Kitten steps

That’s the cat equivalent of “baby steps,” right?

I wrongly assumed it was the long corridor at the rental house that was freaking out Data. It’s not that at all. IT’S THIS:

Ha.

I realized it yesterday when I saw Data run by the office (where the ceiling fan is) in to the back room with this look on his face:

Poor guy.

But the good news is, he was brave enough to go in to the office this morning! Kitten steps! Ha ha.

The office has french doors, and when we first visited the house, I thought Data would want to be in that room all the time, looking in to the back yard! I even set up his tower of judgment there, so he could laze by the doors in comfort. It never crossed my mind that the fan might freak him the eff out.

Eh, I am sure in no time, he’ll be in there ALL the time, on my desk, meowing in my face, when I am trying to work.

Steven reminded me that the new house has a ceiling fan too, in the living area. But it’s on a high sloped ceiling so I hope it doesn’t have quite as strong as an effect…

  1. I’d completely forgotten and this reminds me that boomer was scared of ours for ages..you are lucky cats can’t bark!

Poor guy! Allie’s fine with ceiling fans, but they’re everywhere in Texas. Hopefully he accepts it’s not going to hurt him, and he’s enjoying the view out the doors.

  5. Such great action shots of Data! He models really well. Nice job on catching him when he’s displaying his moments of true emotion! Usually I can’t get my camera out fast enough for these instances. Have you ever thought about having him do cat movies or advertisements? =D

    LOVE those French doors!!!

Poor Data! My hubby and always say our cats on the “spectrum” new things can really throw them for a loop! His expression is priceless.

Oh gosh! I can only imagine what they think when they are forced in to something new like this. I wish I could explain it to him!

      Thanks! 🙂

Paco has always known ceiling fans (they’re in just about every room in our house), and yet, every once in a while, he’ll NOTICE one, and get a little growly/freaked out. Animals…they are such strange creatures!

LOL! That is funny that to this day they still shock him! I can totally picture it… he accidentally looks at the ceiling and OMG IT’S STILL THERE!

Poor guy! New stuff spooks Chewie, too. It’s so hard when you can’t explain it to them.

Moving on to the last photo: I am SO HAPPY for you and the new place. Looks amazing already!!
