Intentionally Quiet

By , April 30, 2018 6:17 am

Some life things have me quite anxious so I’ve been sharing the stress with friends and family offline… but I didn’t mean to be THIS quiet here! Oops! I feel like things are slowly getting better, so hopefully I’ll feel more inspired to write here soon (because I enjoy it, and miss it).

FRIDAY!

Circumstances* required that we replace my car, so Friday night was spent buying a new one. I can’t afford my dream car (I didn’t even test drive one – payments would be $900 a month on it, ha ha ha!!!!), but I can kind of afford to replace my car with a newer version of what I had, and very much loved.

2015 Infiniti QX70

My older brother sent me this when I told him about the new ride. Ha! Half of our texts are about The Fast and the Furious. I love it.

Kimbot is the name of my car

Acquiring a new ride was a huge source of anxiety, and I feel a bit relieved it’s done. Unfortunately, we weren’t planning on getting a new car right meow (we’d been hoping to get a sedan for Steven in the next year), so we’ll need to adjust our budgeting.

SATURDAY!

On Saturday I skipped my run before class and tried to sleep in. I later regretted that. Now’s the time of year when it’s getting light out shortly after 5:00. If I am up (I was, to feed the cats) I should stay up and run. (And nap later!!!)

I taught fitness boxing, had lunch with Steven, then we ran some errands, and fixed our broken mailbox. A plow ran in to our mailbox during an early February storm. It was crooked, but still usable, so we decided to wait to fix it until we were mostly certain it wouldn’t snow again. Hopefully now is not too early!

This would be the old broken one, not the new box we installed, ha

I should have run or ridden my bike after that but I was tired AF and read and took a short nap. Man, I was having an off day. We made dinner and watched part of The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and I went to bed still feeling off, and moody.

SUNDAY!

Happily, I woke up in a much better mood on Sunday! I ran, then enjoyed getting groceries in my new car. I prepped the produce for the week when I got home, had lunch with Steven, dusted a bit, then got my nails fixed at the salon (my Monday manicure was already peeling!).

Color: Frenchie Likes To Kiss? Manicures and Starbucks are definitely going to be two things to cut back on to save money.

I rode my bike after that, took a bath, read a bit, then we had dinner and watched The Commuter. Side note: anyone else notice Redbox upped their rental prices fifty cents each on regular DVD and Blu-Ray?

And that was my mundane weekend! But I’ll take it – I need these chill weekends. May and June are really busy for us, but I’ve tried to keep one weekend mostly “open” like this so we can relax if we want.

*Hopefully I’ll share that story another time!

The new car looks great! And I love the touch of sparkle on the manicure 🙂

The new car looks fab…does it have any nice new features your old one didn’t? I don’t want to replace ours for a long while but the newer cars come with more stuff built into the base models.

Sometimes I think when you are having an off day like that its better to just rest.

I got my nails done the other day and they are seriously chipped right now…I don’t think I’ll bother with a mani again, at least pedis last for ages! Its hard to cut back on little things like that but it does make a big difference over the course of a month.

Mundane weekends are great. I have a two (I hope) coming up after a busy couple of months before suff gets crazy again.

Thanks! Yeah, it does, like all that new-fangled blue tooth stuff and a trunk that opens on its own! Woo hoo!

I definitely think so too on the off days like that. I always feel so… guilty? Lazy? Though, after.

Did you get a no chip?!??! Get it fixed if you did!!! That’s frustrating 🙁

They are! I am glad you have some coming up too. I have to pencil them in so I don’t go crazy!

  3. Congrats (I think?) on the new car! I’m guessing since it’s similar to the one you initially had, you hopefully won’t be too much of a readjustment.

Thanks! I keep feeling surprised by people saying congrats, but it is a fun thing and I do appreciate it! It’s very similar, happily! 🙂

I like Kimbot 2.0!!! I know it wasn’t what or when you were planning on, but it does look like a good ride! 🙂 I see that you have Bluetooth – my car had that too and I loved it! It was especially nice because I could use longer drives to easily call my parents, or Terry if I was out of town. Going back to the stoneage with Terry’s low-tech car was not fun (I have to use an auxiliary cable to listen to my music?! I may as well plug that into a Discman) so I’m excited to get a newer car again later this year.

We had a really quiet weekend too, which was definitely welcome after traveling the last couple of weekends. Glad you could relax a bit this weekend!

Thanks! I’m very grateful I could replace what I had. That Jag will be mine someday!!! <3

Ha! My old car was a 2005 and we added an aux cable and that was so exciting. With this one, I first plugged in my cord to the usb and thought that was boss, then I was like, WAIT A MINUTE IT HAS BLUE TOOTH! Ha! It will be nice when you have that again! I am excited to try some of those features you mention.

      Yay for quiet weekends!!!!!!!!!

Nice ride! Car buying is stressful especially used car buying, since I don’t know much about cars and am afraid of getting ripped off or buying a complete lemon! 🙂

    • kilax says:

Thanks! It is! We tried CarMax but then ended up going to the dealer we’ve bought from twice before – I felt much better about not getting a lemon there. We know they’ll take care of us!

It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on – no wonder you’re feeling stressed out. I hope things settle down for you soon.
    Hugs!

I like your new car! It’s always fun but yes, stressful, to get one…wish it was easier but I guess when you’re spending so much money, the stress just comes with it. I like having Bluetooth in my car but I kind of feel foolish speaking to it, telling it to CALL SO-AND-SO like I’m a bigwig, haha.

Hope the rest of your stressors are lessening.

    • kilax says:

Thanks! Wouldn’t it be so much nicer if the money wasn’t such a stressor with it? I wonder what that is like. Ha! LOL, you ARE a bigwig!!!!

      Thanks, it’s getting better!

I have seen all of the F&F movies multiple times (as you know), but I still read that as “Need [plural of ‘no’]” which didn’t make any sense. I am ashamed!

I know the whole car ordeal was really stressful for you, so I’m glad you’re already driving around in an updated Kimbot. Are you still using “kimbot” or is there a new name?

Your crooked mailbox reminds me of when I was a new driver and backed into the mailbox of my aunt and uncle’s neighbor across the street. I felt so bad and cried about it, but she was very nice. My aunt said that she had a crush on my uncle anyway, so she let it go, especially since he came over to fix it.

    • kilax says:

Mica! For shame!!!! LOL! I still love ya 😉

Thanks! I am glad we were able to get it Friday and I could have a less rushed Saturday. She’s still Kimbot – I transferred the plates over 🙂

Aww! Stuff happens! I would have cried too. I am glad they were kind to you about it, and it didn’t become more stressful than it already was!!! And bonus points that she got to watch her crush fix it!
