I’m no fun to be around this weekend

I can’t figure out why I am so angry/frustrated/anxious this weekend. I tell myself that recognizing something is wrong is the first step in solving the problem, but I am not going to get very far if I can’t figure out what is bothering me so much.

We’ve had gorgeous spring weather here all weekend, which means I got to do both of my runs outside. Yesterday was a quick 3-miler. Today, I did Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred*, then, after my legs quit shaking (approximately 20 minutes later), I did my 8 mile run. I used a hydration belt for the first time, and even brought along some sport beans to take for energy. The park in our neighborhood has a .48 mile (thanks to Steven’s Garmin for the calculation) oval sidewalk, so I just ran that 16+ times. It was a great run, and I felt like I could keep going. I felt great when I was done. I love running outdoors. I love that the breeze keeps me cool. I love watching people in the park, to keep myself entertained. I love the warm sun on my skin.

So why, after my glorious run, did that rotten mood come immediately RIGHT BACK?

I’d like to blame it on hormones, but I think it is more than that. My energy levels have been having some weird swings** lately, and I wonder if I have some sort of imbalance that might be affecting me. Yeah. That’s be great – if I could blame it all on biology!

*I’ll try to write a review of the 30 Day Shred later on, after I’ve been using it awhile. For now, just let me say – push ups and crunches kick my butt!
**More on that later too.

they’ll only kick your butt short term, once those muscles wake up they’ve got great memory. for now be happy in knowing that you’re working stuff that needed the attention (other wise it would be a piece of cake).

my grumpy mood is from staring at a monitor all weekend 😐 (9 days)

When I’m super angry or pissed off, I really don’t want anyone around me either. So I understand completely.

I can’t believe you ran the same route 16 times!! That would get mind-numbing after a while for me!

And I totally hate being female because of this hormone thing. They mess me up with exercising as well. Guys don’t have to worry about that schtuff and it’s not fair!!

DeAnne – I can’t wait until it’s NOT kicking my butt anymore and I can move onto Level 2! Woo-hoo! Ha ha. Forced Enthusiasm. It’s going to be awhile! 😉 When is your monitor break?

martymankins – Thanks. I sometimes worry that I am being super… bitchy. I just need to be left alone when I am like this. But I want to be around my husband, so it’s hard 🙁

Lindsay – Ha! Luckily, I had some tunes to listen to, and people with dogs to dodge and such. Otherwise, it would have been too much! Oh gosh. You know how they say exercise is supposed to make you feel better during that time of the month? Uh… no. Not for me! I hate how much it messes with me now.

Sorry to hear that you’ve been in a terrible mood. Sometimes I think there’s no reason for these things – and that’s ok. I’m sure it’ll pass…and good for you for still kicking ass exercise-wise this weekend! 🙂

  6. I think you should throw sports beans at people when they make you mad. Ha! I’ve never heard of sports beans, btw. Only energy gel. Is one better than the other?

I can’t wait to try the 30 day shred with my daughter. You are making me feel excited about it. I always feel like I am in pretty good shape so maybe it won’t do anything for me, but you are in great shape and you are saying you felt it so now I am excited!

I’m in a terrible mood too. It makes absolutely no sense! Which makes it more aggravating… *sigh*

Maybe some planet is out of alignment or something?

  9. don’t feel bad or alone… i’m in a terrible mood too… i was hoping this week would be different from last but not so much yet… the bad mood is still hanging around… i hate it!!!
    =^..^=

supersalwa – I’m sure it will pass too. And I hope it doesn’t come back for A LONG TIME!!! 😉

SoMi’s Nilsa – Ha ha! I don’t want to waste my beans! I have not tried the gel. I’ve read a lot that a lot of people have trouble getting it down though (gag reflex) so we tried the beans. I like them! You just put a few in the side of your mouth, and chew and run with your mouth open. 🙂 And they are the only sweets I have had in A LONG TIME…

tori – Oh gosh. You are super active, but it may still kick your butt. It’s just intense and fast! I can’t wait to hear about you and your daughter trying it out! You’ll be two buff babes!

Kyra – Not knowing does make it worse, doesn’t it? I am fine with blaming it on the celestial arrangement!

CourtneyInControl – When it goes for more than a week, you just get more pissed off that it won’t go away. I thought I would feel better today. Not really 🙁

If you are seriously concerned, then make an appointment with the doctor – getting blood lab work may give you a better idea of what, if anything, is going on. You may be having trouble with blood sugar that can be remedied. Only YOU know your body the best and YOU know when something just isn’t right.

  12. Mrs. Smith says:

Wow! You did the Shred and THEN ran? You are clearly a badass and I am extremely impressed with you!!!!!

And yeah…hmm. I’ve been in a bad mood too! And I’m on spring break! What’s up with that? I did, however, feel awesome yesterday after my run. Awesome/exhausted!

  13. kilax says:

teeni – I’ve tried blood work a few years ago and nothing came of it. It may be time to try it again!

Mrs. Smith – Ha ha ha! THANKS! I am on Day 3 and going strong! Maybe we are both in bad moods because we have wacky schedules – you’re on Spring Break, work is hectic for me… that kind of makes sense, right?
