Time for Tights

Or hose. Or nylons. Or whatever.

One of the reasons I’m happy I keep a blog – when I wake up with a headache, feel like crap, and don’t know what to wear, I can just look at old blog posts for ideas! The outfit I liked had tights in it. With it being in the 40s when I left my house, and a high in the low 60s, I thought, “Why not? It’s Tights Time!”

As I was putting on tights in my closet, still half asleep and out of it, I thought “I love tights!” and all the reasons why… Then I saw the ones I grabbed had a hole in them and thought, “Tights are a pain in the butt!” and all the reasons why… so here is my delirious, early am tights pro/con list:

Pros

  • prevent me from scratching bug bites
  • keep me warm
  • but you can take them off when they get too hot (if your legs are shaved?)
  • but you don’t have to shave your legs to wear them!
  • keeps my skirt from riding up (apparently, not the one I wore today)
  • the right color makes me look slimmer

  • they look sexy paired with boots

Cons

  • prevent me from wearing flip flops for the walk to the office

  • random holes in them

  • they don’t last very long
  • the wrong color makes me look like a little kid on Easter Sunday

  • they sometimes ride down throughout the day
  • might not keep my skirt from riding up

TBD

  • they may make wearing flats less painful (less rubbing on the back of the heel)

Anything to add/take off my lists?

They SOMETIMES ride down? I feel like I’m always hoisting at the hose if I wear them… which is why I barely barely do. I think I’ve managed to avoid them for at least a year.

However, you do look really good in them. Well, the black ones. White ones, I agree, are totally little kid on Easter. 🙂

Ha ha ha. I think you have to get them a bit big so they don’t do that? But not too big… and it’s tricky, since you don’t know how they will fit when you pick up the package!!!

This was hilarious! Pro: tights prevent chub rub! Um, if you have that sorta problem.

  3. Pros-they hold my stomach in, help extend my summer wardrobe and make me feel more pulled together

Cons-ones that don’t fit ride down/up and finding random holes while you’re already too far from home to change

Today is a tights day for me too, see you soon!

  4. I LOOOOVE tights and also wore them for the first time this week! (Great minds think alike I guess!!) I always end up going up a size in tights because of my long legs. I feel like sizing for them is from a different planet. When I go up a size (or 2 sometimes), I don’t have as much trouble with them riding down… and they stay up because they are still tight-ish. I like different colors that I try to get away with at the office (olive green, maroon, purplish). Love that it is fall and it is time for tights!!!! Aaaaand you can still wear slides (which I prefer anyways), just not flip flops 🙂

I love tights too but haven’t worn them yet this year.
Where did you get that striped dress?

i seirously hate tights. they are so uncomfortable and just ride up all day long and I’m constnatly pulling them down which looks really classy…

I always associate hose with church. When I was a little girl my grandma always forced me to wear hose to work. Now that tights are back in style maybe I should try a pair of cute tights with comfy flats or boots. I like your dress! Have a great day

I haven’t worn tights in years but I have been wearing the spandex cotton tights under my dresses in the winter. Keeps my legs warm and lets me wear dresses even when it snows!

  9. I almost wore tights this week too! My biggest thing with tights is they feel itchy. I don’t know if its because I know I can’t scratch my legs easily (although its not super easy in pants either) but my legs always itch when I wear them!

  10. So maybe I’m weird, but I wear pantyhose with my underwear on the outside of the hose. You know, it totally keeps it from riding down!

Now as for the hole, carry some clear nail polish with you, if you don’t do that already. As soon as you see a snag, put some polish and voila! It will not increase!

I really like the outfit in the first pic! Love the dress and jacket together.

I love that tights mean I can wear dresses in the winter! But I hate buying them because the sizing is always wrong. Too many chances for muffin top.

I love tights!!! And I love tights season! Another great thing about tights: I can wear shorter skirts with dark tights than I might wear sans tights. Although today I saw a chick wearing a really short dress (really it was a top) with tights. Not leggings. Tights. Um. Hello, I almost saw her underwear. If she was even wearing any, LOL. Tights != pants.

Also, if you take dance class, tights means you don’t have to wear underwear. (Or at least, you shouldn’t, if you are wearing a leotard over your tights. SOOO much more comfortable w/o undies. But, much like the running community’s conversation about going comando under running tights, my friends and I have had the same convo about dance tights.)

Yes! I could not wear that dress in the pic w/o tights. I mean, I did once, and my husband liked it… but it would not be appropriate anywhere else. LOL. I don’t think I could do the long shirt/tights combo. LOL!

You can talk to me all you want about going commando, because I do as frequently as possible! Ha!

Gosh I haven’t worn tights in years! Great tip lol and ill agree I won’t wear white ones.

I love tights with boots. I don’t miss being in the workforce and having to dress up everyday. We went to a charity thing last night and I couldn’t wait to come home to comfy clothes. I’m a slob!

Tights are my favorite accessory. Target has so many colors and patterns, not to mention lots of online stories I drool over but haven’t ordered from.
