Downsized
Everyone’s bodies are affected differently by weight loss/gain, but I always lose/gain weight in the same area first.
Can you guess what it is?
I’ll give you a hint: I’ve already dropped two sizes there.
From a D to a B.
Yeah.
I didn’t believe the Victoria’s Secret salesperson helping me in the dressing room. She took my measurements, and gleefully said, “Yep, you’re a B!”
I later asked Steven if he heard me scream, “A B?!” from the dressing room. I guess the music was too loud for him to hear me though (that, and he was too busy feeling disturbed by all the teeny-boppers there buying lacy bras and thongs).
I didn’t believe the salesperson. And I was so frustrated at that point (by the ridiculous amount of people there and the nauseating fragrance area), I just grabbed a B-size bra, bought it, and left. I was sure when I got home, it wouldn’t fit, and I would have to take and back and say, “See! I am at least a C!”
Nope. It fit perfectly.
Which means I need to make an investment in some new bras. And hope that I don’t lose any more weight in that area.
Tell me – when you lose (or gain) weight, where do you first see results?
I am seriously fortunate in that I lose weight in my waist first. Then it’s my face and neck. You’d think I’d be all satisfied and never bitch but sister, I would LOVE to lose some of my boobage. Want some? 😉
This is too funny — THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! When I lose weight … it’s in the boobs. WHY?! That’s the one place I want the weight to stick! 🙂 I gain it always in my thighs, butt and the backs of my legs. Ugh!
Never where you want to lose, is it?
Be wary of Victoria’s Secret sizing, though. Katie went in there several different times within a very small period of time and was different sizes each time. They’re people are not particularly well trained. You will lose weight in the boobs, but don’t necessarily trust that it’s that much. My wife has a woman that specializes in bras only down in Lisle. She has always hated her Victoria’s Secret bras, but loves the ones from this place. Even if they were quite a bit more expensive.
I usually go down a size in the bra but mostly in the number not the letter. Even at my smallest I was still a big C. I usually first see it drop in my rib area.
For teenagers, shopping at Victoria Secret is all the rage now. It is very disturbing. Thongs on 12 year old? Hm…. weird.
When I lose, it’s in my face first, then just downward. When my boobs are ginormous, the husband calls them booby mountain ~ when I lose a few cup sizes I ask him if he’s sad, he says “More than a handful is a waste” – he always says the right thing- that’s when ya know you’ve got a keeper 🙂 When they love ya no matter what size you are!
Congrats on your weight loss and keep having fun shopping for your new size, how exciting!
Upper body always goes first. But hey, don’t fret the B’s, it means running is going to get easier. 😉
My stomach and calves but both manage to accentuate the biggest part of my body to begin with: my thighs LOL (and my ankles)!!!
Is it bad to say I’ve never lost a ton of weight (or enough to notice changes more so in one area over another). However, my recent weight gain? Has been in my boobs, my stomach and my ass. And my hope is when I begin losing weight, all those areas will see a reduction. As an active girl, I’m really hating my boobs right now.
You just had to bring this up, didn’t you?!?!
I’ve been trying desperately not to be depressed about losing my boobs. It may not be the *first* place I lose, but they go down fast. I can tell a difference already. **cry**
Well, they ARE fat deposits, after all.
When I lose weight, it is always in the same place you lost it from.
At least you can buy things at Victoria’s Secret. I went there once and they told me they don’t sell anything small enough for me. My 10 year old daughter wears a bigger bra size than me so I guess it is to be expected but it still doesn’t make me happy!
I gain weight in my waist first, and lose it in my thighs the quickest. It really sucks, it’s so hard for me to trim the waist. As I’ve gained lost and regained weight my cup size has never changed, only the size around my ribcage.
When I first started losing weight, I noticed it in my face and shoulder area first. The biggest sign was when I had collar bones again!
My boobs don’t budge. The bras are a little loser, but not enough to change my sizing. Perhaps all the chest presses I do are strengthening the muscles that lift and push my boobs out! :p
Hilly – Please do send some 😛 I think my face is one of the last places I lose weight. I look at pictures and think I look fat – then just realize it’s my chunky face!
marissa – That is also the one place I wouldn’t mind if it stayed 🙁
kapgar – I didn’t trust them either, but it fit so well! I can understand her not liking their bras though. I have bought several in the past that weren’t as nice as I thought. They still have a few good things I like though.
sizzle – This is where I am surprised, I stayed a 38. I wonder what that means. I was hoping for a 36! 😉 That would at least help me deal with the pain of the cup size 😛
javaqueen14 – We saw more girls there at that age with VS bags last night (And seriously, we don’t usually spend that much at the mall, just errands this week!) and were disgusted. I think Steven got a cue from your husband, because he said the right thing too 😉 And thanks for the compliment!
Kyra – Good point! 🙂
Felicia – Your own body is working against you! Just kidding 😛
Nilsa – It’s not bad to say that at all! It means you’ve always been in a healthy weight range. I wish I could say the same! You will probably have the reduction in the same area. That makes sense to me!
SJ – We should start our own support club.
tori – Nothing small enough! Hmm, that makes me wonder if their A is not really an A!
Jenn – I’ve met people who gain a lot in the waist too. That is what made me think of me ask this question. It must be hard to always gain there 🙁
diane – Collar bones! 🙂 I know exactly what you mean. Hmm, do I need to get back to the gym and do some strength training?
oh HELL yeah. it’s so shitty. i gain weight instantly in my face, first… which is great, because i won’t even NOTICE that i’ve gained weight, except suddenly i’ve got all this extra FLESH on my face in photos. gah. immediately following that is my belly, followed by my boobs and ass. and yet if i lose weight? IMMEDIATELY out of the boobage. not fair, i tell ya.
i haven’t lost weight in a long time, I don’t remember where I’d lose it from first 🙁 maybe I can tell you in a couple of months? riiiiiight 🙁
I first see the results in my tummy and my chin, which are the two places that I want to lose weight from anyway.
Alice – It would be hard to notice if you gained in your face first – because you look at yourself so much in mirrors everyday! I am the same way with pics – I think I am doing fine, then I see it, and think, “WOW! Extra skin everywhere!”
*lynne* – You WILL tell me in a couple of months – if not sooner!
martymankins – Sweet deal for you then! 😛
I know I’m late commenting, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in. First, let me say that I *LOVE* Victorias Secret bras. With that said, their sizing is not uniform. Depending on the style bra you choose you can wear different cup sizes and different measurements. I wouldn’t be too worried about being put into a B. If the *girls* look good, and feel good, that’s all that really matters. 🙂
Lisa – Ha ha. I didn’t mention that they told me I’m a 38B in regular bras, but made me buy a 36D for the push-up one I wanted! And chances are, I would be different sizes at other stores 🙂 Thanks for being level-headed and reminding me.
