Official Chicago Marathon top

By , October 8, 2010 9:53 am

Here is the top I will be wearing for the Chicago Marathon on Sunday:

What do you guys think?

I assure you, the letters are easier to read in person… and I will look more excited on Sunday, for sure! Iron-on letters are surprisingly stressful. Projects like that bring out the hidden perfectionist in me.

I really didn’t want to wear this top, but it’s supposed to be really warm* on Sunday now. The letters would have stood out better on the plain orange top, but this top may help me stand out to Steven.

*For running!

  1. Your top looks like the perfect pattern for something in our nursery. Too bad it’s probably a stretchy fabric that isn’t sold by the yard. =)

Agreed, though, that you’ll be easy for Steven to see … bonus!

      • Elizabeth says:

I’m not sure yet. Any recommendations?

I’ll definitely let you know if I see you! πŸ™‚

I have heard the second half of the course is less crowded. But if you are looking for action you can stay downtown or head to Boys Town (mile 8ish)!

  8. Erin says:

It looks great! I can’t wait to read about your marathon! WHOOO HOOOO!!!

  9. I was just going to say that it looks hard to read but since that isn’t an issue, I love it! It looks good and Kimbot = awesome.

  10. Anne says:

I love you top…you look great! Good luck Kim…can’t wait to hear all about it!

  11. Anne says:

I hate when that happens…”I love YOUR top” πŸ™‚ not, I love you, top πŸ˜‰

  12. Mica says:

Boo about the hot weather, but at least you’ll be lookin’ HOT in your bright top. I hope you and Steven find each other! I found my parents just fine, and my running friend found her dad twice. However, I didn’t see you or my other friends who I knew were “somewhere” out on the course. I think being specific is the most important thing–and probably the farther he is from the Finish and Start, the easier it will be to find him. Those two spots are kind of crazy.

    • kilax says:

Aww, thanks! And thanks for the optimism of seeing Steven! So many people have told me I won’t… but we are planning out his spectator spots right now πŸ™‚

  13. Kim says:

I love the top! Very cute! Best of luck in your race!!

  14. martymankins says:

I like it. And “Kimbot” is a cool moniker.

  15. Hopefully this is going to make you really easy to spot!

Goodluck! And remember to keep hydrated! It’s gonna be a warm one…

  16. Holly says:

  17. Christina says:

It is cute and you will definitely stand out. Good Luck Kimbot!

  18. teamarcia says:

Love it! And it’s self-cooling too right? Ugh what are we in for?? Run smart and enjoy!

  19. Jen says:

I love it! You look beautiful in it! I can’t wait to see you fly by. I’ll be around mile 18 if everything works out ok. Good luck, have fun and keep smiling!

  20. bobbi says:

Good luck to you!!! You are going to do great! (where did you find your letters? I love them!)

    • kilax says:

I got them at Hobby Lobby! They have a lot of options there πŸ™‚ Are you using letters?

      • bobbi says:

I went with hot pink duct tape. I thought it would be easier, but boy, I was wrong about that! That’s stuff’s tough to cut!

  21. Jen says:

Have a great race! It looks good and you’re right, you should stand out in the crowd in that.

You might want to consider reinforcing the iron-on with a strategic stitch or two (with white thread) on each letter. Sweat might just loosen the glue and then you might be KI BOT or KIMBO.

  22. Pauline says:

It looks great on you! Good luck in the marathon!!:)

  23. Leah says:

Love the shirt!! Good luck! πŸ™‚

  24. Karin says:

    Looks fantastic!!!

  25. That came out fantastic! Looks great! There is a car exactly like yours near our house, so when Steve and I pass it he goes, Kimbot! Can’t wait to tell him about your shirt!

  26. Good choice! Will stand out in the crowd for Steven to find you, cool enough for 26.2 miles, no unnecessary ‘exposure,’ and orange is one of ‘our’ fave colors! Happy Chicago Weekend, Kim!

    *hugs* from Orlando!

  27. Jen says:

Love it! Good luck in Chicago!

Thanks for the comments on my blog/logo. And thanks for keeping me in mind for graphic design.

  28. Paula says:

Yay! It’s almost here! I’m so excited for you!! I tried to iron a patch one time…maja drama. Crazy thing wouldn’t stick. I think your top will be great!
