Hi! I’m Kim!
I am thirty-two years old, live in very northern Lake County, Illinois (in a suburb of Chicago) and work for the federal government in Chicago. I graduated from Iowa State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (I am not a licensed architect and probably never will be), and my full time job is in the architectural design industry.
However, my day job does not define me! I became an ACE certified personal trainer in July 2013 and I teach whole body strength classes and do one-on-one training at Essential Fitness in Grayslake, Illinois. Fitness is my passion. I love to exercise, especially running and riding my road bike! I love sharing my passion for fitness with others.
And, there’s more! My husband, Steven, and I run FakeMeats.com – an online shop of vegetarian and vegan meats and treats!!!
Enough about work!
I am originally from Iowa, and ended up in Chicagoland when I graduated and moved to start work and marry Steven in September 2007 (check out wedding photos here and here). I live with him (obviously) and our cat, Data!

Although I am a designer, this site covers way more than just that which concerns design. I write about a variety of topics – some silly, some serious, and some work related, but all real. Honesty is very important to me, so you will see a lot of open and oversharing (ha ha) posts here.
I started this site in July 2005 as a means of keeping in touch with my family and friends. Happily, it has turned into much more than that, as it has introduced me to new friends from all over the world.
In October 2007, I made the switch from hand-coding my site to using wordpress. My old site archives can still be viewed under the Archive 07/2005-10/2007 link.
