Random Thoughts Thursday 84

  • Steven freaked me the eff out on Monday! He called me and let me know he couldn’t find Data. And that there had been people working on the rental house. And he hadn’t seen Data since they left. Gah. Steven was looking for Data outside when he called me. Then he went back in the house and thankfully found Data under our bed – a CO detector was being tested while the workers were there and scared Data so much he hid under the bed for a long time. Gah. I was freaking out until Steven found him!

A photo Steven had sent me of Data from that morning

  • Yesterday wasn’t a great day for Data at the rental, either, with the new owners and their kid visiting. I can’t wait until we’re settled in at the forever home and Data doesn’t have to deal with that stuff. Unfortunately though, there will be construction at the forever home for awhile… I hope it doesn’t bug Data too much. He’s done well with construction at the townhome – he just hates it when the smoke detectors go off.
  • I am not the best version of myself right meow and I don’t like it. I am the highly stressed version of myself. Work is completely nuts, the house stuff is all effed up, I have some health thing to check out, and yeah… GET IT TOGETHER, Kim. Thanks to my friends/family for letting me vent to them so you guys don’t have to hear the details! (this bullet is actually replacing three that were listing the house details, ha! basically, we definitely aren’t closing tomorrow and still don’t know when we are – maybe next week?!)
  • I’m certain I have complained about this before, but what is with people who don’t have their work phone number listed on the signature on their work email (or don’t have a signature at all)? You don’t want to be called? Me either, but a lot of times, you gotta call someone, and that would be such an easy place to find your phone number. Ugh.
  • Another (no chip) nail came off Sunday night, but the other eight are going mostly strong, ha! I’ve been painting the missing nails with my own polish (seen on the right below). I can’t stand to have one nail not painted or chipped so I am happy these haven’t peeled off when I’ve been away from home and can’t fix it!

Thank gawd I take pictures of EVERYTHING to share with my snis so I have this sort of thing documented to share. Ha ha.

So glad Data is safe and sound! That sounds like a stressful time for both (wo)man and beast.

  2. Lesley says:

I’ve stressed about cats before when I couldn’t find them. Allie doesn’t like the smoke detectors either, and I always know if I don’t see her, she’s somewhere in my room.

  3. Beth says:

Oh my gosh, so glad you didn’t lose Data. That’s terrifying! Sorry both of you are stressed to the max. Big hugs to you and Data!

  4. Poor Data!! At least he hadn’t gone but still heart attack danger when you think they have.
I never bother with color on my hand nails I chip mine before I even leave the salon..whoops! Sucks about the house being delayed. Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do and you are doing it twice in the space of a few months no wonder you are stressed. Hope it gets better soon. I hope you do some before and after pictures when you start work on the new place…..pretty please.

Mine chip SO easy when I paint them myself! The no chip is working well minus those two missing ones.

YES. It’s horrible that we are doing this to ourselves twice in such a short amount of time! Ugh!

Oh yes, there will be MANY house posts. You will get sick of it! 🙂 I even added a “house” tag a few weeks ago to organize them here! 🙂

  5. Mica says:

Aww, poor Data and the CO2 detector!

I don’t have a phone at work, so I don’t put a phone number on my email signature. Do you mean putting a work phone or one’s personal cell? (No on at my work does.) Now I’m paranoid!

    • kilax says:

I meant a work phone #, sorry to be confusing. If you don’t have a phone #, then you definitely don’t need it in a signature. 🙂 Who at your office has a work phone #?

  6. I’m sorry you aren’t having the best go of things right now. Adulting is so silly! I hope every thing gets straightened out and life settles down.

On a side note, I got a manicure the other day, mostly to have my cuticles cut, but it was such a waste. I messed up at least one nail before even walking out of the door. And my nails are so brittle from winter that everything is chipping and breaking. Ugh!

    • kilax says:

Thank you 🙂 A 2-3 day on-site meeting with a client just got canceled for me for next week so that clears up a TON of time to get other work done! That is making life less stressful!

That sucks! So did you just remove it all when you got home? :-/

      • No … because I’m lazy. I had high hopes that I’d try to find the color and redo the nails that I had smudged but never did. I’m currently sporting seriously chipped nails that would be dubbed unprofessional if anyone took the time to look.

Yay for canceled meetings! I’m hoping our Silver Sneakers instructor is back next week so that I can catch a break. But if she doesn’t, I’m determined to spend the extra $$$ on a race or something.

Everything is gonna be okay snister!!!!

Sometimes I freak out about Dex when I don’t know where she is. She usually ends up under a bed somewhere. She had a bad habit when we first moved in of darting into the garage, so I always panic that she somehow got in there and got out when the door opened. Hate that worry!!! She also used to like to go out on the front step of our old town home when we accidentally left the door open. JFC. Can’t handle that. I have nightmares all the time about her getting out lol… Cat lady problems.

  8. Kristina says:

Shew – moving is so stressful, and then you have to add to it other life stuff, and it’s just not much fun. I hope that things settle down for you soon. Glad that Data is safe. It seems like hiding under the bed is a good strategy. I wish I could do that at times…

  9. Rachel says:

Kevin, being an asshole scientist, wanted me to point out that it is, in fact, a CO detector…not a CO2 detector. You should be ok with some carbon dioxide in the rental. 🙂

    • kilax says:

Thanks for the correction! I make lots of mistakes and appreciate a kind correction… or wait… am I supposed to think he’s being an asshole to me?! 🙁 ha ha’

WHATEVER IT IS, IT FREAKS DATA OUT. lol

      • Rachel says:

You should have heard the convo:

Rachel: “Data was hiding cause the CO2 detector was beeping”

        Kevin: “The what detector?”

Rachel: “The CO2 detector! You know, carbon dio….ohh…”

Kevin: smug ass smile on his face

        Rachel: “You win”

  10. amy says:

Poor Data and poor you! Hang in there!

  11. Erin says:

Hey, you have a lot going on and a lot of things in the air right now so of COURSE you’re stressed out! That’s totally normal! I just hope you can get your runs and workouts in because I know how much that helps 🙂

Also, didn’t Data once get stuck in a cabinet underneath a sink? He likes to scare you guys!

    • kilax says:

Thank you! The runs are REALLY helping! A LOT!

Yes! He did! Good memory! He went in there when Steven was getting ready then Steven closed the door and didn’t know where he was. Ha.
