Notes:

  • The way the year started out, I thought I would smash my 2011 mileage (1485). But, I have been struggling to get miles in since May! It seems like I peaked in April. Right now I am 29.7 miles away from last year’s mileage. I guess this just gives me a bigger chance to increase mileage again in 2013 if I decide to make that a goal!
  • My breathing has felt a bit more labored lately.
  • It’s time for a new pair of shoes, but my size (12) only seems to be available in the newest model of my shoe. So… I will wait and put it on my holiday wish list. Anything fitness related on your holiday wishlist this year? The ZOOMA blog has a Running on the Wall Giveaway that I thought was cool!

Holy wow! 1485 was your mileage last year? I think my goal for next year is to get to at least 1000 miles. I dont know how to increase my mileage from 15 miles a week to at least 20 or 30. I think after my half I am going to start looking into ways of increasing my miles per week. I want a pair of running tights for christmas. Do you wear Asics? Have a great Sunday 🙂

If you have a solid base of 15 miles a week it won’t take long to get to 20 then 30! 🙂

I do wear Asics – the Gel Cumulus 🙂

I’ve been trying to come up with my Christmas list for awhile. I want a good pair of warm running gloves/mittens for the really cold days in the winter, but haven’t found any that fit what I’m looking for yet. Any suggestions? Was the trail race you did this week similar to the Chiller race course?

    • kilax says:

You know, I was just at Tarjay and they had a very nice looking line of sports gloves near the regular gloves! They looked thin, but warm. I am not much help other than seeing those though, because I wear those cheapie gloves in the winter and only wear my ski gloves when it gets to be below zero…

I think the trail course was very similar to Chiller! I talked to the race director after and he was telling me the minor differences. Can’t wait for Chiller!

Sorry to hear about your labored breathing. I was having some difficulty in my peak mileage marathon training weeks and the doc prescribed an inhaler for possible exercise induced asthma. Somewhere I read that 75% of elite runners have it. Oh well, that’s my story, your issue may be something completely different.

    • kilax says:

Oh wow! Did you use it?! I think my issue more has to do with carrying too much weight around. 😉

      • Pete B says:

No, I have not used it yet. My mileage is not yet at the levels where my lungs are adversely affected. It’s nice to know I have it, however. We’ll see if it actually works. Hope your breathing gets better!

  4. I’m done running until after the baby is born, but I’m already dreaming about new shoes!

  5. Erin says:

For the first time in awhile I don’t have anything fitness related on my wish list! Although, I should probably ask for new shoes if I’m going to start upping my mileage again. I’d also like swim lessons but not sure how to ask for that.

  6. Emily says:

Your mileage is just incredible! Sorry to hear about the labored breathing. 🙁 Hopefully it improves with some time. Yay for new shoes! How are your Mizunos doing these days?

    • kilax says:

Thanks for asking about them – I should mention that at my next recap. I stopped wearing them in Aug because they were not as supportive as my Asics. So I am using Asics trail shoes 🙂
