Bad cat mom ii

Another bad cat mom moment!

I was excited when I saw tulips at Aldi* for a reasonable price this weekend.

And I was super impressed with myself for tying a bow on the vase and making it look festive.

A few days later I was thinking “Wow, the cats haven’t even destroyed them yet!” (As you know, Data likes to rearrange flowers.)

Then I googled “tulips and cats” and realized they were poisonous for cats. Oops.

Now the tulips are making the cat-free garage festive! Ha.

(What are they sitting on in garage? Steven built a storage unit to hold all of our building supplies on! Now I can park my car in the garage! Yay! Love my handy husband!)

*OMG though this tag. IT IS NOT “ALDI’S”!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh.

  1. Man, the seasonal decorative flower industry really has it in for cats, doesn’t it! Easter lilies, tulips, poinsettias (though apparently those are only mildly toxic to cats): you just can’t win for any holidays that come with flowers if you have cats! Haha.

At least you looked it up though! More often than not I’ll give Heidi a bite of something, then Terry will look it up – after the fact – to make sure it’s not poisonous for dogs. I don’t even think to do that most of the time #dogmomfail #dogmomproblems

I didn’t know tulips were bad for cats either! I can attest that mini carnations do not kill cats…

We Chicagoans love to add an “s” to our grocery store names. “I’m going down to the Jewels”. Hence “Aldi’s”?

Well, for the record, “Aldis” is not correct either as the name of the store is Aldi. So I opt to think that the tag is, indeed, correct and they ran out of printable space trying to say “Grown for Aldi’s Floral Department” or the like.

Yes. Aldis is also not correct. LOL, nice thought that they just ran out of space. I assume the person who creates the tag is just another person who pluralizes Aldi for whatever reason causes people to do this.

Are tulips poisonous if the cats eat them, or is it bad if they’re even just around? I had no idea. Good thing you thought to check before Data tried to rearrange them.

That’s awesome that Steven made shelving for the garage, though I know that’s a pretty simple project for him!

I think only if they eat them! They went in the trash last night 🙂

It took him awhile to plan it! He had to weld a metal brace for each shelf to make it sturdy. He did a great job with it. It’s nice to have those materials off the floor!

I had NO idea that tulips are poisonous for cats!

I love tulips and I never once thought to check if they were poisonous to cats. Pretty sure some of my other houseplants are probably poisonous to her. She doesn’t eat them though.
