Congratulations… for what again?

By , December 20, 2011 4:31 pm

People have been randomly congratulating me all day at work. The first time it happened, I thought, “Oh my gosh… do I look pregnant?!” But then I did some talking around and found out an announcement was made about me at the board of directors meeting yesterday, and it’s been trickled down to the masses.

Sorry to be vague, but I cannot share the announcement. Just that I hope it pans out to something. Fingers crossed!

Yikes. Scary pic!

So they made an announcement about you but didn’t give you a heads up?

    • kilax says:

Thanks! And yes. They made the announcement, then told me, then the congrats started. I had heard some news of it last week, but had no idea it was announced. It seemed very sudden.

  9. don’t you love how you have to always hear good news about yourself from others at work and not from the direct source?

    • kilax says:

It was just so so bizarre I had to write about it. It wasn’t bothering me, but I felt a bit strange about it!

I was congratulated by the HR department about 30 seconds after my promotion. I was so surprised they already knew that I looked truly shocked, then they were horrified that they spilled the beans before I knew! Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

    • kilax says:

I guess that is a good sign that it’s legit and going to happen if HR already knows! I hope that is what it means in my case ๐Ÿ™‚

my company recently went through a merger, and they have yet to get to my level for naming people to positions. (they started with the CEO and are working their way down.) I’ve had conversations with the person who could be my boss, but nothing official yet. anyway, it freaks me out when I’m talking to other co-workers and they reference my new position. like, what are you talking about? turns out they just heard I was being considered for the job I know I’m being considered for, but it’s like … just make it official already! I hate this waiting and wondering if it’s actually going to happen.

    anyway, good luck!!

We recently had a restructure and it is so hard to keep everyone’s position straight! I just don’t talk about it. I hope you get your new title soon!

    eee! Preemptive congratulations!

[when this post came up in google reader, your picture was cut in just a way (because of where my scroll bars are set) so that your wedding rings were kind of the focus, and it made me think ‘oh, her coworkers all think she just got engaged/married; they must not pay attention all that closely – how funny!’ And yes, I have worked with people who are that clueless, ha!]

    • RunningLaur says:

Also, happy more-or-less/close-enough two year friend-iversary! I’m so lucky that you were my secret santa!

      • kilax says:

LOL about the engagement announcement idea. Someone did ask me the other day (at work) if I just got married. Ha ha.

I was thinking about our secret santa too! I am so happy we met! Have you done a secret santa since? I have not! Ooops!

  15. Jen says:

I hope you have GOOD news soon! I’m sending positive energy your way!

  16. gina says:

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! That is all.

  17. Thinking good thoughts! I can’t wait to hear about it!
