Our favorite postcard & when to yell “quarter!!!”

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about these things before. I have failed you guys!

I was thinking about the things making us laugh this weekend and I have to share two of them. Maybe you can relate to our VERY childish sense of humor? (it’s not just me!)

Mica sent us this hilarious postcard in November 2016. It has an image of a Victorian lady with a strategically cut hole, and you bend your index finger and place it just so to make it look like a butt. Class-ay.

Steven and I got SO. MUCH. ENTERTAINMENT. out of this postcard. Our favorite thing to do was “surprise” the other person by getting it ready, then saying “have you seen this?” or “did you see what came in the mail?” And nine times out of ten, they’d be surprised to see the butt, and laugh.

Eventually, this card got placed in the back of a stack of cards (I know, for shame), but I resurrected it when I went through all my cards in August, so we’ve been pranking each other again.

We showed it to Gina and Steve this weekend, and they thought it was hilarious. Now we can prank them by texting them pictures of it. If only I had the postcard book itself to send to my friends in the mail…

And, the other thing.

We have a rule in our house, if you fart and you aren’t in the bathroom, you owe a quarter. Only, we’ve never actually paid up. So it’s mostly just an opportunity to yell “quarter!” when someone farts.

The ground rules:

  • The minimum charge is twenty-five cents, no less
  • If it’s really bad, it’s fifty cents, or a dollar (you know, if it sounds like the person ripped a hole in their pants or whatever they’re sitting on)
  • If you laugh when you get charged, you get charged more (and more and more if you keep laughing)

Yes, we run a very mature household.

I shared this rule with Gina and Steve in April because I had a funny story that happened at their house that I couldn’t keep to myself. I was in the bathroom, getting ready for the day, and I had Steven on speaker phone, and didn’t even think about it, and farted (you know, cause I was in the bathroom!) and he goes “Did you just fart?!” and I said “I’m in the bathroom! I’m in the bathroom!!!” and he yells “QUARTER!!!” Ha ha ha. Guess you had to be there. Or maybe not.

So I told them about it then, and it came up again during our river trip because someone was a little gas machine (Luca!), and again, on this trip. So while no adult got yelled “QUARTER!” at, there was lots of pretend quarter yelling, and some not-pretend quarter yelling to Luca. Again, so mature. I’m so glad we can pass this on to Luca. Ha!

I can relate to your very mature sense of humor 😉 But man oh man, I can’t imagine how quickly we’d fill up a jar like that here!

Hahahahahaha! I’d earn a lot of money in this house if I had a rule like that…

    Inside jokes are the best!

They are! And I like to document them so I remember why they started. I accidentally looked up another inside joke we have on my blog while they were here and I reminded everyone why it started and we were all like “oh, yeah!!!” (I know, cool story brah.)
