Anxiety about the race

Political race, that is. Did you think I was talking about something else? Ha ha.

We were in Iowa this past weekend, and one of my family members commented on the annoyance of living in a swing state with all the political calls and mailers.

“That’s weird!” I said, “we haven’t been getting any political mailers!”

Steven looked at me like I was crazy. And told me that, yes, we in fact do, he just recycles them after he gets the mail. So I never see them.

And boy, was he right! We came home on Sunday to two days worth of mail – about 20 political mailers.

And this one came last night:

WHAT?! WHO DOESN’T LIKE KITTENS?!!! I CANNOT VOTE FOR THIS PERSON.

Ha ha ha. Just kidding. I don’t even know who this person is, and didn’t look at the back of the mailer. It did get my attention though!

Anyway, I am very happy Election Day is next week. I am ready. As a highly anxious person, not knowing who will be elected is making me feel really uneasy. And… that is all I will say about that! Ha!

Does election season make anyone else feel highly anxious? Any funny mailers arriving at your house?

We got that mailer! It also got my attention. But not enough to change my vote 🙂

I want it all to be OVER. Yesterday.

wth. My friend said she got a flier that said AF hates puppies and it had puppies all over it. Wth is that? lol

I’m a bit of a political junkie at election season, so I get very wrapped up in the horserace and the outcome. At one point I was practically nauseous over it!

  4. I work in advertising. Enough said! My job is insane right now. Ahhhh

  5. Kim says:

    That’s an awesome mailer! HA!!!

  6. Diane says:

YES! I just told a friend that I couldn’t sleep the other night because I was thinking about work, the weather, and the election. My brain just kept cycling through all three.
And I feel SO much peer pressure about how to vote that I just don’t want to do it–which just causes people to gang up on me about not voting. I just want it OVER.

  7. J says:

Wow that is crazy. We got 6 today. I can’t believe they would say that someone hates kittens. Crazy.

  8. Pam says:

Trust me. You don’t hate political mailing season NEARLY as much as I do.

  9. Anne says:

I just want it to be over, which is why I voted early today. Well that, and I don’t know if I’ll have time on Election Day. Though now I’m worried I may have voted for someone who hates kittens. But mostly I’m sick of all the hate and mudslinging and how generally uninformed a lot of the people doing it seem to be.

My friends and family in Ohio have it pretty bad – they get several calls a day, mailings, and almost all their commercials are political. I was there for a weekend back in September and was annoyed by it, and can’t imagine having to deal with that for months on end!

Yes! I cannot imagine either! My aunt was talking about all the calls she gets. It is ridiculous. I accidentally answered a political call on my cell this week. It was the only one I’ve had all year! (Ok, answered anyway.)

For some reason we don’t get political mailers or phone calls. Not sure how we managed to avoid those lists!

And, yes, you’re allowed to be anxious about how this race turns out since it will actually have an impact on you in a way.

I’m trying to be rational about the race, but it’s hard – it IS an emotional issue.
Living in CA, we get very few presidential ads, but when we were in Colorado this summer, it was out of control!
I do have election-fatigue and just can’t believe how much money has been spent.

  12. Kandi says:

We don’t get a lot of political mailers but maybe because I don’t live in a swing state?
I can’t wait for the election to be over so they’ll stop with all the political ads on tv and radio.

  13. Oh man I am just counting down the days until the election is over. I already voted but am still bombarded daily. The same woman came to my door to hand out flyers and then again handed out her flyers at the train station as I waited to go to work. Can’t.Handle.It!

  14. Losing Lindy says:

no mailers here. I did already vote though

  15. I was in Iowa this weekend too and they have a ton more political commercials there. I don’t even think there is time for non-political commercials in between all those political ones. I feel bad for Iowans because political commercials have been going on there for almost a year since they are the first state to hold caucus.
