Things I’m excited about in June!

By , June 2, 2017 8:27 am
  • Lap swims outside – I did my first one this morning with Anne! It was refreshing to swim outside!

  • Meeting Rachel for a run
  • Finishing some spring cleaning I started last weekend – it will feel good to have it done!
  • [Broken Record] Outdoor rides! Weather permitting, I have three planned for the month.
  • Lots of Fitness Boxing classes
  • My parent’s visit next weekend!
  • An Olympic Triathlon relay with friends! (And the massage I will get before it!)
  • Eating outside… until it gets too muggy and gross
  • Maybe meeting my fave coworker’s baby?!?! (he was born last week!)
  • Fresh peaches
  • Staying home for the month – this will be the first month of the year without any overnight travel (personal travel… there may be work travel).

What’s on your list?

The Olympic Tri relay sounds fun! So does each team member do just one type of activity then? Sadly we’ve got a lot of bugs out and about right now so eating outdoors has been a bit of a loss.

    • kilax says:

Yeah! We have a team of three with one person doing each event, but you can also do a team of two!

Oh man. Is eating outside bad even in the city, or mostly in the parks? Certain areas of our parks at bad :-/

Very cool that you can swim outside already. I think the park district outdoor pool in our neighborhood opens next weekend.

    • kilax says:

Are you looking forward to going?!

How did your swim with the foamy thing go? You can tell we’re real swimmers cause we us such technical terms.

      • Pete B says:

I’m looking forward to going, but not to the “bathing suit check” they do at the gate. I guess they have to do this because it’s free to get in and random kids walking by will decide spur-of-the-moment to swim and they take off their clothes and jump in in their underwear. I’ve seen both guys and girls do this! Anyway, I tried the “foamy thingy” yesterday and it was cool, it was easy to swim with because I didn’t have to kick and it kept my legs were elevated. I guess that’s the point? My legs are skinny, so they sink pretty fast if I don’t kick pretty hard which is tiring! So any help is appreciated. Since I have a race tomorrow, I did a lot of slow swimming with a kickboard today. Helped stretch my legs out a little.

        • kilax says:

LOL, so they check to make sure you have a suit on??!

Yeah, that is the point – to work on having your legs in the right spot, and to strengthen your stroke!

Hope you had a good race!!!!

  3. Anne says:

I loved being able to swim together again! I killed my legs doing speed intervals the other day, so I was especially looking forward to working them out in the water.

Have a fun run with Rachel tomorrow!

    • kilax says:

Me too! I love it for recovery.

Thanks! We had a good run! This time the rain in Burlington started after the run 😉

  4. Amy says:

Even without travelling, it sounds like you have a busy month planned! Busy here, too. All three boys are in exam mode til the end of the month and the youngest graduates high school. I’ll be going to TX to see my dad, which will finally give me a chance to use the Starbucks card I won on your blog!

    • kilax says:

It feels not as busy since we get to be home!

Oh wow! Soon all three will be out of school! Eek! Did your son pass his driving test?

Oh yay! You are going this month?

  5. Mica says:

Oh, you’re probably doing the tri right now (Or maybe tomorrow). Anyway, good luck, that sounds so fun!

(At first, I read one of your bullet points as “meeting my co-worker’s fave baby,” and I thought, “Hm…that kind of sounds like over-sharing on the part of her co-worker.”)

That’s so nice that you have access to an outdoor pool. Swimming laps outside is so much better. And biking outside is way more fun too. I am also excited to do all the outside things. And eat ice cream.

    • kilax says:

I am grateful to have access to it! And am happy it works out with my schedule.

I am assuming you mean eat ice cream outside…? I have been eating it all year!

      • Kiersten says:

Yes, I meant eating ice cream out. I eat ice cream year round, but all of my favorite places to go out are only open in the summer.

        • kilax says:

Oh! Yes! LOL! Why did I not think of that?! I have been waiting for the place that has vegan ice cream by us to open up for the summer!
