Half Marathon Outfit

Has anyone else noticed that all of the women’s exercise clothes this season seem to be pink or green?

Good thing I like pink and green!

I was at Kohl’s on Friday, and decided to buy some of their Nike workout clothes to try during my practice runs, in hopes I can wear them at the half marathon. I showed them to Steven tonight, and he had two comments – “White? You’re very brave,” and “That looks like a soccer uniform.”

Ha. I am not surprised about the last comment – that is what attracted me to the white and green tops in the first place – they reminded me of shopping for soccer jerseys. I played soccer for a few years in high school, and my friends (okay, FRIEND) and I were really into it. We loved to go to Scheels, our local sporting goods store, and look at all the cool soccer gear.

Maybe someday I’ll get back into soccer. Maybe there’s still hope that I could actually become good at it!

I think almost half my running clothes are some version of pink! Good thing I like pink, too!

I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to wear for my half. I have to wait and see what the weather will be like first.

Erin – It’s so funny! You go into the stores, and almost all you see is pink! I hope the half is warm enough for these outfits πŸ™‚ Hee hee. Otherwise, they will be my summer outfits!

  3. Nat says:

    Nike makes great bras btw…

Me .. I’m more of an orange and red girl.

  4. Mica says:

Those are cute outfits! You’ll look like a half marathon runnin’, soccer-playin’ athlete for sure!

  5. kilax says:

Nat – Thanks for the tip! I found one sports bra I like, but it’s always good to have an alternate πŸ™‚

Mica – Thanks πŸ™‚ Maybe I can go play some soccer after the race. Ha ha.

You know, I hadn’t noticed the color choices this year.

Perhaps because I haven’t shopped for clothes for myself in over 6 months. πŸ˜€

  7. Kyra says:

I don’t like any of those… I’m also a huge running skirt convert. I thought that a big girl like me couldn’t wear them, and such, but not only do I look decent in them, you never have the “creeping up” problem like shorts have. I tried them on the cheap (walmart carries a danskin version for about $10) and now I’m a devoted fan.

And I can’t wear pink or lime green. I look like a plague victim meets fashion 1970’s reject. It’s just bad. I’d be a hazard on the course! πŸ˜‰

I’m a big fan of the running skirts too. Super comfy! But those shorts look comfy as well!
Luckily I look good in pink (awful in green)…a lot of my workout gear is light blue but I LOVE wearing a pink shirt when I’m going to lift some really heavy weights in the “boys room” at the gym. I have one tank that is pink with a silver skull on it, and another I got free from work that says, “Cocktails by Jenn.” Something about wearing super girly clothes and then hitting the bench press just cracks me up. πŸ™‚
Oh yeah, and I hope it’s actually warm enough (and no snow!!) to wear these options when you have your half!

  9. kilax says:

Cat. – I normally would not notice either, but we have been spending a lot of time in sports stores!

Kyra – I have heard that a lot of people like the running skirts! I’ll have to try them out. Right now, shorts work really well for me.

diane – Blue would be nice! If I only I could find something in blue. It makes me laugh that these are so girly as well πŸ™‚ After this weekend, who knows what the weather will be like in May!

  10. Gina (Mannyed) says:

you’re going to look great whilst running a half marathon!

  11. kilax says:

Gina (Mannyed) – Thanks! I hope so πŸ˜€

  12. Alice says:

ha! i’m still in my running gear from this afternoon, and it’s green running pants and a pink sports bra. (then a completely generic tank top that is not meant to be exercise gear, so it doesn’t count.) i love cute work out clothes… it’s another way to motivate me to get to the gym πŸ™‚

  13. I am loving the green shirt and shorts with green stripe. I don’t pull pink off very well. I CAN’T wait to shop for workout clothes. Right now I am still a bit too big.

  14. Bethany says:

They do look like a soccer uniform! Hey, as long as you can stay stylish while exercising, why not?? πŸ˜‰

  15. kilax says:

Alice – Too funny! I knew it was a trend πŸ˜‰ I wonder if I should just get some cheap tanks for exercising outside this summer. “Exercise” clothes can be expensive!

Hotch Potchery – Thanks πŸ™‚ I bet you will find some cute stuff too! Even Target carries champion brand! I don’t know your size, but I have seen a lot there πŸ™‚

Bethany – Exactly! I want to look spiffy at my race. Ha ha.

  16. If I keep sedentary any longer, I’m going to need new running clothes too because I will outgrown what I already have. Sigh. I happen to like your choices. Then again, I also like soccer. =)

  17. kilax says:

SoMi’s Nilsa – You poor thing πŸ™ I hope you feel better soon so you can get back on with your running program! As much fun as shopping for new outfits is… πŸ˜›

  18. Ashley says:

Pretty much ALL my running clothes are pink and/or black. I was thinking I should maybe branch out…but why? It all matches each other right now – I can mix and match ANY combo of items. πŸ˜‰

Have you tried any racing skirts? They are so comfortable – I love them! I wear one more than the other cuz it has a pocket for my keys and stuff….but yeah, they’re great!

  19. kilax says:

Ashely – Mixing and Matching is a HUGE plus when it come to running clothes! Especially since the article of clothing I am looking for always seem to be dirty! I have not tried the skirts, but have heard how awesome they are. I really want to try one now!
