“The wife who bakes cookies”

Steven told me I am becoming known in his office as “the wife who bakes cookies.”

Even though I vowed in November that I never wanted to “bake, see or eat another cookie EVER again,” I’ve probably made cookies at least four times since then – as Christmas gifts, for birthdays, baby showers, now for Valentine’s Day.

It always seems like there are extras for Steven to take into work. Oops. This time, the cookies were a request (sort of) from a coworker/friend. He informed Steven that I could make him sugar cookies for any of his birthdays (?), Valentine’s Day, etc. “You can never have too many sugar cookies.”

Sugar cookies are my favorite to make – probably because I’ve been baking them the longest, and have figured out exactly how to make them. I’ve got the frosting figured out too. I have fun sitting down and decorating them – even though my decorating isn’t the prettiest.

Yum. Cookies. The thing is, I like to make them, but haven’t been eating a lot of them lately. I just like to share. I do have a live-in taste tester though!

Where do I sign up for the cookie mailing list??
These are my favorite kind of cookies!! I’m not allowed to make them, as only 50% of the batch ever make it to other people….I have NO willpower!

  11. Denise says:

Cookies look YUMMY!! Do you share your recipes for the cookies and the frosting?
They look like they came from a bakery! I have never figured out the smooth shiny frosting.

  12. kilax says:

Nat – I like to make the dough pretty thick, then take them out after 6-7 minutes. I make sure they never get brown, then they are nice and chewy! Well, that’s the way I prefer them πŸ˜‰

mom – Come here and I will bake you some! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Gina (Mannyed) – I would love to! It’s too late for V-Day, but maybe St. Patty’s Day!

    Hilly – Thanks! πŸ˜€

Bethany – I did make the icing – just margarine, powdered sugar, vanilla and milk!

    claire – Thank you1 πŸ™‚

Sarah – Regarding #2, that is only a recent development! Hee hee. Oh, and #1 – just normal frosting that I made at home! πŸ™‚

kaylen – I should send out cookies. That would be fun. I love sugar cookies too. Some people don’t like them, but I have such a sweet tooth – they totally hit the spot!

Denise – I will share – it’s the recipe Grandma Ilax gave me! And the frosting recipe I found online. My trick is to make the frosting pretty “wet” then dip the cookies and let them dry for a few hours!

  13. kapgar says:

I love that you’ve baked four times since the vow was made. That’s great. We have too, if it makes you feel any better.

Your cookies look fabulous! Nice job! You really are the sugar cookie queen! Don’t worry about that one little monster cookie from back when. Everyone needs to have one of those stories to keep them human. πŸ˜‰ So you are going to be the popular wife that all the guys are going to be envious of Steven for? Pretty cool! πŸ™‚

  18. Felicia says:

Yes but there are worse things to be LOL

Actually baking helps calm your center, did you know that? I read somewhere that the happy smells that come with baking actually improve your mood. Even if you have no intention of eating what you are baking.

For me personally, I just love to bake. It makes people happy πŸ™‚

  19. kilax says:

    CourtneyInControl – Thanks πŸ™‚

suze – Sugar cookies for any holiday are my favorite! Hee hee. Thanks!

    teeni – I don’t think the guys are envious… πŸ˜›

Felicia – You’re right! It calms me, makes me happy, and makes OTHER people happy πŸ™‚
