Random Thoughts Thursday 187

  • So, it turns out the female kittens are NOT getting spayed this week, because they don’t weigh enough. I feel stupid for getting so excited about them coming home this week. That’ll teach me!
  • Last week, Steven heard a mention of an office I designed for a public figure on NPR! I thought that was cool! NPR didn’t mention me, or where I work, but it’s awesome that the office is getting recognition at all.
  • We were invited to a semi-formal event next weekend! I’m looking forward to dressing up and even made an appointment for my hair!

I should probably wear something I already own. So far I am looking at these two black dresses, which seem appropriate, but are too big, or these two colored dresses, which I am not sure about, but fit.

  • I finished Let Your Mind Run last week, and Final Girls (per Stephany’s recommendation!) yesterday. I’ll definitely be reading Let Your Mind Run again, and highlighting and taking more away from it. I enjoyed Final Girls (except the gory parts), especially when it picked up pace at the end. It kept me engaged in the last third, with its twists and turns, and revealing more of the main character’s history.

  • Now I have four non-fiction books from the library to pick my next read!
  • I was so excited when I saw this sign Monday night! I love raspberries! How did I only buy six containers?!

  • Khali was super in to A Quiet Place. I think it’s because she sat right by the speaker, and the movie was mostly quiet, until it wasn’t. Ha.

  • It blows my mind that I still have panicked dreams about packing up and leaving Rome, despite not having lived there in twelve years!

Aww, sorry to hear the kitties aren’t ready to come home yet! But don’t feel stupid about getting so excited. You can still be excited that they’re coming soon 🙂

A semi-formal event sounds fun – can’t wait to see how you get your hair done!

LOL at Khali! I sent you that pic this week of Heidi hanging out watching the Tudors – I think she’ll be sad whenever we finally get around to mounting the TV, since it’s currently at a perfect height for her.

A majority of the dreams that I can remember have me living at parents’ house, and it’s been 15 years since I moved away. I’m surprised I’m not having more dreams about packing things up lately.

Now I am worried the timing will be off with our IA trip! We’ll see what happens. I can’t bring them home for a few days then leave, ha ha.

Thanks! It’s a cut and style, so maybe just a blow out, but it will look better than what I can do.

Maybe DON’T mount it then? DUH. 😉

Now you’ve probably jinxed it and you WILL dream about packing!!!! Ha ha.

      • Anne says:

Ummm… yeah, that sounds like bad news. Not like Data and Khali wouldn’t be good babysitters 😉

My current bad dream is that Terry gets a new job in yet another new city and we have to move AGAIN. AHHHHHH!

Awwwww…….I’m sorry about the kitties not being able to come home!! Good they are watching them close for weight though, anesthesia can be tricky if they are underweight. I love raspberries too!! Yum!! And as for the dresses for the semi-formal event, I love the floral sundress! It’s so summery and is so pretty too! Have fun!! I love your cabinet for your big TV!! We have a 65” TV and I hate the stand. It’s black glass and I can never keep it clean!! Ugh!!

    • kilax says:

Totally glad they are. I understand it, I just thought it was going to be sooner. Ha ha.

Thanks! I haven’t worn that one since Nick and Alysssa’s wedding two years ago!

Thanks! We got it off of Amazon when we were trying to sell our townhome in winter 2015. It looked a lot better than what we had before. Are you thinking about getting a new one?

  3. Kathy says:

Don’t feel silly. We picked Boomer out a week before we got him and I swear I looked at his picture every 2 minutes for the entire week. I probably would have cried if it was proposed another week!

I love the floral print dress.

That is an amazing price for organic raspberries.

    • kilax says:

Aww, you totally get it! From where did you adopt him?

Thanks! Maybe I will end up with that one… if it feels formal enough for night! It seems more of a day time dress to me for some reason!

  4. Chaitali says:

Aww… too bad you have to wait longer for the kitties 🙁 They’re so cute! And yay for getting to dress up for a fun event 🙂 I really like that pink/purple dress.

  5. Erin says:

Bummer that the kittens aren’t quite ready! Will the vet keep them a little longer if it turns out they’re ready to come home right when you’ll be out of town?

As for your dress, I vote for the fuchsia one! You look great in that color.

    • kilax says:

I haven’t asked but it’s in the back of my mind! I hate to think of them stuck there with their siblings gone, but they probably won’t know the difference.

      Thanks! 🙂

  6. Such a bummer about the kitties 🙁 Someone needs to tell them to eat more so they can gain weight faster and get all their sex organs removed! How could that kind of promise not motivate them to put on weight?? Hahaha 😛 (For the record, I am pro-spaying/neutering pets – it’s just funny to think about them intentionally staying too light so they don’t lose their lady parts)

Are those raspberries at Jewel? I swear, I’ve seen some sales on fruit there this summer that have been SO INSANE. It’s like, “Buy this watermelon for one penny! Save $9.99!” (Not actually, but you get my point). Like what kind of profit margin are they normally pulling on fruit to be able to sell it for a quarter of the usual price?? Unless pricing on fruit changes with deliveries or something – I have no idea how all that works. Supply, demand, economics, money, numbers, etc.

    • kilax says:

Ha! I am sure they are doing this in some sort of feminist protest!!!! She’ll get along with Khali (who is QUITE the outspoken feminist in the house (I am saying this all in fun, of course… but she is)).

Yeah, they were! That place is so freaking overpriced to start with, that I only buy bananas there, then fruit when it’s on some crazy sale like this. LOL watermelon for $.01. You know, a friend of mine’s husband manages that store so I should ask what the deal is with sales. And my husband works with grocery stores so he may have an idea too. Hmm.

  7. martymankins says:

The raspberries are a great price. We have a local store here called Sprouts that has them on sale for the same price. I normally get 6 containers.

Just watched A Quiet Place the other night. It was so good. Intense in many parts. Sad in a few, including in the first 10 mins.

  8. Stephany says:

Oh, I’m so bummed the kittens aren’t coming home just yet! SOON. <3

I'm glad you liked Final Girls! I listened to it on audiobook and had to listen to it during my commute. No nighttime listening for that book! Haha.
