Five kitty things Friday

I lied! I have more than five items!

Gosh, it’s been too long since I posted an update on our cats. Ha.

  1. Apollo and Starbuck still need voices. We have well defined voices for Data and Khali (and had one for Snow, too), but Apollo and Starbuck’s still haven’t come to us yet. Which makes it hard for us to communicate for them.
  2. We also do not have songs for them yet. Yes, Data and Khali each have (several) songs. I’ve sung a few things to them, about themselves, but I don’t think it’s gonna stick.

Ha, Khali was running around like crazy and Apollo’s tail got super puffy!
  3. In the training I was in at work this week, we had to say something we like to do for fun during an introduction, and I totally said “play with my new kittens.” Happily, I got an “aww” response.
  4. Apparently four cats is the amount you need to have to call them each other’s names. I mainly accidentally call the girls each other’s names. Sometimes I almost even call them by their mother’s name – Athena!

    Apollo and Khali
  5. Apollo is a total crier for attention (and food!). Yesterday he was crying out from another room during a conference call and my boss goes “is that one of your new babies?” Luckily, it was an internal call, and my boss is totally cool. Oh, Apollo.
  6. Steven sends me pictures of the cats and I sometimes can’t tell them apart if I can only see their face!

I thought this was Apollo at first. It’s not!
  7. Data is STILL in the sink from last weekend (when he moved there from the tub). We got him some new meds (hemp oil) to try, per the recommendation of our vet. I hope it helps. Some of our friends have used it for their pets and said it has! But he’s really declining physically – losing a lot of weight and muscle mass. We’re very concerned and have an appointment for him at the veterinarian next week.

  1. Oh, Data 🙁 It’s so hard to watch pets get old 🙁 I hope the vet is able to provide some answers that will allow him (and you) to be comfortable.

It really is! I take comfort in that HE seems comfortable, but I don’t want to be selfish and keep him around if he’s in some sort of pain I can’t see. I hope the vet helps too!

  2. Troy says:

Loving the kitty pictures. Keep em coming!

  3. Shelley B says:

Dang, I’m sad about Data’s decline. I hope the vet can help.

As for the kitty pics, I adore the arched back puffy tail tip toes one the most…and if you tell me that he hopped sideways as well, I my day will be complete. 🙂

Keep the kittie post coming I LOVE them!! I think Khali might still be trying to figure out why they are there.

    Poor Data!

    • kilax says:

I will! Khali is so funny. She wants to hate them, but HAS to be around them. She loves them!

I know 🙁 Ugh. I wish he felt like moving around A LITTLE BIT!

  5. ChezJulie says:

I hope that the hemp oil helps Data to feel better. Please keep us posted!

  6. Stephany says:

Oh, Data. This just breaks my heart. I was in your exact position just a few months ago and it’s so hard to watch them decline and not know what to do. I hope the vet can provide some answers! My vet was so, so compassionate with me. <3

    • kilax says:

Thank you for understanding (even though it makes me sad you had to go through that). I hope our vet is that way when he sees him. It seems like Data’s has lost even more weight since his August 2 visit. 🙁

  7. Mica says:

Oh man, I haven’t heard Khali’s voice, just Data’s! I wonder if A&S will develop separate voices or if they’ll end up being similar since you got them at the same time.

    • kilax says:

Khali’s is SUPER high pitched and everything’s a feminist argument. But we love her passion!

I wonder too! I really want their voices to come out but they haven’t yet!
