Skinny jeans

Ugh, I can’t stand to have a whiny, revealing post like that last one up on it’s own. So here’s some fluff.

For how long have skinny jeans been trendy? Really…? I just now bought my first pair, last night, so that I would not have to fold my jeans to get my boots on.

When we left the store, I said to Steven “Skinny jeans make me feel fat!” He humorously responded, “Isn’t that why they are called skinny jeans?” and made me laugh.

Actually, what I meant was, when I picked up the jeans to try on, I grabbed a size 10 and 12, because I have been fitting in to size 10 lately. I even said “I am not going to buy these unless the size 10 fits!” So when I had to buy the size 12, I was annoyed.

But oh my freakin’ gosh, who cares and what does it matter? They are jeans that fit my body! Stupid clothing size number. I am going to leave this sticker on all day and wear it proud.

Okay, not really. I am not sure if Steven would take me out in public with a sticker under my butt! Ha ha.

Do you own skinny jeans? Do they serve any other purpose besides making it easier to wear boots over your jeans?

I do not have a pair, I just bought a pair of jeans that fit two weeks ago. I had gone almost a year without a pair of jeans.

  2. Courtney says:

I do now own a pair of skinny jeans… well, not in the technical term. I have a pair of jeans that are “my skinny jeans” that I am still working on fitting into, well, they fit, the muffin top is just gross… I think your new skinny jeans look great though!! I know what you mean about the “number” on your jeans size though.
    =^..^=

  3. Laura says:

I don’t wear skinny jeans…because they make me feel fat. Ha! You’re not alone there. (In feeling fat. You don’t actually look fat in them.)

And side note – don’t feel bad about the last post. It’s important to get that stuff out. Life gets everyone down at times. You’re not alone on this one either.

  4. Tracy says:

Skinny jeans are supposed to be tight tight tight! I almost always have to go up a size. Don’t let it get you down.

You know, I think these must not actually be skinny jeans. I don’t think they are tight enough! They must just be straight-legged jeans. LOL. I know nothing about fashion.

  5. Emily says:

Oh good lord, I will personally never be able to pull off wearing skinny jeans. I am knock-kneed and skinny jeans only unflatteringly enhance my anatomy, therefore I’m all about straight-leg or flared jeans! However, your skinny jeans look terrific – very stylish with your boots!

  6. Kayla says:

I hate jean shopping. Every brand and style is different with sizing and it drives me nuts. I actually just bought my first pair of skinny jeans a couple weeks ago. I’m still not sure how I feel about them though.

  7. Pam says:

I do have skinny jeans! I wear them with boots in the winter and ballet flats other times.

I hate clothing sizes. It makes it so hard to buy anything without trying it on! Take Aeropostale for example. I love their jeans. Some I wear a 7, some I wear a 9. And I wear their uniform khakis at work–in a size 5! Makes no sense.

Three different styles in ONE store?! That is madness! Thanks for sharing. That makes me feel better 😉

  8. Stephany says:

I have a pair of skinny jeans (and a pair of jeggings!) They don’t really make me feel fat, they just feel like regular jeans — just tighter down my leg! I love the way they look with boots but ugh, I live in Florida. I hardly ever get to wear them with boots! (But not that I’m complaining. I’m too wimpy for cold weather anyway.)

I wanted to comment on your last post but I couldn’t find any good words. I hope you get everything worked out and get more in control.
Anyway, I do not own skinny jeans but I’ve been considering them. I don’t really have any boots I could wear them with though. The few pairs of knee high boots that I own are way too tight in the calves for anything other than tights to fit under. I have some boots that come mid-calf and I thought about wearing them over jeans though.. maybe if I ever get skinny jeans. I have tried on a few pairs of skinny jeans in the past and I struggle with them fitting my calves too. I don’t even think my calves are that big!! Just a bit muscular.

  10. Marcia says:

I just got mine after getting my latest pair of boots. If it werent for my mighty calves i wouldn’t have gotten them.
    You look cute in them!

  11. I don’t wear skinny jeans. I like the idea of them, but I didn’t feel good in them. I feel like everyone looks good in them except me!

  12. Maggie says:

I do own skinny jeans, and jeggings as well. I think both of them (or maybe the jeggings) were a size larger than I normally wear. I often wear them both under boots, but occasionally wear the skinny jeans with flats.

  13. J says:

I got my first pair of skinny jeans for Christmas but I have not worn them outside the house yet. I don’t like how they are tight all the way down my legs which is weird because I love wearing my running spandex! Weird how jeans make me more self conscious but running spandex I feel fine in!

    • kilax says:

I bet you totally look great in them! You should wear them!

Although, did someone buy them for you? Someone would really have to know your body type well to buy you jeans at all!

  14. Kristina says:

So, my students (high schoolers) have been wearing skinny jeans for the past few years. Because of that, I have forsworn them without ever trying them. I even got a really cute pair of skinny cords, but I took them back because I couldn’t bear to be one of those 40-year-old people trying to look hip.
I do think the long sweater, skinny jeans/cords + boots is a great look, but, again, that’s what all my students have been wearing and I just can’t bring myself to try to pull it off!
As for your jeans- I think they look really good. I do like the ironic statement however!

  15. Etta says:

I think it’s interesting that skinny jeans are such a big fad in a country with a growing obesity problem.

    • kilax says:

Since super models will always be skinny and our clothes are based off of their body types, we will probably always have something like that!

  16. gina says:

I want a pair of skinny jeans but I am way too afraid to try them! You look great in your new jeans!

    • kilax says:

You should try the ones that I got. I think they are just straight-cut, not actually skinny 🙂 I don’t think I know what I am talking about (most of the time).

  17. Erin says:

Women’s clothing sizes are so stupid. I swear, I tried on every pair of jeans in Macy’s on Saturday and still couldn’t find the right size! That’s why I only buy pants from The Limited. I know my size by heart there 🙂

  18. If it makes you feel better, skinny jeans are supposed to be tight, and based on the look of how they fit your thighs, yours is too big. So there’s that 🙂

I personally hate it, I don’t think they’re flattering to people with big hips like me, bc it just shows how big my thighs/hips are, and make my calves look skinny (and my calves are not skinny, nor do I want them to be!)

    • kilax says:

Yeah, I don’t think these are actually skinny jeans, after I thought about it more, and how they fit, like you mentioned. They are just straight cut! Ha ha.

  19. Susan says:

Sooooo many people in NYC wear skinny jeans, and I broke down and bought them…and I like them. I usually wear jeggings, which have more stretch than normal skinny jeans and I think they’re much more comfortable. And the fact that boots fit them much easier is awesome!

  20. Kelly says:

The irony is that skinny jeans make me feel quite fat. I still wear them, however, so I can tuck them into boots.

  21. The Linz says:

I just bought my first pair at x-mas and I ONLY wear them with boots. Otherwise I don’t think I can pull off the look. I actually bought the jeans so I could buy the boots — since that is all the fashion these days. Ha ha!

  22. Liz H says:

I was anti skinny jeans for a looong time, then I found a pair that fits perfectly (Citizen of Humanity – totally worth the $$). I only wear skinny jeans now! Love them with boots and ballet flats 🙂

And I hate looking at sizes too… so stupid. I wear like a 4 in some places and an 8 in other. Dumb! As long as it fits, then I don’t care what size!
