Notes:

  • I joined a new age group this week! It made me smile that many people wished me a happy birthday that way – either, “welcome to my age group” or just by mentioning it.
  • Ugh, my stomach was a mess this week, and I’m not sure why – it’s unusual for me. It was really disruptive during my runs, so I hope that doesn’t last much longer.
  • I successfully worked out before my commute this week! Ha ha, I left my alarm in the bathroom so I’d be forced to get up when it went off. I still laid in bed for a bit after grabbing it… then worked out. Eh, whatever works! I wish I had enough time to meet someone and work out before my commute, because that always gets me up!
  • My poor knees! They’ve had quite the year! First it was my right one, that got all jacked up at the Wisconsin Half then from sliding on it at softball. Then the left got a bit of the sliding action, and um, I really tore it up at the last game this week. I slid in to second and was out, then came back in right away to be the runner for the player at first. Then I slid in to home plate and was out (but my team and the other team said I was safe, ha ha). Ha! I got two outs in one inning! The good news is that my slide looks A LOT better than it did at the first game. The bad news is that I just wear capris to play, and I actually bleed through them, at the game. Yeah, that cut is NOT feeling so good, nor is the bruising below it (and under the skin). It was really bothersome during my weekend runs. I think I will get legit softball pants for next year.
  • I am SO PROUD of my bestie, Gina! She ran a new 5K PR yesterday, averaging under 8:00 minute miles AND in the Texas sun! She is kicking so much butt. It really makes me happy!
  • And I have to ask… who else is sporting an awesome shorts tan line?!

  1. My shorts tan line wins. The proposal photo of us in Punta Cana tells the story.

  2. Pete B says:

Happy (belated) birthday! Looking forward to reading about you beating all of the “old” runners on the upper-end of your AG. 🙂 Clever idea about the alarm in the bathroom. I would be afraid I wouldn’t hear it!

  3. Matt says:

I can’t decide if I am jealous of your tan line or if I’m proud of myself for doing really well at using sunscreen this year.

  4. Xaarlin says:

Oh goodness that shorts tan 🙂 I had a sweet KT tape tan yesterday… Glad I didn’t wear it today outside. Lol

Take care of those knees!!! I used to bang them up all the time when I was a kid- was never fun letting a scab 2-3″ across heal.

    Yay! Congrats to Gina!!

Ha ha ha! That is hilarious! I want to see it!

I am trying. It’s a good thing my nails or short or I would be picking at it like crazy!

  5. I’m sorry you messed up your knee! I hope it heals up soon. That can’t feel good. And congrats to Gina! I don’t have a compression short tan line, but I think I might be getting a compression sock tan line. It’s classy.

  6. Happy Birthday! Wow nice work on the knees 🙁 but thats alright my legs are always cut up or bruised too. I once had a housemate whose alarm clock vibrated…eventually off the table and then broke apart and wouldn’t stop ringing until it was reassembled..seemed a bit extreme but it worked.

  7. Tiina says:

My biker shorts tan is coming in really nicely. Kind of making me feel like an actual triathlete :p

And ouch! That looks like a nasty one!

  8. Bean says:

Happy Belated Birthday! Just catching up on everything and oh my word I think you are the busiest person I know! I have a really attractive capri tan line happening…..no great:).

  9. Happy belated b-day!

I have an awesome shorts tan and tank line. The husband is the ultimate farmer at the moment, too!

I sympathize with the knee. i did a number on my knee and hand at the 6 hour race. I will never be a knee model either!

  10. Margaret says:

I actually have a double tan line – capri line below my knee (darkest tan below that point) (I wear capris at least 70% of the year for running, in all but the month or two of most extreme weather each in winter and summer), and then another line for shorts/skirts from running and more enhanced this summer due to biking shorts, with a tan slightly lighter than the capri line, and then white above that. And of course the ever lovely RoadID/Garmin combo tan line on my wrist…

  11. Yep, those tan lines never fail.
