Commenting trend

By , September 10, 2014 6:58 am

Lately I have noticed that the posts I write off-the-cuff get more comments than the posts I have prepared in advance.

This actually makes total sense to me – the off-the-cuff posts are more passionate, more rushed, more “I am thinking about this now and I have to get it out there!” Maybe they’re more vibrant.

The planned posts are usually (but not always) documenting my life. And yeah, yawn. Ha ha!

Do you notice any sort of commenting trends on your blog? Do you prepare your posts in advance?

Back in the day, I would have posts prepared a few days in advance. For whatever reason, now I am less patient. It’s hard for me to keep a thought to myself if I want to talk about it! MUST POST RIGHT NOW!

This photo is NOT related to this post, but I ordered some low-drop, light running shoes to try! Exciting! Let’s ignore that they are Asics and I am wearing a Brooks shirt!

This must have been a planned post because I’m the only commenter! πŸ™‚

I don’t really get many comments at all – so…I have no answer.
I’m just here to say I have those shoes and I love them. πŸ™‚

Ooh, let us (or me, really) know how you like those Lytes! (Yes, I work at a running store and recognize many shoes on sight…. *hangs head in shame*) I don’t think I’ve noticed any trends with comments, although I do tend to get more comments for bigger posts like race recaps.

I don’t think you should hang your head in shame. I think you SHOULD know! πŸ™‚

Recaps do seem to get more comments! I know I try to comment on them when I see one! πŸ™‚

Asics + Brooks = open minded runner πŸ™‚

I tried those shoes – they didn’t work for me because my orthotic didn’t fit in them right but they were super light and cute. Hope they work for you!

I prepare nothing in advance for my blog because seat-of-the-pants is my middle name. Interested in how you’ll like those shoes. I wear a lighter pair for speed/short and my big clunkers for distance.

Love the kicks!! Will be interested to hear how you like them.

Eh since I don’t blog much it’s hard to judge the comments. But my race recaps seem to get more comments lately.

I agree that the spontaneous posts might be more vibrant (such a great description!) and might get people thinking more than a more tought out, edited post…

I was going to not comment on this post to see if it affected the trend. But then I thought maybe I SHOULD comment about it because then how else would you know that I didn’t want to comment if it wasn’t on the internet?

    My brain hurts. πŸ˜‰

Hmmm, I’m not sure. I do know that when I have a weird title, it seems to grab people. I’ve also found that if I don’t write about running, then some followers lose interest. In the end, it’s your blog, just write about what you want!

    • kilax says:

Ahh, good point! A good title works. And interesting that people get bored if you don’t talk about running… I get bored if that is all someone talks about.

Oh yeah, I totally write about what I want! Just something I noticed! πŸ™‚

  9. I like your Run Happy shirt, I have the same one in purple πŸ™‚

I rarely get comments, as my life is boring.

  11. Sometimes I write a post that I think will get more comments than others (I say “more” instead of “a lot” because anything more than maybe four comments in a lot for me, ha), but then they don’t get any! I never know how to interpret comments – I don’t blog as much as I assume I’ve lost readers, and many of the people who used to comment on my blog a lot have fallen out of the blog world. Which is totally fine. I also don’t blog to get comments, but it’s nice every now and then. I think I’m not answering your question anymore, ha.

Well I’ll comment here instead of the original post from today which led me to this one (that I somehow missed originally). First off, yay for new shoes! I love light shoes. I tried regular trainers for awhile but I went back to my New Balance Minimus!

Secondly, as for comments, anytime I post about something controversial, or at least something running related with multiple options, I tend to get more comments.

  13. I think the off the cuff posts tend to evoke more emotion and people are more likely to want to share that in a comment! I’ve been short on time lately so I just don’t comment too much on blogs anymore. Maybe now that the Ironman is over I will have more time.

I don’t think far enough ahead to plan post. I just write when I have time and post!
