Things I’m excited about in May!

By , May 1, 2018 6:03 am

There’s a lot of fun social stuff going on in May, yay! Here’s what I’m excited about:

  • Getting a massage before this Saturday’s half marathon
  • Running the half
  • Riding my bike outside
  • Going to Cleveland to visit Anne and Terry
  • Taking Jen out for a late birthday celebration
  • My favorite coworker’s son’s first birthday party
  • Our bowling passes starting (we got summer bowling passes this year – you pay a flat fee, then can bowl up to three games, every day, all summer long)
  • The long Memorial Day Weekend
  • Running the Chocoholic 5K with Rachel (and lots of people from the studio where I teach)
  • Going to our first baseball game of the year
  • Running lots of miles and enjoying spring weather before the humidity hits
  • Earlier and earlier sunrises that get my butt out of bed (& associated afternoon naps)

What’s on your list?

I’m really excited that you guys are coming to visit! YAYYYYYYY!!!! 🙂

The bowling passes sound awesome! Are there lanes close to your house?

I’m glad you guys are doing Chocoholic again, and how fun that Rachel is going to join you this time! 🙂 Are you running for fun, or going to try to PR? Hopefully it’s not rainy and muddy again this year!

I hear you on the early sunrises. I’ve had a really hard time getting up early, pretty much since we switched time zones last summer.

May is my favorite month since it includes my birthday and anniversary 🙂 I’m also excited to visit my parents over Memorial Day weekend while Terry is out of town, and maybe run a 10k there.

      Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are close, over in Waukegan BY EL FAMOUS BURRITO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I am running the 5K for fun! And ditto on the no rain or mud. Although we still had a blast. I wish you would be there!

I wonder what the earliest is the sun will rise there – 5:30? It’s already waking me up close to 5:00 here, now!

Yay! May is going to be an awesome month for you! Is that the 10K you were telling me about when you were here?

      • Anne says:

Well if that combo doesn’t say regular “date night” I don’t know what does.

I know, I wish I was going to be there too! I thought about coming to Chicago that weekend instead of Toledo, but Terry’s flying home from his trip on Sunday morning so, uh, I guess I need to be here to pick him up.

I think it was around 5:30 last summer, but can’t recall. The annoying thing is it’s still light out until 10pm in the summer. This is definitely why I was more of a night owl when I was a kid!

I think that was an 8k around Cleveland that I was telling you about.

        • kilax says:

          Right?!

Ha ha, he could Uber! LOL, I kid, I kid.

I have a really hard time with the late nights, too. It really messes both of us up, actually. We stay up too late doing things, eat too late, go to bed too late, then the sun wakes us up too early, then we’re tired mid day. Ha.

          Oh yeah, that sounds right!

  2. Yay for the half marathon this weekend! I don’t know if you’re planning to come to packet pickup on Friday, but if you are, I’ll be sure to wish you a very merry May the Fourth be with you 🙂

NAPS. I’m excited for that in May, too – I’ve missed them thanks to my house being full of contractors…I feel like I can’t nap if they’re working!

Those bowling passes sound like an excellent deal. I used to bowl with friends on Friday nights, but then I started running and having to wake up early on Saturdays to do the group runs put an end to staying out late on Fridays.

    • kilax says:

Oh yeah, no way. You wouldn’t be able to through the noise!!! When we had our construction project, I almost went to a friend’s house to nap, I was so desperate and tired!!!!

Running is first priority, always!!! These passes aren’t actually good past certain hours of the day, so we won’t have that problem, hee hee.

Sounds like an exciting month! I am looking forward to riding my bike outside more and working on my tan! I’m also excited for my cousin’s graduation and party!

  5. Amy says:

Sounds like May is going to be a good month for you! I’m looking forward to our 2nd annual family Mother’s Day hike this weekend, and two of my nieces visiting – the one is coming next week on her way home from a semester in China, and the other one is coming in a few weeks for a weekend – she’s doing a semester in Cannes, France.

    • kilax says:

Oh nice! Do you have the route all planned out?

And yay for visitors! It will be fun to hear about their travels!

  6. Kristina says:

Good luck with the race this weekend! May seems like the perfect month to really get your racing kicks going.
And I hear ya on riding outside. Last weekend was so spring-like here in Colorado, I rode outside Saturday and Sunday and felt some serious bike love.
I have a crazy busy month and am excited about going to California this weekend. Then I have a 10-day adventure with a bunch of teens and tweens (please help me) mid-month. I’m already looking forward to some quiet at the end of the month!

    • kilax says:

      Thanks!

Yay for getting some outdoor rides in in gorgeous weather!!!! Woo hoo!

Aww come on, you lived overseas with them for longer YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! And have a great trip to CA!

  7. Mica says:

I didn’t realize you had these races coming up, but it sounds like they’re more “fun” races, right?

Do you tend to bowl in the summer? It seems like a good thing to do in the [many] colder months, so I was surprised that it’s a summer activity for you two. Then again, it also seems like a good indoor thing on a hot, hot summer day.

    • kilax says:

Yeah, they are more fun races. I may go for a PR this weekend, but the weather has been really warm, so I may not!

Hmmm. We have been so all over the place about bowling. When we were in league, it was a summer league, though! So I guess that’s the only time we’ve ever gone regularly!!!! Easier to get out of the house in the summer?! Ha!
