  • Khaleesi and Snow are really starting to trust us! We still haven’t gotten them to the vet though. We tried awhile ago (to get them in their carriers) and that was a no go.

  • We used moving as a reason to stop going to our old dentist and find a new one. We loved the hygienist at the old dentist office, but the actual dentist was an a-hole and the office completely messed up our billing every time (and tried to charge us WAY more than they said something would cost, and then there was that time they numbed my mouth for work then came in to tell me there wasn’t a dentist in my network in that day… and did I want to go home with a numbed mouth or pay out of network for the work?). Anyway. I finally made an appointment to try out a new place today! I hope they’re nice and can figure out the billing.
  • For some reason, I have quite a bit of work travel coming up in late November and early December. Pair that with my/our travel and guests visiting… I don’t see much free time until January! Blah!

If you’re still on the hunt for a new dentist after trying out this office, I highly recommend Dr. Eli Lawrence if you’re open to seeing someone downtown. I’ve been going to him for a really long time and I’m a total dental-phobe. Everyone on his staff is super nice and they are really good about making lunch time appointments!

You gained trust pretty fast! Your new furry babies love you 🙂
Tuna in the carrier may work…

    Your blanket loooks awesome!

    • kilax says:

We tried that! They are smart enough not to go all the way in. I think it’s somewhat about timing – we have to try it when they are cuddly (in the am).

      Thanks! 🙂

The blanket looks like it was made for that nursery. Oh wait…it was! So adorable.

If it’s any consolation, my cats are 11 years old and it’s still a huge battle to get them into their carriers for the vet – some cats just nope out big time on being confined. But it’s sweet how they will let you hold them already!

Your old dentist, ugh. I’ve heard of (and unfortunately known quite a few) so many scammer dentist/dental practices. Hope you like your new guy.

    • kilax says:

      Hee hee, it sure was!!!!

It does make me feel better when I hear that, and remember how Data doesn’t exactly care for it! I just feel like I am not doing the best I can for them since I haven’t taken them yet… but hello, I am feeding them and giving them warm shelter and that is better than nothing!

Isn’t it horrible that my story is NOT unique! I really liked the new place so far. They had totally done their work with our insurance which I appreciated!

I miss work travel. Between my last job (almost 12 years) and my current job (almost 2 years), I’ve only traveled once for work (that was in Sept 2014). I know it sucks to have to go during the holidays, but just know you have a blogging friend that is jealous.

    That blanket turned out great.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha, you being jealous of my trips to Cincinnati and Indianapolis totally makes me feel better. And actually, I don’t mind work travel too much, it’s just that both these trips mess up my other job, but that is gonna happen sometimes! Where did you get to travel for work?

      Thank you!

      • martymankins says:

That Sept 2014 work trip was to Ft Myers, FL. It was nice as I saw a part of Florida I had never been to. My only time at the beach was for an hour the day of my flight home. I don’t recall blogging about it. I should have and many will go back and add it to the list of trips I took but never blogged about them (there is at least 6 on the list now)

        • kilax says:

You should! That would be a nice place to go for a work trip! Since my office is regional to the state I live in and five others, I don’t get out of that range much, except to DC every now and then.

Oh dear that dentist story sounds bad! I hope you find someone you like. I’ve been going to my dentist for the past 28 years and I love her – I sometimes wonder what’s going to happen when she retires. Her daughter is training to be a dentist so perhaps she’ll take over.

    • kilax says:

I bet her daughter will TOTALLY take over! It went decently yesterday! There was only one weird comment from the dentist (about having kids) but we both really liked the hygienists and the service!

  6. Alyssa says:

That blanket looks great in the nursery! I just bought yarn to start a blanket for my friend who is due in February. Hopefully I can finish in time!
Ugh that dentist. I also am looking for a new dentist. My insurance switched and also the dentist office was sold to a different company and one of the two caused the dentist to now be out-of-network and I now have to pay some out of pocket. It can be so difficult to find a new dentist and/or new doctors!

    • kilax says:

You totally can if you work on it bit by bit! What pattern are you using?

Oh wow! I hope you can find someone you like in network! It’s nice we can search for that on insurance sites now! How did people do it before?!

      • Alyssa says:

I am using this pattern http://thestitchinmommy.com/2013/12/shell-stitch-baby-blanket-free-pattern.html and the colors are tan, navy, and yellow to match the nursery colors.

I guess you had to actually call different dentists to find one. Or just live in a small town where there is only one dentist ha!

Did you used to have to call people

        • kilax says:

That is really pretty! Is that a easy, medium or difficult level for crocheting? I have no idea!

Blah, that would be horrible. Calling. Gross. 😛

          • Alyssa says:

Probably a easy to medium on the difficulty level. I’m not sure how it is in knitting, but I most of the time for crocheting once you have the stitch down for the pattern, the pattern becomes easier. Especially for things like blankets and scarves where there is no increasing or decreasing.

            • kilax says:

Cool! Yeah, that’s how it is for knitting, too. The baby blanket was super easy once I figured out the pattern! I want to make this scarf with a ton of cabling and I am wondering if I will get the hang of that or not since the pattern changes each row!

I’ve moved a lot in the past few years, so I’ve changed dentists/gynos/eye docs/etc a lot in the past few years. Yelp is a good resource (with a grain of salt).

I had an a-hole dentist, mostly bc he tried to convince me (out of what seemed like nowhere) that I should get Invisiline. Like, oh, yes, let me drop thousands of dollars on something no other dentist ever even hinted at.

    • kilax says:

I checked yelp after I found a local dentist on my insurance plan!

Yeah… like they don’t already make enough money, they need to try to sell us on other stuff. That reminds me how Steven’s dentist was part of some energy pyramid scheme or something and was trying to sell THAT to his patients. Sigh.
