Sad to see the pond going away. Happy to hear you have an RC boat. That’s awesome. Hope you can find more bodies of water to use it in.
