A date to bake, year 2 (POLL!!!)

By , October 10, 2009 9:12 am

Remember last year when my mom, grandma, sister and I baked all of those sweets to hand out? Well, we’re doing it again this year. Same weekend (before Thanksgiving), one less person (Christina can’t come). And I am just as excited.

But, we all remember how tired we were making so many sweets (and dealing with a few failures). So, we’ve decided to only make four things.

Of course, my mom is already calling me suggesting more and more to bake. What happened to only making four things, mother?! She’s apparently having a hard time deciding on what to bake.

So, if you were receiving a basket of sweets, which four items below would you want in it? See the photo below the poll for a reference picture. And let me know if you have some favorite item that we did not include on the list!

Which four items would you prefer to receive in a holiday sweets basket?

And, one more poll, that Steven sort of inspired me to add at the last minute.

Would you be interested in entering a contest to win a basket of homemade holiday sweets?

I love cookies, but I prefer to get things I can get just a little bit of (like a small piece of fudge or a handful of Chex Mix…that “puppy chow” stuff is really good) when I get an assortment of sweets.

My parents host a holiday cookie party every year for my stepdad’s office. They spend two weeks buying everything and making cookies. My mom likes to complain about it but I think she secretly has a good time.

aside to Erin: I was introduced to “puppy chow” a few weeks ago .. .and it was all I could do to not hang out by the bowl and eat straight out of it! 😀 😀

I hope the poll helps you (and your mom!) to settle on four types… I can’t imagine making a gazillion batches of a gazillion different types of cookies/snacks! Wouldn’t mind being in the running get get a sampler pack of them tho, LoL (thanks, Steven!)

Can I vote for the sugar cookies, like, 3 times? Because your frosted sugar cookies are really, really good!
(also, will you be making any vegan treats this year? just curious!)

    What a fun baking extravaganza!
I’m already getting excited for the holidays and they are months away! I just booked my flight home to Grand Rapids today, it definitely makes it seem much more real!
I’m definitely going to have to convince my mom to do a little healthy baking with me for the holidays!

Mmm…my goodness they all sound good! My family makes peanut butter kiss cookies and toffee every year and they’re some of my personal favs. We also make peanut brittle. I’m going to have to beg my grandma to ship me some this year.

That is the worst picture of me ever taken. You guys are doing it the weekend right before Thanksgiving? Like the 21-22? Or the weekend before that? I’m sad I’m missing out… buuuut not going to pass up on a trip to CANCUN! 😀

The only reason I voted no to winning the sweets is because I KNOW I will eat them, feel sick and regret it. But it all sounds so yummy and fun!

Oh, I hope you have an awesome time this year! The quality time you spend is the best part about it so maybe narrowing it down to just several items really is best. Yay for baked goods! 🙂
