Notes:

  • The wind was such a bear this week… yay, start of spring! It was actually windy enough on my long run Saturday that I stopped at mile 7 to put my arm warmers on. That doesn’t seem odd for a normal person, but it’s odd for me to be wearing arm warmers with a tank when it’s in the mid 40s! Eh, it will be like this for the next month or longer. I’ll deal.
  • My long run was awesome though – Rachel was in town for the concert so I had company! We ran from my house to Red Robin, and Steven met us there and we had lunch. And even better, Rachel and I had pretty even splits and felt good the whole time! We’re just under three weeks until our ultra, woot woot!
  • I made sure not to do speedwork the day before my long run this week, and that made me feel MUCH better! The hills didn’t feel as challenging as last week, either. I miss the snow, but one nice thing about it being gone is that I can run my hilly routes!
  • Even though I haven’t done any of my goal races yet this year (5K or half marathon), I’ve kind of been thinking about what I want to do after them, in the late spring. I keep thinking, “hmm, maybe if the Wisconsin Half goes really well, I will keep training and do a marathon a few weeks later.” But, yeah. I typically ramp down after the Wisconsin Half, and, who knows what the weather will be like in late May! We shall see!

  1. I can not imagine speed work the day before a long run, I would die! Lol.

You’re right, the wind WAS kind of a bear this week. It was mostly pretty nice and sunny up here though, so it’s hard to complain.

I think you have plenty of time to decide what you want to do after the WI Half. (6 weeks!! eek!) I’m a big planner so I always want to plan all my races like 2 years out, but I’m learning that I need to just wait on decisions, even ones that are only 6 weeks (!) away, because I always end up changing my mind anyway!

Ha! I ALMOST had a complaint in here about the sun, too. It was way too much for me on Monday. I was happy when it was overcast yesterday. 🙂

Wait, seriously?! Two years out?! It’s good you are learning you change your mind and can do things more last minute 🙂 I can handle a few races on my calendar here and there, but too many and I loose my drive to train.

I am impressed you can do two long runs so close together and knock out such a speedy run the day after 19 miles 🙂 I am living vicariously, since I am still “waiting” to really feel 100% or close.
Your job sounds a lot more fun than mine.

    • kilax says:

Aww, thank you! I hope your 100% is soooon!

My Efit job? 🙂 It is my “fun” job! 🙂

I always thought I would really enjoy teaching classes, but I’ve never taken action on it, I am not sure I have enough confidence. I’ve always admired the fun instructors, who work hard and make it fun 🙂
My guess is you have fun kick butt classes.

        • kilax says:

Aww, you should give it a try sometime! You will build confidence as you go! I had to! I was so nervous for my first class!

          Thank you!
