It’s coming

By , August 25, 2017 11:31 am

Running’s been feeling stale lately, and I thought I needed a change of scenery. Or something different to listen to (or nothing to listen to at all). Or more focused workouts (less junk miles). Or, gasp! –  someone to run with.

Then it was in the 50s with a low dew point this morning and my run felt wonderful.

And I remembered, duh, it’s the end of August. I feel this way every year, at this time.

Then we have some rare cool August days and I get excited for fall, and it doesn’t arrive until mid October. Ha.

But the reminder it’s coming is nice.

I was telling my running buddy that last year at this time, I was in California and got in some great-feeling runs in wonderful cool coastal weather…not so this year, and I’m just feeling bogged down by months of running in this heat. But you are right, it IS coming – one of these days!

Ah, yes! I remember how refreshed you felt coming back from that trip. If only there could be something like that EVERY August! 🙂

I thought of you and my bestie in TX when I was writing this. Because I know you guys have it WAY worse!!!

    Fall is good.

    I’d run with you 😢😭😿

We’ve been having cooler weather here FINALLY, so I’m definitely excited for fall! The weather has been awful pretty much since we moved. I’m just happy that it’s under 75° when I wake up now!

The last few years I’ve spent the summers in Colorado and gotten used to running in 55º-65º. Then, I return to Austin (in early August in previous years, unfortunately, but not this year!) and as much as I hope that the lower altitude helps, the higher temp and humidity overwhelm it. Ugh.

Oh gosh, it would be so hard to return from that to Austin! And a bummer not to feel the full effects of the lower altitude!

Running wont feel stale on 9/17! Just sayin 🙃

Ha! That is so true…last year my first happy run was Oct. 3rd. I was so burnt out in late August/September I thought Oct. would never happen.

And then October comes and sometimes it’s STILL horrible! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully that doesn’t happen this year!

I have been feeling so much better on my runs lately! Yay fall.

Hehe, winter is coming! (But first, fall running!) Do you go through that irritating period where they turn the public fountains off but you still have hot running days? That always annoyed me (even if I understood that the parks system was just being cautious).

Hmmm. Good question. I usually carry water until I don’t “need” it anymore (I still need it ha ha, just don’t feel as thirsty) so it isn’t an issue if they turn them off early! One of the ones I use here is a pump from a well and they kept it open all through last winter (maybe since it was so mild), which was exciting, because it meant I could use my handheld instead of the backpack (that holds more water).

  9. All I want is for this weather to stick around for the duration of the summer. Last week felt like a DREAM! Temperatures below 80 and low dew points forever, please!
