This summer, I will…

  • Learn how to play tennis
  • Go horseback riding
  • Wear a bikini?
  • Go to Guttenberg, IA, at least three times
  • Not get injured over the fourth of July (2009 injury, 2010 injury)
  • Learn to fly (and land) Steven’s radio-controlled airplane
  • Conquer running in the heat
  • Go on a hot air balloon ride?
  • Attend as many of the LCFPD Tuesday Night Concerts in the Park as possible
  • Go on lots of picnics!
  • Bike the entire Des Plaines River Trail
  • Go kayaking for the first time

It’s not too early to start making my summer “to do wishlist” is it? The few bouts of warm weather we have had have got summer on my mind. The sun and warmth just makes me feel so good! Of course, today it is dreary and rainy… but you’ll have that.

Is there anything special you want to do this summer? Or something new you want to try?

This summer you will come to NYC. Please?? I can get all whiney if you want.

PLEASE don’t show that airplane to Steve! : )

I’ll play tennis with you! I used to play in high school! I’ll also wear a bikini with you! hahahhaha Maybe we can find cat bikinis. 😉 AND, we can plan a picnic! I have the entire summer off! WooHOO

I want to take a hot air balloon ride someday but Joey isn’t enthusiastic about it.. something about being timid about the height.
I would also love to conquer running in the heat. I mean I do it, but I usually am just suffering through it. The camelbak helped me a ton last summer.
Are you going to try kayaking on a river? or on a lake? I’ve never been on a river before but have been on the lake (behind my house!!) at least once per year for the past 3 years. I hope to get my own kayak at some point and just launch from the backyard. River kayaking looks fun but much more challenging.

I would love to try a camelbak. I bet you will conquer the heat. You will be training for your marathon in it! What date is the marathon?

I think I will try kayaking in the man-made lake in a local forest preserve first, then take it to the river. You should totally get your own kayak!

This summer is going to be packed! I cannot wait! I definitely need to get a tan this summer for the wedding and no funny tan lines!

Looks like a great start to a summer list!

I’m hoping to learn how to skateboard this summer. 🙂

  6. Biking that trail sounds like so much fun … I’d say let’s make it a family event, but I think Gavin will still be too small for any of the bike accessories. But, picnics are right up our alley … maybe we can get a little meet-up going with some of our mutual blogging pals?

I want to fly the airplane too!!!

  8. I love tennis. Its one of my favorite summer activities – besides going to the beach. 🙂

  9. Erin says:

I want to ride my bike more, go to a farmer’s market at least once a month, plant at least one vegetable (and hopefully keep it alive) in my yard, and eat outside at as many restaurants as possible. And run (and bike) with you and, if you’ll have me, go back to Guttenberg. I’ll also go horseback riding if you need a buddy! But don’t ask me to play tennis. I’m no good.

I forgot that you have that awesome Farmer’s Market! I should go with you some time! And you are definitely invited back to Guttenberg. We should go when it is really hot and sunny… playing on the beach is most fun on those days!!!

Interestingly, right now, the little path that goes to the “island” is flooded! The only way to get there is via boat. Of course, my grandparents have been in the hospital for 2 weeks, so it’s no big deal, but it’s interesting.

Great list! I usually do a list for what I will do in my next birthday year but this year I haven’t. I was thinking I’d be less list-oriented and more Zen. BUT WHO AM I KIDDING? No one. 🙂

As scared as I am of heights, I think riding in a hot air balloon would be awesome.

Kayaking is so much fun. So is tennis. They make working out seem not like working out.

  12. mom says:

    What about the garden?

  13. Kristina says:

Those sound like fun plans! I want to second (or third) the kayaking idea. I kayak about once a year or so, and it is SO much fun!
I think that hiking, camping and maybe a backpacking trip will be on my wish list!

    • kilax says:

Oh yeah! I forgot camping! We kept talking about doing that last summer and ran out of time. Hmm…

  14. Run in Philly and meet me???? Okay…that’s a November goal!

  15. kapgar says:

I want to try kayaking so bad. There’s actually a place here in Geneva that rents them for the Fox River and runs lessons. I WANT! You two should come down here and we’ll do a four-person kayak lesson.

You know, I need to do a blog post on everything that I want to do this year (maybe actually get around to posting my TINTFA update). Tennis is something my daughter and I play during the summer. We didn’t do much last year and are resolving to play at least once a week this summer.

For me, my biggest thing to do this year is scooter riding, which I did a decent amount of last summer, but our weather was pretty crappy last year. Hoping for much sunnier days in 2011.
